Chapter 29

Since he had just obtained a new talent, Ma Le immediately opened the talent interface, where the talents were explained in detail. After consulting, Ma Le realized that he had indeed obtained an extraordinary talent.

The Absolute Defense talent has three effects, all of which enhance defense. The first effect reduces the defense constant to 50. The defense constant is the constant 100 added to the health value in the defense calculation formula “Defense = Health Value / (Health Value + 100) × 100%”. Reducing this constant from 100 to 50 means that, under the same health value, Ma Le's defense is much higher than others.

The second effect increases the defense priority by one level. After consulting, Ma Le learned that there is a priority system in Miracle City. Many talent and skill effects can conflict, and in such cases, the effect with the higher priority will take precedence. The priority levels range from 0 to 5, and the default priority for defense is level 3, meaning that only effects that reduce defense by level 3 or higher can take effect. With this talent, Ma Le's defense priority increases by one level to 4, which means that all level 3 defense reduction effects are ineffective against him.

The third effect is easier to understand: all life reduction effects are subject to defense. Originally, defense only applied to physical damage, but with this talent, Ma Le's defense talent will cover all types of damage, including life removal and life drain effects that are not considered damage.

In summary, with the "Absolute Defense" talent, the effect of Ma Le's health attribute has been significantly enhanced! Looking at this powerful talent, Ma Le couldn't help but regret not allocating 60 points to strength as well! He might have obtained another powerful talent!

Additionally, Ma Le discovered that the absorption and disguise abilities he obtained in the Prototype world were also categorized as talents.

Thus, Ma Le now has three major talents: "Unknown Constitution," which is not affected by critical hit bonuses; "Absolute Defense," which greatly enhances defense; and "Prototype Body," which is granted by the Blacklight virus.

Prototype Body: A creature that has perfectly combined with and evolved from the Blacklight virus, possessing the abilities of absorption, mimicry, and mutation.

Absorption: The Prototype Body can absorb creatures with current health values below 100 points or less than 5% of their maximum health. It can read part of their memories and gain a healing effect equal to 50% of the absorbed creature's maximum health. If the absorbed creature is very powerful or has certain special abilities, the Prototype Body has a chance to gain attribute or ability enhancements. The absorption ability has a digestion time, which varies based on the strength comparison between the Prototype Body and the absorbed creature. The stronger the absorbed creature relative to the Prototype Body, the longer the digestion time; conversely, the shorter the digestion time.

Mimicry: The Prototype Body can mimic medium-sized humanoid creatures that have been absorbed. In mimicry mode, the Prototype Body can perfectly simulate the absorbed creature's appearance, scent, voice, and all other physiological characteristics. The strength attribute of the Prototype Body is constrained in mimicry mode, with a reduction of up to 50% and a minimum of 20% based on the size of the mimicry target. The Prototype Body cannot use the mutation ability in mimicry mode.

Mutation: The Prototype Body can mutate its body into a form more suitable for combat. This ability is generally obtained when the Prototype Body absorbs creatures with high genetic compatibility.

Mutations already obtained:

Iron Fists: Coats the hands with a hard keratin gauntlet to increase attack and defense. After mutation, the hands' armor increases by 100 points, and the standard unarmed attack power increases by 50 points.

...

After reading all the introductions, Ma Le satisfactorily exited the talent interface. He then thought for a moment and entered the skill interface, as he still had 80 skill points to allocate.

Ma Le currently has three skills:

Iron Bones (Level 3): The Iron Bones skill increases the adventurer's health value. Each level of Iron Bones allows each point of health to provide an additional point of health. (Insufficient data, unable to evaluate level)

Swift (Level 2): The Swift skill increases the adventurer's movement speed. Each level of Swift allows each 20 points of agility to provide an additional point of movement speed. (Insufficient data, unable to evaluate level)

Feigned Death (Level 1): An adventurer with the Feigned Death skill can enter a feigned death state when injured. The feigned death state can mask all vital signs, even fooling the Miracle City system. When the adventurer is severely injured and loses consciousness, the Feigned Death skill will activate automatically. The skill has a 30-minute cooldown and consumes 5 points of mental energy. Each level reduces the cooldown by 3 minutes and the mental energy consumption by 1 point, with a minimum of 0. (Skill rating: D)

Looking at the skill descriptions, Iron Bones and Swift were undoubtedly the most meaningful to enhance. However, when Ma Le tried to upgrade them, he was bitterly informed by the system: "This skill is not included in the Miracle City system and cannot be upgraded!" Ma Le couldn't help but sigh that even the protagonist's aura has its limits, and the skills brought from the game were actually excluded!

With no other choice, Ma Le could only choose to enhance the Feigned Death skill. This upgrade was significant, and the skill points decreased like water. After consulting, Ma Le learned that skill upgrades do not work as he imagined, where one point adds one level. Instead, the required skill points increase with the level. In general, upgrading from level (n-1) to level n requires n skill points. For example, upgrading from level 1 to level 2 requires 2 skill points, from level 2 to level 3 requires 3 skill points, and so on. Additionally, at every 5th level or at the maximum level, the required skill points double, and the skill gains special effects. If the maximum level is a multiple of 5, the required skill points triple, but the special effects at these levels are generally very powerful!

Therefore, Ma Le spent 74 skill points to upgrade the Feigned Death skill to its maximum level of 10, which is just a D-level skill. The higher the skill rating, the more skill points required!

From this, it was clear that Ma Le's 80 skill points, which he was proud of, were not much... However, seeing the special effects of the Feigned Death skill at levels 5 and 10, he felt better.

Feigned Death skill level 5 special effect: Can be activated without injury.

Feigned Death skill level 10 special effect: Can withstand one fatal blow. This effect can be activated once every 12 hours, with a priority level of 3.

Ma Le never expected the ultimate special effect of the Feigned Death skill to be so powerful. Withstanding a fatal blow, if used well, is like having an extra life! The skill points were not wasted!

With the attribute points and skill points allocated, only the merit points remained. Ma Le learned that merit points are used to increase the rank, and the higher the rank, the more privileges one has in Miracle City. However, this could not be done in the room and required going to a specific location.

Thus, all rewards were allocated. Ma Le opened the overview interface and saw his current overall status:

Name: Ma Le

Gender: Male

Height: 1.88m

Weight: 96kg

Health: 780 points

Mental Energy: 29 points

Health Recovery Speed: 60 points per hour

Mental Energy Recovery Speed: 9 points per hour

Armor: 30 points

Defense: 54.5%

Resistance: 13.6% (Damage resistance equals defense: 54.5%)

Standard Movement Speed: 64 points

Standard Attack Power (unarmed): 59 points

...

Seeing his vastly improved physical attributes, Ma Le was filled with confidence for the future. He couldn't help but think of the five veteran adventurers who almost killed him and muttered to himself, "I'll settle the score with you sooner or later!"

Returning to the main interface, Ma Le confirmed his choices, and the laser screen disappeared. The electronic voice sounded again: "Adventurer No. 110405 has confirmed the allocation of rewards from the trial world. Now beginning the fusion of the Miracle Emblem!"

Ma Le perked up at the mention of the Miracle Emblem. He had already seen its wonders. A light orb gradually appeared where the laser screen had disappeared, growing larger and brighter until it was the size of a fist. It flew to Ma Le and shot into his head. The electronic voice then prompted: "Now please construct the specific form of the Miracle Emblem in your mind. The characteristics of the Miracle Emblem are as follows:

1. The volume of the Miracle Emblem must not exceed 100 cubic centimeters and must not be less than 100 cubic millimeters.

2. The Miracle Emblem cannot be damaged, cannot be used for low-level attacks, and cannot leave the adventurer by more than 100 meters. It can be summoned to the adventurer's hand at any time.

3. The Miracle Emblem can be constructed into any item, including complex electronic mechanical products. When constructing, only the shape and function need to be set, and as long as it meets the mainstream civilian technology of the real world, it can be successfully constructed.

4. The Miracle Emblem has multiple functions, including scanning, recording, navigation, communication, accepting tasks, storing items, querying attributes, and allocating rewards.

5. The Miracle Emblem will disappear upon the adventurer's death, and killing other adventurers will not grant the use of their Miracle Emblem.

6. Once the Miracle Emblem is set, it cannot be changed. Please consider carefully."

After listening to the introduction, Ma Le thought for a moment. He had been using a phone in the real world for several years and had planned to buy a new one with his salary, but then the incident with his boss happened... Now that he had the opportunity, why not create a phone?

So, Ma Le began to construct a phone-like Miracle Emblem in his mind. He chose a popular tablet touch screen design, with a bright silver traditional "Ma" character logo on the back. The details were casual. For the functions, Ma Le added almost everything he had heard of, even some that phones don't have, like a lighter and a razor. When he tried, the system informed him that it was feasible, so he added them all. After nearly half an hour of brainstorming, Ma Le finally settled on the final design. A phone with incredibly powerful performance but a design and functions that exuded a strong sense of being a knockoff appeared in his hand.

"Ha ha! I have a Miracle Emblem too!" Ma Le declared, raising the phone high.
