Chapter 16

When the security guards arrived, Jin Yunho still stood coolly in his spot, one hand in his pocket, the other tightly gripping the wrist of the man in the tank top. His expression was as calm as ever.
As for the man in the tank top kneeling on the ground, he was far from composed. At that moment, he was gritting his teeth, enduring the pain in his leg and wrist.
Now, he would rather go to the police station than stay under Jin Yunho's control any longer. It was too cruel! Too painful!
Seeing the security guards approach and surround him, Jin Yunho had no choice but to reveal his identity. However, the action of reaching into his pocket and pulling out his credentials startled the guards.
The security guards who had surrounded Jin Yunho all took a big step back, eyeing him as if he were a dangerous criminal. They mistakenly thought Jin Yunho was reaching for a weapon.
Seeing the guards' reaction, Jin Yunho was amused.
What the heck! How come these security guards' minds are like Shen Donghai's, watching too many movies? Always fantasizing about big scenes.
When they saw Jin Yunho pull out a small notebook, the guards finally breathed a sigh of relief.
It's not their fault they were so nervous; the 'victim's' condition was too dire, and Jin Yunho looked so nonchalant, leading them to assume he was a vicious criminal.
Jin Yunho tossed his credentials to the nearest guard and explained, "I am a trainee prosecutor at the Jiangnan Local Supervisory Hall. This is my ID."
The guard who caught the credentials immediately opened it to check, carefully comparing Jin Yunho's appearance with the photo before confirming it was indeed him.
However, the situation seemed even more serious now. They had dealt with fights before, usually by controlling the suspects, mediating, or calling the police. But a trainee prosecutor involved in a fight was something they had never encountered, and they were at a loss.
A security guard who seemed to be the leader approached, returned the credentials to Jin Yunho, and asked cautiously, "Mr. Prosecutor, hello, I am the security team leader. May I ask what happened here?"
It's not that the security leader was being overly submissive and cautious; the difference in status between them was too great. It's like an intern asking the department general manager, "What are you doing?" The nature is similar.
Jin Yunho didn't make a big fuss and simply explained the situation clearly.
Upon hearing this, the security leader knew the matter was serious and beyond their ability to handle. Well, they might as well call the police and let them deal with it. After all, the police and the prosecutors are part of the same family; they can sort it out themselves.
The local police station received the report and, upon hearing that a "trainee prosecutor was attacked by a criminal," was shocked. The command center immediately dispatched over ten police officers to the scene, and notified nearby patrol officers to provide support. They then mobilized the police from nearby stations, ordering all available officers to assist.
Good grief, a simple fight, just because it involved a prosecutor (even a trainee), caused such a commotion in the police station, making the scene quite 'grand.'
Before long, two or three dozen police officers arrived, and the number was still increasing.
What the heck! Is this really necessary?
Jin Yunho also felt that he might have made the situation bigger.
It's not his fault; he hadn't become a prosecutor yet and hadn't interacted with the police, so he didn't understand the subtle relationship between prosecutors and police.
For example, prosecutors are like generals in ancient China, and the police are like soldiers. Normally, 'generals don't know the soldiers,' but when it comes to investigations, prosecutors have the authority to command the police within their jurisdiction, and even the police chief must follow their orders.
In a sense, prosecutors and police are part of the same family.
Moreover, if a prosecutor is harmed on the police's turf, not only does it tarnish the police's reputation, but they might also face the wrath of the supervisory hall. The people in the supervisory hall are not easy to deal with; a small mistake during an investigation can lead to serious consequences.
Therefore, from any perspective, when the police heard that their 'boss' was attacked by a criminal, their reaction was justified. The grand scene can be understood.
If the security guard who reported the incident had explained the situation clearly, they would have only sent a few police officers to take the criminal away, and that would have been it. There was no need for such a large-scale response.
At this point, the crowd had already been dispersed, and the police had set up a perimeter, ready for action.
Seeing this scene, the security leader who reported the incident was terrified, and the thugs on the ground were petrified.
The man in the tank top inwardly wailed in pain: I just came to mess around, what the heck? Do you really need so many police to catch us?
He thought he was dealing with a tough opponent, but he never imagined it would be this tough! Now he wished he were dead.
To prevent the situation from escalating further, Jin Yunho had to quickly explain the situation to the police.
"Mr. Jin Yunho, we understand the situation you described. We will take these suspects to the district police station, but we also need you to come with us to give a statement," a police captain said to Jin Yunho.
"Sure..." Jin Yunho was about to agree when his phone rang. "Excuse me, I need to take this call."
Jin Yunho: "Hello, who is this?"
"It's me, Li Xiaoran. I'm calling to invite you to a gathering tonight," Li Xiaoran's pleasant voice came through the phone.
"Can I refuse?" Jin Yunho was somewhat reluctant to see Li Xiaoran again, as he had just 'broken up.'
"…My family wants to meet you," Li Xiaoran said after a moment of silence.
"Oh, okay, but I'm currently in some trouble and might not be able to come right away," Jin Yunho could refuse Li Xiaoran, but he couldn't refuse her family.
"What kind of trouble?" Li Xiaoran asked anxiously.
Jin Yunho briefly explained the current situation.
Li Xiaoran said, "Wait a moment," and hung up.
Less than three minutes later, the police captain's phone rang. After nodding and bowing to answer the call, he ran to Jin Yunho and said respectfully, "Mr. Jin Yunho, you can leave now. If you have time tomorrow, please come to the Jiulao District Police Station to give a statement."
The implication was: You can go, it's not your problem anymore. If you want to give a statement, you can, but if you don't, it's fine; we'll handle it for you.
Jin Yunho understood and smiled at the police captain, thinking: It really helps to have connections!
He then politely exchanged business cards with the police captain before leaving.
After Jin Yunho left, a young police officer approached the captain and asked quietly, "Captain, who called just now? Why did you let that trainee prosecutor go? What about the statement?"
The police captain proudly put away Jin Yunho's business card and patted the young officer's head, "Don't ask what you shouldn't. The more you know, the faster you die. Statement? Wasn't it already recorded? Let's go… take the suspects back, we have a busy night ahead."
