As Qin Yan had said, Ye Feng was quickly transferred to the detention center in Mingzhu City's Changjiang District, which also meant that his case would soon be formally brought to trial.

This was the first time in his life that Ye Feng had entered a detention center. The admission procedures were quite complex, but compared to being beaten at the police station, it felt much more comfortable. Here, Ye Feng was directly out of Liu Yong's sight, even though the detention center was under the jurisdiction of the Changjiang District Public Security Bureau, it was still an independent space.

First, Ye Feng had to stand outside the warning line and shout "report," then take off his clothes, undergo a physical examination, provide fingerprints, and change into the provided clothes. Since Ye Feng was a serious offender, he was also shackled. After completing all these procedures, he was led by a police officer through an iron gate. In front of him was a not-so-big or small area, which he later learned was called the "airing yard," a place for detained suspects to take the air and exercise.

Additionally, all of Ye Feng's documents were confiscated (in fact, they had already been confiscated at the police station and then transferred to the detention center), leaving him only with a bank card. After entering the detention center, Ye Feng would have a dedicated account, where family members would usually deposit money to cover his living expenses. However, the police had not yet contacted Ye Feng's family, or perhaps Liu Yong had never intended to notify them. Therefore, Ye Feng had to pay the money himself.

After transferring the money through the bank and completing the relevant procedures, Ye Feng passed through the airing yard and several iron gates and was officially brought into the cell. During this process, Ye Feng was pleasantly surprised to find that there were quite a few souls here, but it was clearly not the right time to collect them.

Before entering the cell, he had to shout "report" again. After reporting, Ye Feng entered an iron gate, and inside was the cell. The layout was simple: a central aisle, with bunk beds on both sides. At the far end of the cell was a toilet and a sink, which looked relatively clean. On the bunk beds, several rows of people were sitting neatly, about twenty in total, all wearing the same yellow jackets. Later, Ye Feng learned that in the detention center, the toilet was called a "goldfish tank," and the bunk beds were called "dragon boards." In front of the dragon boards were two neatly stacked piles of blankets, which were spread out at night for sleeping and neatly folded during the day for sitting and listening to lectures.

As soon as Ye Feng entered, everyone stood up, and the eyes of those sitting on the dragon boards all stared at him, most of them with a fierce look. However, when they saw the shackles on Ye Feng's feet, the ferocity in their eyes somewhat diminished, clearly recognizing that Ye Feng was a murder suspect.

After the police left, a short, middle-aged man approached Ye Feng, whistled, and said with a smile, "Brother, what's your name?"

Ye Feng glanced at him and ignored him.

"Damn, you've got some attitude, huh? Fine, I won't waste words with you. Take off your clothes."

Ye Feng was puzzled. Take off his clothes? Did these people want to teach him the rules?

Although Ye Feng was not very familiar with the detention center, he had a general idea that it was similar to the prisons depicted in movies. Even if it wasn't as exaggerated and terrifying, there were definitely many gray rules, such as suspects forming gangs with their own leaders, and new arrivals might be beaten.

Sure enough, the short man continued, "Brother, it's your first time in here, right? You look like a serious offender. Did you kill someone? But no matter how capable you were outside, once you're in here, you have to follow the rules. Now I'll explain the rules to you. New arrivals like you are called 'new ghosts.' When you enter, you have to take a cold shower and then eat 'heart-piercing lotus.' Do you know what 'heart-piercing lotus' is? It means you have to open your chest and let each of us punch you. Got it?"

Ye Feng sneered at these so-called old ghosts who had entered for various reasons such as theft, robbery, rape, and fraud. "You just want to teach me the rules, right? Go ahead, if you can."

Ye Feng was not going to be polite to these people. Although he didn't want to cause trouble as soon as he entered the detention center, he would never willingly let these people beat him up.

Moreover, they would need the ability to deal with Ye Feng, who had successfully cultivated the Nine Star Decree to the first level of body strengthening.

The short man's expression immediately changed, and the ferocity in his eyes reappeared. Most of the people in the cell gathered around Ye Feng.

The short man took the lead, raising his hand and striking Ye Feng's chest with all his might. Ye Feng didn't dodge, letting the punch land on his chest. He wanted to use this opportunity to test his resistance to physical attacks.

The punch only produced a dull sound, and Ye Feng barely felt anything. However, the short man's reaction was different. His eyebrows furrowed, and his facial muscles twitched, clearly indicating that the punch not only failed to hurt Ye Feng but also left him shaken.

Ye Feng was quite satisfied with his resistance to physical attacks. He could imagine that if he could enter the second level of the Nine Star Tower in the future, the short man's reaction would be even more severe, possibly breaking his hand bones on Ye Feng's chest.

The other old ghosts, who were not satisfied, simultaneously attacked Ye Feng with punches and kicks. Ye Feng was no longer going to be "polite" to them. Although he did not know any martial arts techniques, he believed that his current strength and speed were enough to deal with them, unless they had someone as skilled as Liu Yong.

Fortunately for Ye Feng, none of these people were as skilled as Liu Yong; they were just more ruthless.

Ye Feng relied on his brute strength and speed to fight them, and the anger and grief that had been suppressed in his heart for many days were all released at this moment. Eventually, Ye Feng forgot his initial intention not to cause trouble, and he used all his strength in every punch and kick.

The outcome was predictable. Groans filled the air, and the so-called old ghosts who had been aggressive and arrogant in front of Ye Feng were all beaten to the ground. Many were bruised and swollen, some had their teeth knocked out, noses broken, and were bleeding profusely.

The most severe case was a man whose leg was kicked by Ye Feng and was lying on the ground, groaning and rolling in pain.

Those who had attacked Ye Feng were all lying on the ground, and even those who hadn't attacked him were beaten to the ground. Only a few were hiding in the corner of the toilet, their eyes full of fear and tension.

The commotion was so loud that the police quickly arrived. However, to Ye Feng's surprise, the police seemed to be used to it. They shouted a few times, helped the man with the broken leg out, and left without asking about the cause of the fight or reprimanding Ye Feng and the others. They just glanced at them and left.

About half an hour later, a police officer he had never seen before entered, holding a police baton and asked, "Who is Ye Feng?"

An old ghost pointed at Ye Feng, and the police officer walked up to him and asked again, "Are you Ye Feng?"

Ye Feng nodded, and the police officer, without a word, raised the baton and struck Ye Feng's back several times.

Ye Feng endured it. He could be tough with the suspects, but he couldn't do anything to the police. He knew that in his current situation, he had to endure certain things.

For example, if he hit the police officer, he would be charged with another crime, which was real and visible to many people.

After a few strikes, the police officer stopped and said fiercely, "Ye Feng, this is a serious warning. If it happens again, you will be confined for three days and deprived of food for one day. Got it?"

Ye Feng nodded, saying nothing.

The police officer glanced at Ye Feng again and then turned and left.

At this point, the cell had become very quiet. Ye Feng shook his shoulders and walked to his bed.
