As soon as he left the mole's ward and turned a corner, Zhang Da Dao leaned against the wall. He wiped the non-existent cold sweat from his forehead and, with a deadpan expression, muttered to himself in a highly disdainful tone, "Tricking kids is such a hassle! After dealing with the naive ones, I still have to deal with the precocious ones. Luckily, I'm already crazy! Otherwise, I'd definitely go insane!"
After saying this, Zhang Da Dao suddenly started to laugh foolishly, "Hehe," and laughed for quite a while. It wasn't until a passing nurse approached him with a suspicious look that he calmed down. After finally getting rid of the nurse, Zhang Da Dao made his way upstairs. He arrived at a ward, tried the door, and found it slightly ajar. He gently pushed it open and entered the room. As soon as he entered, Zhang Da Dao squinted his eyes. The curtains in the ward were drawn tightly, making it almost as dark as night.
It was only when Zhang Da Dao opened the door that some light entered. Such thick curtains in a ward were quite rare. With the light from the open door, he could see a small figure hugging its knees in one corner of the room. As Zhang Da Dao closed the door, plunging the ward back into darkness, he said, "Pulling the curtains again? Did you see something bad again?"
A somewhat cold, childlike voice came from the darkness, "When I woke up this morning, everything was shrouded in a red glow, even more intense than usual. Oh? You have two layers of light around you, one very red and one very blue. It's really strange, only you are like this."
Zhang Da Dao nodded indifferently, not caring whether the person in the darkness could see him. After nodding, he sat down and said, "I know, red means bad things, and blue means good things, right? I can see some of it, but not as clearly as you. It seems the red light in the forehead is real! You were right, someone in Building 3 died this morning."
Seemingly adapting to the darkness, Zhang Da Dao could faintly make out the figure. The person sitting in the corner, hugging their knees, was a girl in a dress. If the mole was a little girl, this one should be called a big lolita. The big lolita held a colored pencil in her hand, her head buried in her arms, and her hair hanging over her shoulders. It was still too dark to see her expression clearly.
The big lolita remained silent, and Zhang Da Dao rolled his eyes. He said, "What did the fat guys say about your condition? Depression, right?" The big lolita nodded slightly, and Zhang Da Dao, unsure if he saw it, continued.
"You being here isn't helping. Hospitals are full of bad things, not good ones. With your ability to see good and bad, seeing all these unfortunate things all day would make anyone miserable! You should move to a place next to the Civil Affairs Bureau!"
The big lolita coldly replied, "Marriage is the grave of love, and the Civil Affairs Bureau is also full of bad things!"
Zhang Da Dao was taken aback, rubbed his chin, and admitted defeat with a hint of helplessness, "Alright, you have a point. But it doesn't matter, you're going to be discharged soon anyway. You're still young, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to find a suitable place to live."
The big lolita nodded, and seeing that she wasn't speaking again, Zhang Da Dao, with a hint of urgency, spoke up again, "How about the thing I mentioned last time?" A rare glint of longing appeared in Zhang Da Dao's eyes.
The big lolita suddenly lifted her head and looked at Zhang Da Dao for a long time before speaking, "The blue light around you is trembling. Why do you want this?"
Zhang Da Dao thought for a moment and said, "Didn't I tell you last time? I need a blue pencil for my drawing."
The big lolita let out a sarcastic "Huh" and said, "If you need a blue pencil, why don't you get a bottle of blue ink from the pharmacy? Besides, last time you said you needed it to fix your lamp as a stand."
"Ah? Did I say that?" Zhang Da Dao scratched his head and then said frankly, "It's the same. I'll draw first, then fix the lamp! It's just a colored pencil, will you give it to me or not? I've come here so many times, it's tiring!" Zhang Da Dao wiped his eyes as he spoke.
The big lolita suddenly crawled to Zhang Da Dao's front and stared at him for a long time. Her dark eyes glinted eerily in the darkness. Zhang Da Dao, with a deadpan expression, stared back at her, showing no change in his expression. The atmosphere was quite strange. After a while, the big lolita sighed.
"Fine, I'll give you one! You're so old and still lying! You must want to see more blue, right? My grandmother only gave me two, so I'll give you one!" The big lolita said, pushing the colored pencil into Zhang Da Dao's hand.
While Zhang Da Dao was still stunned, the big lolita crawled back to the corner and sat down, hugging her knees, looking at the colored pencil in her hand. Zhang Da Dao raised an eyebrow and said to the big lolita, "Alright, you're almost discharged, so I won't say more. Your grandmother is a wise person. Since you can see strange colors, listen to her and don't tell others. Otherwise, you'll end up back here!"
"Hmph~" The big lolita sniffed, and Zhang Da Dao turned and got up, opening the door to leave. Just as he was about to go out, he suddenly turned his head and said, "Try to get more sun, you're so pale it's scary."
With that, he didn't wait for the big lolita's reaction, stuck the pencil behind his ear, and hummed a song as he walked out of the rehabilitation center: "I'm a great thief, I'm not afraid of anything. I'm not afraid, not afraid at all, with schizophrenia, I'm not afraid of anything..." The jumbled song, mixed with Zhang Da Dao's tone-deaf voice, sounded even stranger.
A passing nurse almost dropped the medicine she was holding when she heard him. She glared at Zhang Da Dao, who adjusted the pencil in his ear, rolled his eyes, and muttered, "Pale red? This nurse is about to have some bad luck! Hmm, looks like she's going to be cheated on by her boyfriend! I noticed the peach blossom red on him before, it was strange, it's a peach blossom disaster."
Zhang Da Dao happily left the rehabilitation building and headed back to Building 3. When he returned, it was time for lunch. He ate the lunch delivered by the nursing assistant. While munching on an apple, he played with the blue colored pencil and muttered, "The grandmother of this little pencil is a wise person!"
Just as he was muttering, Su Jinjin entered the room, looking worried. He sat down next to Zhang Da Dao and whispered mysteriously, "Do you think this place is bad for love? Would it be better if I transferred to the outpatient department?"
Zhang Da Dao was taken aback and looked at him, "You really believe that? I was just saying it off the cuff."
Su Jinjin nodded seriously, "I think it makes sense. I just asked around, and all the young doctors and nursing assistants here are single. The married doctors all got married elsewhere before transferring here. And even then, many of them got divorced after transferring here!"
Zhang Da Dao laughed and said, "You're silly! There are only a few young people, and if you tell someone you work in a mental hospital, do you think they'll be interested? Divorce isn't strange, the divorce rate is over 50% now, and the stress here is huge. Stay away, seeing you is bad luck!"
Su Jinjin muttered as he was chased away by Zhang Da Dao. Zhang Da Dao watched his back and said, "As I thought, I didn't miscalculate. The red light around him is strange, something is definitely going to happen to him!"
"Who's going to have something happen to them?" A sudden voice from behind made Zhang Da Dao shudder.
