Chapter 56

Xu Jingming and the other four transformed into five streaks of light and landed on a desolate plain.

"Hmm?" Xu Jingming looked ahead, and in the vast wilderness, a large alien army was visible in the distance.

"To the Limu Combat Team, during the preliminary round, your weapons and equipment will be supplied without limit, but your physical exhaustion and injuries cannot be restored by the system before the end of the preliminary round. Please allocate your stamina reasonably," a voice echoed in the ears of Xu Jingming and the others. "Five minutes from now, the orc army ahead will launch an attack! Your task is to completely annihilate this orc army."

"The orc army consists of one thousand orc soldiers. The number of soldiers killed by all participating teams will be publicly displayed in real-time!"

"Killing all orc soldiers will be considered as annihilating the orc army."

"Remember, only the fastest thirty teams will advance to the main event."

Xu Jingming and the others immediately began preparing their weapons and equipment.

"Five people against an army?" Wang Yi said, "Fortunately, the weapons and equipment are supplied without limit, otherwise, we wouldn't be able to carry so many arrows."

"Pay attention to the reasonable allocation of stamina," Xu Jingming said, "Everyone must wear armor, not leather armor. I can see... the orc army has many cavalry with bows and arrows."

"They are bow cavalry," Yang Qingshuo nodded seriously, "And there are heavy cavalry as well. What are those army leaders riding? Such large mounts!"

While selecting their equipment, Xu Jingming and the others carefully observed the distant orc army.

The orcs had brown skin and ugly faces. The majority were infantry! There were also snow wolf light cavalry with bows and arrows, and even more terrifying heavy cavalry. A few leaders could be faintly seen, each riding a massive ground dragon.

At this moment, the orc army was also observing the five humans, and the leaders were already giving orders to their subordinates.

...

In the Xia Kingdom's official live broadcast room, the number of viewers had already exceeded 1 billion! It could be said that at this late hour, the vast majority of people in the Xia Kingdom were watching the official live broadcast.

"821 god-level teams," the host Liu Xin said, "Each god-level team needs to annihilate an orc army. Only the fastest thirty teams will advance to the main event, with the opportunity to face off against Teacher Liu Hai and Teacher Lei Yunfang's teams."

"This preliminary round mechanism is quite interesting," Liu Hai nodded in agreement, "The number of soldiers killed by all participating teams is publicly displayed in real-time. This means every team can know the number of kills of other teams. Even teams that hide their strength... must ensure they are among the top 30!"

"Teams outside the top 30 need to take greater risks and fight harder. Otherwise, even if they annihilate the orc army, they will still be eliminated if they are not in the top 30," Lei Yunfang nodded, "And it looks like this orc army is not easy to deal with."

"Let me inform the two teachers," Liu Xin looked at the data in his hand and smiled, "The design difficulty of the orc army is such that the vast majority of god-level teams will be wiped out, with a pass rate controlled at about 10%."

"Ten percent?" Liu Hai and Lei Yunfang both nodded slightly.

"If they take risks to pursue speed, the pass rate may further decrease," Liu Xin said, "Of course, there will still be thirty teams that pass! Please trust the virtual world system's calculation ability."

"Alright, the orc army's attack is officially beginning!" Liu Xin looked at the live broadcast scene behind him.

******

On the desolate plain, there was no cover.

On one side were Xu Jingming and the other four, and on the other side was the orc army.

"Orc army attack countdown, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6... 3, 2, 1!"

At the end of the countdown,

A leader of the orc army could be seen waving his sword from a distance, issuing orders in orc language.

Immediately, the orc infantry began to charge, and the snow wolf light cavalry also moved. These light cavalry split into two groups, advancing from both sides of Xu Jingming and the others.

"Whoosh!" The snow wolf light cavalry on both sides raised their bows and shot arrows simultaneously.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!

Arrows rained down!

Xu Jingming and the others experienced the feeling of "arrows raining down." At the same time, three hundred arrows fell, and Xu Jingming and the others were moving, unwilling to be live targets. Dozens of arrows landed in their area.

"Raise shields." Xu Jingming, Liu Chongyuan, Heng Fang, and Yang Qingshuo all raised their shields, completely blocking the sky and protecting the entire team.

The sound of arrows hitting the shields and leg armor could be heard, clattering.

"Fortunately, they are just ordinary arrows. If they were armor-piercing arrows shot by god-level archers, we would be in trouble," Yang Qingshuo said.

"If the three hundred bow cavalry were all comparable to god-level archers, only the team leader might be able to resist, and the rest of us would be finished," Heng Fang said.

"The infantry will be here soon, Yi, it's up to you then," Xu Jingming said.

"Don't worry," Wang Yi nodded.

The archers suppressed the orcs in three waves, and the orc infantry finally reached close range, with the distant arrows stopping to avoid hitting the infantry.

"They're here." Xu Jingming and Liu Chongyuan both held two shields, responsible for protecting the team, mainly to protect the god-level archer Wang Yi! The orc soldiers were too numerous, and both of them using shields was more appropriate.

Heng Fang held a snake spear, and Yang Qingshuo held a silver spear, responsible for killing the orc soldiers that got close.

"Roar"

The orc soldiers roared as they charged, and in a moment, over ten orc soldiers attacked simultaneously.

Most of them thrust with long spears, while others threw chain maces and axes, all aimed at Xu Jingming and the others.

"Boom, boom" Xu Jingming blocked and shook his shields on both sides, causing the orcs on the left to stagger back, and those on the right to fall. Liu Chongyuan's two larger shields also blocked a group of orc soldiers.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Wang Yi began rapid-fire archery, pulling the bow to a half-circle and shooting, with three arrows at a time!

Three arrows at once! In a blink, nine arrows!

The most terrifying part was that each arrow hit the head of an orc soldier.

Wang Yi's expression was calm, and she had a rhythm to drawing and shooting arrows. Only when an arrow quiver was empty and she had to retrieve another from the virtual world system was there a slight pause. Otherwise, she shot arrows mercilessly.

"Yi is amazing," Yang Qingshuo shouted.

"Yi is awesome," Heng Fang laughed, holding a snake spear, while Yang Qingshuo held a long spear, responsible for killing some of the orcs that got closer.

While Wang Yi's rapid-fire archery slaughtered the soldiers, Heng Fang and Yang Qingshuo had it much easier. Xu Jingming and Liu Chongyuan only needed to protect their teammates.

Whoosh~

A large number of orc soldiers, like waves, continuously charged at Xu Jingming's team, one wave after another, trying to completely overwhelm them.

Xu Jingming's team was like a "reef" under the massive waves, resisting the orcs' frenzied attacks.

Xu Jingming looked up.

In the sky, the number of soldiers killed by all teams was displayed.

1st: Zhou Yi Combat Team (Leader: Zhou Yi), 205 kills

2nd: Xianzi Combat Team (Leader: Zhang Qing), 183 kills

...

5th: Limu Combat Team (Leader: Xu Jingming), 152 kills

6th: Tianyin Combat Team (Leader: Zhuang Ziyu), 139 kills

...

10th: Jinpeng Combat Team (Leader: Tielian Yun), 123 kills

11th: Shield Axe Combat Team (Leader: Xiong Tianshan), 122 kills

...

19th: FL Combat Team (Leader: Fang Yu), 98 kills

...

33rd: White Horse Combat Team (Leader: Zheng Bailong), 69 kills

...

821st: Happy Combat Team (Leader: Pang Yun), 12 kills

The number of kills by all teams in the sky was constantly changing, and the rankings were also shifting. The main focus was on the top thirty teams.
