In the seventh year of Emperor David Jingyuan,
During the sacrifice to heaven, the Imperial Astronomical Bureau suddenly caught fire. The flames were extremely fierce, and from Prince Wu Qian Zhen to the director of the bureau Xu Qi, down to the 1,307 guards and soldiers, none survived.
After the fire was extinguished, six characters were found on the celestial altar used for the sacrifice: they were deeply carved into the stone with a sharp tool, and upon identification, they were recognized as the handwriting of Prince Wu Qian Zhen, each word dripping with blood and piercing the heart:
A demonic star appears, the world will be in chaos!
The following year, the demonic star appeared in mid-autumn, visible in the west for over twenty days, passing through the constellations of Wuxu, Dongjing, Xuanyuan, Houfei, and Taowei, its fiery tip pointing towards the imperial throne.
Emperor Wei died suddenly ten days later, and the world was divided into five parts, with incessant battles and countless white bones littering the fields.
The territory of David was ultimately divided among the five countries of Northern Qi, Southern Zheng, Western Rong, Eastern Xia, and Central Tang. These five countries, adhering to the principle of forming alliances with distant states while attacking nearby ones, checked each other, each with their own concerns, forming a situation of multiple states standing side by side, and the world was somewhat stabilized.
As the saying goes, heroes emerge in times of chaos.
During this period of turmoil, many hidden schools of thought emerged, including Confucianism, Legalism, Mohism, Daoism, Yin-Yang, Logic, Miscellaneous, Agrarian, Fiction, and Diplomacy, among others.
The various schools of thought established academies, competing for talented individuals, absorbing new blood, and striving to serve the state, become generals and ministers, and expand their influence. This period is historically known as the Contention of the Hundred Schools of Thought.
The Contention of the Hundred Schools of Thought appeared to flourish culture, but in reality, the hidden struggles were brutally cruel, merely cloaked in a veneer of civilization. Behind the scenes, each school was doing its utmost to eliminate the others, with the sole aim of suppressing the other schools to achieve sole supremacy!
