Chapter 6 of 10
Chapter 6

After choosing the skills, the next step is to increase the level. I have around 80 points to use. I need to make a careful and quick decision. The skill levels go up to 10. Levels 1 to 3 are beginner, levels 4 to 6 are intermediate, and anything above that is advanced. I don't know what criteria they use to divide them into beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
"Well, I guess it's up to fate."
I can't know the right answer now. Even if I decide based on common sense or game knowledge, it can change with the whims of the gods. So, there's no point in hesitating. My actions were quick.
I set Appraisal to level 3, Concealment to level 3, Detection to level 3, Fire Magic to level 4, Spirit Magic to level 1, and Intuition to level 4.
The points used are 8, 8, 8, 16, 10, and 16, totaling 66 points.
I have 44 points left.
I kept Spirit Magic at level 1 because it has a high point cost and isn't for combat, and I raised Fire Magic to level 4. The others are at level 3. I thought this was a good balance considering the point distribution.
"All that's left is to choose the race and distribute the remaining points."
I returned to the race page and thought.
Tengu have a high nose, which might mean I can't turn over in bed.
So, I ruled them out.
It's a straightforward thought, but I think it's fine.
The point costs are 30 for Elves, 70 for Dragonborn, and 40 for Vampires.
In terms of parameters, Dragonborn > Vampires >> Elves > Humans.
If I stay human, I can use all 44 points, but the parameters are low. If I choose a half-Dragonborn, I can use 35 points, which is just enough. But, I have a nagging thought: Is this really the best choice?
"Dhampir..."
I suddenly remembered. A Dhampir is a half-Vampire. Come to think of it, the only half-races with names are Half-Elf, Dhampir, and Draconian. Thinking about Dhampirs made me curious.
I think the description of half-races was only for Vampires.
"..."
The description said that Vampires are persecuted. Half-Vampires are also persecuted, which is why they were specifically mentioned. It also said that Vampires need to drink blood regularly.
There are too many negative factors. However, no matter how much my reason denies it, my intuition is drawn to it. I can't look away from the Vampire option.
Whether to follow my intuition or not is also a question of whether to trust myself.
"..."
I hesitated. After about a minute, I checked the Vampire and Half-Vampire options...
"I don't know if this is right. But, I'll probably regret whatever I do. So, I need to make the best path possible. I want to trust my intuition. Yes, I want to trust it..."
The remaining time is less than 5 minutes. I have 24 points left. To make the best path, I quickly checked my status.
============================
Various Parameters

* Each parameter can be increased by 1 point.
Height and three sizes can be exchanged at a rate of 1 cm = 1 point.
The face will change to fit the race, based on the original appearance.
For a handsome face, please specify your desired look.
The staff will decide based on their discretion and bias. No complaints will be accepted, so be careful not to aim too high.
(If you recognize someone, you will mysteriously recognize each other, so don't worry)
============================
The parameters are higher than human but lower than Vampire. I decided that I didn't need to allocate points to the parameters and checked the other options.
I kept my gender as male, and my face and height as they are.
"Let's see if I should allocate the remaining points to skills."
I reviewed my skill distribution. How to allocate 24 points.
Appraisal Level 3
Concealment Level 3
Detection Level 3
Fire Magic Level 4
Spirit Magic Level 1
Intuition Level 4
I raised Concealment to level 4 because it's better to have a higher concealment skill if I'm a Dhampir. I have 16 points left. I can raise a level 4 skill, raise two level 3 skills, or raise Spirit Magic to level 2 and allocate the remaining points to items or parameters. After some thought, I raised Intuition to level 5 to enhance my strength.
"Done..."
The remaining time is less than 2 minutes. The final selection screen appears.

Kyōhei: "The confirmation messages are annoying."
God: "This is also a test from the gods! It's a question to see if you really have confidence in your choices. But, there was supposed to be more. The staff opposed it, so it was removed."
Kyōhei: "Staff, good job."
God: "Ah, I wanted to see you flustered and irritated."
Kyōhei: "That line was unnecessary!"
