Chapter 1 of 100
Chapter 1

Suddenly, I, Yamagata Kosei, have awakened.
On the very night of my middle school graduation ceremony, a voice echoed in my head.
‘You have acquired a skill.’
‘As a result, you can now enter and conquer dungeons.’
‘System: The “Status” function has been unlocked. From now on, you can check your status.’
Oh!? I made a big fuss, and my family panicked, asking what was wrong. It was all in good fun.
A hundred years ago, countless caves, known as dungeons, appeared all over the world. These dungeons are said to still hold unknown values and discoveries. Only those with special abilities called skills can enter such dungeons.
In this modern era, known as the Great Dungeon Age, I suddenly acquired a skill. Of course, I was excited, and my family was surprised, worried, and excited too.
Anyway, I have truly awakened, not just from the delusions of omnipotence typical of adolescence.
“Status”
Name: Yamagata Kosei
Level: 1
Title: You are still no one
Unlocked Skills:
Name: Walk in a Wilderness Where Even the Wind Does Not Blow
This is my status. It's simpler than I thought, and there are no numerical values for each ability, which I feel quite frankly.
But I don't really want to see my strengths and weaknesses in numbers. The greatest weapon of a dungeon surveyor, also known as an explorer, is wisdom, courage, and skills, especially skills.
As long as I understand these, it's fine. Also, I recently learned from the new explorer training at the Explorer Guild that titles subtly enhance one's abilities.
So, how are the details of my skills and title? I touch the skills and titles on the semi-transparent status that only I can see, which floats in front of me—my sister said it looks like pantomime when I operate it in front of people—and the explanations appear.
Skill
Name: Walk in a Wilderness Where Even the Wind Does Not Blow
Explanation: Proudly and like a beast. You become the wind.
Effect: When fighting alone, all abilities are multiplied by 10.
Title: You are still no one
Explanation: Who you become is shown by your steps.
Effect: None
This is the detailed information. Even the flavor text is quite charming.
The title seems to be the initial one, with no special effects, so I'll skip it.
The skill, "Walk in a Wilderness Where Even the Wind Does Not Blow," is apparently a rare type in the field. The guild's dedicated appraiser, who can see even third-party statuses with the skill "Appraisal," was particularly impressed.
Apparently, skill names are usually not poetic, and having an explanation like this is considered abnormal.
Typically, skills have simple names like "Swordsmanship" or "Scouting" and brief effect descriptions.
The effects are usually more like auxiliary boosts to help you become stronger, such as "Swordsmanship: Faster learning of sword combat techniques" or "Scouting: Ability to sense the presence of surroundings, with the range expanding as you become more skilled."
My skill, "Walk in a Wilderness Where Even the Wind Does Not Blow," with its crude and extreme boost effect, is unprecedented among explorers.
When asked if I had any idea about it, of course, I didn't. I was just about to enjoy my spring break before starting high school, feeling carefree after finishing my exams, when this happened. I had to submit a bunch of documents to the Explorer Guild and attend intensive training from morning till night.
To top it off, I was told to conquer a beginner dungeon under the supervision of an inspector before the start of school, which has completely ruined my spring break.
In other words, I'm a complete novice. I can only answer "Yes" or "No" to any questions.
"Alright, let's begin the final test for new explorers."
"Please."
So, here I am, entering the beginner dungeon.
It's only two days before my high school entrance ceremony, and this is the deadline for conquering the beginner dungeon.
I've received some theoretical training and light exercises, but it feels like a real test, which makes me a bit anxious. However, with the inspector around, it should be fine. The only thing that worries me is that I have to explore alone due to my skill.
The beginner dungeon I'm entering has only one underground floor with three rooms, making it a perfect tutorial.
The content is simple: wires are strung along the walls, and the lighting is bright. The dirt path and outer walls are unnaturally illuminated, reminiscent of mine shafts I've seen on TV.
I hope it doesn't collapse. With some anxiety, I began my conquest.
It's been a while. I'll be writing what I want as a form of rehabilitation.
Ratings and favorites are the author's food.
Please, I kindly ask for your support.
