Halfway through drinking wine, Xue Liang got up and went to the washroom. He washed his face with cold water to refresh himself. When he was about to leave, he was stopped by a figure outside the door.

He took a step back. The man inserted his hands in his pockets and looked at Xue Liang from head to toe with a disdainful look. He raised his eyebrows and commented, “Nowadays, even students from X University sell themselves as a sugarbaby. You don’t even look very attractive.”

Xue Liang slightly narrowed his eyes and recalled the conversation just now. This man clearly sat with them. However, he was absent-minded throughout the whole conversation and had focused on the other side of the room. Xue Liang had a rough guess in his mind, so he smiled at him and said, “According to my observation, this is usually what the commoners will say. Either can’t afford one or can’t sell one. I wonder which situation you belong in?”

“You…” The young man instantly flushed with anger. He stared at him and shouted, “I can’t believe you…”

“I have to go,” Xue Liang said, “Do you want to use the washroom?”

The man turned his back to the corridor. When he saw that Xue Liang acted like nothing happened after insulting him, he became more furious. He couldn’t help but sneer, “Be less f*king hypocritical, will you. Not only did you become a prostitute, you’re also staying close to him. You lied to him…”

“Who did he lie to?”

A cold voice came from behind. Yan Chong was standing close to them, and met the two men’s gazes. He frowned and asked, “Is there something you can’t say in the room and needed to start a meeting in the washroom?”

The young man didn’t know how much Yan Chong had heard, and fearfully called out “Brother Chong”.

Without waiting for Yan Chong to speak, Xue Liang immediately and innocently continued the conversation, “Maybe Mr. Ren feels like there’s more ‘atmosphere’ here?”

Yan Chong rolled his eyes in disgust.

The young man was so disgusted that he angrily said to Xue Liang, “What are you up to? My first name is ‘Zhu’, not ‘Ren’!”

“Oh, your first name is not ‘Ren’,” Xue Liang calmly paced out of the washroom. He walked past Yan Chong and said as he was walking, “If your first name isn’t ‘Ren’, don’t call him ‘Brother Chong’. I almost thought that your famous name is *Ren Ying Ying*.”

*Ren Ying Ying*: A fictional character

Yan Chong’s lips curved up, and immediately flattened deliberately. He put on a cold face and lightly scolded Xue Liang, “Don’t be mischievous.” He also said to the young man, “The intern doesn’t know what he’s doing, so don’t bother arguing with him.”

This heart-warming moment was planned by Yan Chong. Xue Liang became obedient like a dog who just got into trouble and nodded his head, “He’s right.”

Yan Chong said, “Let’s go back.” He nodded slightly at the young man surnamed Zhu and led Xue Liang to the elevator. Leaving the young man standing in place while looking at their backs and gnashing his teeth. There was nothing he could do about it.

They didn’t say anything along the way until they entered the car. Yan Chong finally asked, “What was that about?”

“It’s a misunderstanding,” Xue Liang recklessly laughed and said, “He seems to have mistaken me for someone else.”

Yan Chong gave him a deep look, and didn’t say anything.

Xue Liang asked again, “Boss, that situation just now……will it give you trouble?”

Yan Chong originally wanted to ask him “What is that situation?, but luckily his mouth was faster than his brain. Once he glanced away from him, the *golden monkey* would get away. But for some reason, the words he wanted to say turned into a low reassurance, “Don’t worry, he can’t hurt my people.”

*Golden monkey*: Yan Chong describes Xue Liang as a golden monkey.

Xue Liang’s ears became red and said “Okay” in an embarrassed tone. He retreated back to his seat and didn’t move.

They became quiet again, only the rain outside of the window continued to rapidly fall.

It was nearly the early hours of the morning, the car finally reached the East Villa. Xue Liang took him to the porch with an umbrella. Yan Chong tiredly pinched the bridge of his nose and casually said, “It’s raining too much outside. If it’s inconvenient for you to go back, you can stay here for the night.”

The air was hot and humid. The verdant and lush of the trees in the jungle outside. The sound of the rain entwined with mist. The shadows made from the light of the lamp were shadowed in the rain like the texture of an old movie, giving people an ambiguous and romantic illusion for no reason. As if the sound of the pouring rain could accommodate all of the mistakes and indulgence, all of the mixed-up chaos and confusion.

Yan Chong stood under the porch lamp, a deep silhouette was made by the mist, light and shadow. The tiredness in his eyes seemed to be affectionate in another way. Xue Liang’s heart suddenly moved, like a scholar who accidentally broke into the mountain temple on a rainy night. He was severely shaken by the spirit of the Millennium Road and confused his heartstrings.

“No, it’s not necessary.” He took a big step backwards in a panic, but he forgot about the steps behind him. He almost stepped off the stairs and fell. Yan Chong quickly reached out his arm and pulled him. Splashed by the drops of water dripping down from the edge of the umbrella, he frowned and said, “Be careful, don’t be so bold.”

Xue Liang didn’t know how he left Yan Chong’s house. But when he returned to the house he shared with his roommate, Chen Yuan, who was still up staying up late to play games. Chen Yuan heard him enter the door in the middle of the game. He took off his headphones to greet him. “Yo, your majesty is back. Why didn’t you stay out today?”

Xue Liang threw the big vintage black umbrella at the shoe rack, and then threw himself to the sofa with a long, sad sigh.

“Ey yoyoyoyoyo,” Chen Yuan chirped like a little sparrow, leaving his four rows of teammates waiting for him. He quickly came closer to him, his butt made a dent in the sofa: “What’s wrong? What happened that made your majesty become like this?”

“Chun Yuan ah,” Xue Liang hugged a pillow and pondered for a while. He really didn’t want to spit it out, but he ended up saying, “I suspect my boss……might be gay.”

Chen Yuan jumped three feets high, and immediately connected a series of melodramatic drama with ups and downs in his mind. He grabbed Xue Liang’s shoulder and started shaking it crazily, “How do you know? Does he have a crush on you and asking for *unspoken rules*? Is he threatening you to make you disappear in the comic dialogue world if you don’t agree to him?! Does your father know this information? When will they come to our house to smash our checkbook? “

*Unspoken rules*: Usually ones that codify improper behaviours such as leveraging guanxi to get favourable treatment, or coercing employees for sexual favours.

“Empress, read less brain-dead novels in the future. Your brain can’t withstand too much destruction,” Xue Liang said dizzly, “I can’t be sure yet, I’m just guessing. There might be a man that likes my boss. He stopped me to say a few words today, I think he took me as my boss adopting a little bee.”

Chen Yuan said, “That’s a big misunderstanding. Our canary is a straight man, an extremely straight man. He only has 3,000 beauties, while our handsome high-powered businessman has 100 million beauties. For someone that’s lower than 100 million, to think you can reach our canary? Fool!

Xue Liang coolly reminded him, “He’s up to 100 million.”

“Oh, up to 100 million,” Chen Yuan said, “If he’s up to 100 million then I think we need to think this over. Let him take the card of love first.”

Xue Liang swung the pillow and smashed him firmly into the seam of the sofa.

“Hey, I’m serious.” Chen Yuan stretched his hand from the inside of the seam of the sofa. “He didn’t do it for no reason. Your boss didn’t hint something from the outside, did he? Or expressed something similar to you?”

“How is that possible,” Xue Liang said, “During the interview, we agreed for me to be an assistant. We signed a formal employment contract. Besides, the boss is not that kind of person……”

He was about to say more, but the phone on the coffee table suddenly rang. Xue Liang glanced at it and said, “My boss.” He made a gesture to Chen Yuan and went back to his room to answer the phone.

The sound of footsteps drifted away. His soft voice could be heard from the door that was not closed properly. A deep voice was heard, it felt like everything that they talked about was nothing. Chen Yuan was still stuck in the seam of the sofa. His ears froze after listening for a while. He squinted his eyes and let out a cold laugh. “The soul seduced by the demon had drifted away, and he’s still pretending to be here with me. Sigh, men.”
