"Get up," "Get up."
A faint call, seemingly from beyond the heavens, startled Han Li from his deep sleep. Upon opening his eyes, he saw a large face right in front of him. Startled, Han Li shrank back a bit, then realized that the owner of this terrifying face was another child, Zhang Tie.
"Quick, eat something. After dinner, we need to go see Master Mo." Zhang Tie handed Han Li two steaming buns.
"Where did you find food?" Han Li was taken aback for a moment before accepting the food.
"There's a large kitchen near the valley. I saw everyone getting food there, so I got some too. After eating, I realized you hadn't eaten yet, so I got you two more buns." Zhang Tie smiled honestly at Han Li.
"Thank you, Brother Zhang." Han Li felt a bit moved. Seeing that Zhang Tie was much more mature than himself, he couldn't help but call him "Brother Zhang."
"It's... it's nothing. I'm used to doing things at home. If I don't do something, I always feel... a bit uneasy. If you need any help in the future, just let me know. I don't have much, but I have plenty of strength." Zhang Tie seemed a bit embarrassed, and his words were a bit stammered.
Han Li hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch and was quite hungry. He finished the buns in a few bites, and in no time, the two large buns were completely gone.
"It's not early anymore. Let's go see Master Mo." Han Li burped a few times, looked at the setting sun outside the window, and calculated the time, thinking it was time to see Doctor Mo.
Zhang Tie had no objections and followed Han Li to Doctor Mo's room.
Inside Doctor Mo's room, bookshelves lined the walls, filled with various books.
"Master Mo!"
"Master Mo!"
...
Doctor Mo was sitting in a large armchair, engrossed in a book, seemingly unaware of their arrival and the calls. Since they were just children, Han Li and Zhang Tie, seeing that Doctor Mo was ignoring them, became unsure of what to do and could only stand by and wait.
It wasn't until Han Li's feet started to feel numb that Doctor Mo slowly put the book down on the side table, gave them a cold look, picked up a cup of tea, took a few sips, and then slowly said:
"From today on, you two are my registered disciples. I will teach you some basic knowledge about gathering and refining herbs, and perhaps some medical skills to save lives, but I will not teach you martial arts." Doctor Mo's face was expressionless as he put the tea cup down again.
"I have a set of cultivation incantations to teach you. Although they won't help you defeat enemies, they will strengthen your bodies. If you really want to learn some martial arts, you can go to the instructors, and I won't object. However, in six months, I will only test your progress with these incantations. If you fail, you will be sent to the outer sect as outer disciples. Do you understand?"
"We understand." Han Li and Zhang Tie answered in unison.
"You two can leave now. Come back early tomorrow morning." Doctor Mo waved them away and picked up the book again.
Before leaving, Han Li couldn't help but glance at the book in Doctor Mo's hand. Unfortunately, he couldn't read, and only saw three large black characters. Sadly, they knew him, but he didn't know them.
Stepping out of Doctor Mo's room, Han Li couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. Inside, he had been so tense that he hadn't dared to breathe heavily, and his mind had been tightly wound. Now, he felt much more relaxed and returned to his normal self.
In the following days, Han Li was extremely excited because he was finally a disciple of the Seven Profound Sect, even if only a registered disciple. This was better than the other children who were sent home. Even if he failed the test in six months, he could still become an outer disciple like Uncle San. In Han Li's mind, Uncle San was already a person of high status and prestige, so he didn't really worry about the test in six months. In fact, he secretly hoped he would fail, so he could leave the mountain sooner and see his parents and his beloved younger sister.
In the days that followed, Doctor Mo taught them some medical knowledge in the morning and had them study literacy and basic martial arts knowledge, such as the Twelve Regular Meridians, the Eight Extraordinary Meridians, and the locations of acupoints, in the afternoon with other children. They also practiced horse stances and hit straw dummies to learn basic skills.
A month later, Han Li and Zhang Tie finally separated from the other children. They no longer had time to learn other things because Doctor Mo began teaching them a nameless incantation. Practicing this incantation took up most of their time, and Doctor Mo strictly ordered them not to reveal it to anyone. If they leaked it, they would be severely punished and expelled from the sect.
During this period, Han Li learned more about the Seven Profound Sect and Doctor Mo from others. The Seven Profound Sect had a main master named Wang Lu, who was a direct descendant of the Seven Absolute Immortal, and three deputy masters. The sect was divided into the outer sect and the inner sect. The outer sect had four sub-sects: the Flying Bird Hall, the Treasure Gathering Hall, the Four Seas Hall, and the Outer Blade Hall. The inner sect had four sub-sects: the Hundred Forging Hall, the Seven Absolute Hall, the Venerable Hall, and the Blood Blade Hall. There was also an Elder Council that was on par with the main master and the deputy masters.
Doctor Mo was originally not a disciple of the Seven Profound Sect. A few years ago, when Master Wang Lu was out, he accidentally fell into an enemy's trap and was severely injured, his life hanging by a thread. His companions were at a loss, but Doctor Mo, a skilled physician, happened to be there. Doctor Mo's miraculous skills saved Master Wang Lu's life. Master Wang Lu was extremely grateful and later learned that Doctor Mo not only had excellent medical skills but also had considerable martial arts. He invited Doctor Mo to join the sect and built him a residence in a small valley in the mountains, allowing Doctor Mo to settle down in the Seven Profound Sect and become a venerable of the Venerable Hall. During his time in the Seven Profound Sect, although the disciples had never seen his martial arts skills and didn't know how strong he was, he saved many lives with his excellent medical skills. Despite his often expressionless and taciturn demeanor, he was respected by the disciples.
