**Chapter 2: Mr. Zombie**

First, Bai Yu went to the company and submitted his resignation to the boss. The boss found it hard to believe, thinking, "What's going on? I haven't even criticized him for being absent, and he's already resigning. What's he up to? Is he trying to take the initiative?" The boss's face darkened, and he coldly said, "Fine, go to the finance department to collect your salary and get out."

Bai Yu inwardly sneered but showed no expression on his face. He nodded and walked out, heading to the finance department to collect his salary for the month. As he left the finance department, he ran into Li Xiaofeng, who was walking towards him. Li Xiaofeng quickly pulled him aside and said, looking both angry and puzzled, "Bai Yu, what's going on? Why are you resigning? Did the boss scold you again, so you're upset and can't take it? You know our boss's temper. Jobs are so hard to find these days; you might not find such a good job again."

Bai Yu couldn't help but feel a bit moved, but he didn't want to reveal his secret about the lineage inheritance system. He chuckled and said, "No, I just want to go back to my hometown and start a small business. I want to take a chance while I'm young. My mother is always thinking about having a grandson. You know, nowadays, girls are very practical. It's better to have a solid economic foundation before looking for a wife."

Li Xiaofeng nodded in agreement, saying, "That's true. If that's the case, I won't stop you. If you need money, let me know, and I'll help you out."

Bai Yu smiled and said, "Thanks, if I really need it, I'll call you. If I succeed, I won't forget you."

At this, both of them couldn't help but smile at each other.

"Hey, not much ability, but quite a bit of ambition," a sharp voice came from behind them.

They turned around to see a heavily made-up woman, dressed flamboyantly like a seductive enchantress. Although her appearance was only average, her flirtatious manner made men hesitant to look directly at her. Li Xiaofeng's eyes flashed with disgust, but before he could speak, Bai Yu sneered and said, "Hmph, isn't that Miss Li? I wonder why you're not 'working' in the boss's office and are here to talk to us two brothers." He emphasized the word "working," making it clear that he was insinuating something. Since he had already resigned, he didn't fear offending the bald boss.

Wang Xiaoli's face changed. She hadn't expected Bai Yu, whom she had always bullied, to speak to her like this. She was so angry that she glared at him and shouted, "You two bastards, are you tired of living?"

Bai Yu's face darkened, and he coldly laughed, "Wang Xiaoli, don't act like a madwoman. I'm the one who's talking to you, not Xiaofeng. If you have any tricks, come at me." Bai Yu took the blame to protect Li Xiaofeng, who still needed to work there. If this crazy woman whispered in the bald boss's ear, it could cause trouble for Li Xiaofeng.

People around them gathered, and Wang Xiaoli, seeing more and more colleagues, turned red with anger. She glared at Bai Yu and said through gritted teeth, "We'll see about this." Then she quickly walked away, leaving Bai Yu feeling particularly satisfied, as the two years of suppression finally felt like it had been released.

At this moment, Li Xiaofeng came up from behind and whispered in his ear, "Be careful. I heard that Wang Xiaoli has some shady connections with some people. She might come after you."

Bai Yu smiled confidently and said, "Don't worry, I can handle it. If they come, they'll pay a price."

However, Li Xiaofeng didn't believe him, his eyes full of worry. Bai Yu didn't say more, bid farewell to Li Xiaofeng, and returned to his rented apartment.

The first thing he did after entering was to turn on his computer and search for zombie and ghost movies. After two days of seclusion, he finally dragged his tired body to sleep. When he woke up, it had been another day and night. He adjusted his body and mentally recited the command to enter. The next moment, his figure appeared in the palace of the system space.

"System, select a world." As soon as he entered the system space, Bai Yu immediately asked the system to select a world.

"Understood. Comparing the host's strength, selecting a scene world... World selection complete. Hengsha World — Mr. Zombie."

"Mr. Zombie"? Bai Yu was very familiar with this movie, having watched it many times from a young age. This movie sparked a trend in zombie films and can be considered a classic. The plot revolves around a wealthy man, Ren Fa, whose father obtained a feng shui treasure site through coercion and deceit. According to a feng shui master, his father's body should be exhumed and reburied after twenty years to benefit his descendants. The Taoist priest, Uncle Nine, is invited to help. When the coffin is opened, the body is not decayed. Uncle Nine becomes suspicious and orders his disciples, Wen Cai and Qiu Sheng, to guard it carefully. At night, Ren Fa is killed by a zombie, and Wen Cai is infected with zombie poison while protecting his love, almost turning into a zombie himself. Qiu Sheng is seduced by a female ghost, but Uncle Nine, seeing that the ghost is harmless and has saved Qiu Sheng from the zombie, lets her go. When the zombie attacks Uncle Nine's home to bite his granddaughter, Uncle Nine and Qiu Sheng try to subdue it, but the zombie is too strong. Just as Uncle Nine is about to be defeated, his disciple, a corpse-moving Taoist, arrives, and together they burn the zombie.

The most threatening thing to Bai Yu in this world is probably the zombie. As for the female ghost, she poses little threat. First, he needed to exchange some useful items. With 100 exchange points, the most useful thing he could get was the basic Taoist techniques of Mount Mao. Without much thought, he immediately selected the basic Taoist techniques of Mount Mao.

The words "basic Taoist techniques of Mount Mao" suddenly turned into a golden light and shot into Bai Yu's forehead, penetrating his brain. Bai Yu felt a surge of information flood his brain, causing intense pain.

After a long while, his spirit gradually recovered, and he opened his eyes to find himself in a small alley. The exit of the alley was not far from him, and he could clearly see the pedestrians on the road. Some were dressed in late Qing Dynasty clothing, others in Western suits, and the men had short hair. Some of the buildings were European-style. Bai Yu knew he had arrived in the world of "Mr. Zombie."

However, he had one thing that was very concerning: he had no money! The basic Taoist techniques of Mount Mao were clearly imprinted in his mind, but to use them, he needed special items like cinnabar and talismans, which cost money. Although some techniques could be used without these items, the main issue was that his magical power was insufficient. After exchanging the basic Taoist techniques, he had a small amount of magical power in his body, enough to barely activate magical tools, but not enough to achieve significant results.

He felt his pockets and found a few banknotes, a lighter, a pack of soft Zhonghua cigarettes, and a mobile phone. After some thought, a light bulb went off in his head, and he smiled, saying to himself, "I need to make full use of the resources I have." However, he felt a bit sad, as the phone had cost him several hundred yuan.

He asked a few people on the street and finally found a pawnshop. He walked in confidently, and the first thing he saw was a high counter. At his height of 1.75 meters, only his eyes were visible. He called out loudly, "Is anyone there? I have business."

After a while, an impatient voice replied, "What are you shouting for? I'm coming." A small, thin old man with a sullen face walked out, and a middle-aged woman peeked from behind him.

Bai Yu was taken aback but then laughed inwardly, thinking he had come at the wrong time and interrupted something. He cleared his throat and said, "Boss, take a look at this." He showed the phone to the boss. The boss examined it for a moment and sneered, "A small mirror, one copper coin."

Bai Yu chuckled and said, "Boss, don't underestimate it. It's not just any mirror." The boss didn't let him finish and walked away, saying, "A small mirror for one copper coin is already a good deal. It's black, poorly made, and the mirror is tiny. Don't even think about bargaining."

Bai Yu was left speechless, not knowing what to say. He left the pawnshop and walked down the street, sighing as he looked at the passersby, thinking, "What should I do next?" He walked to a secluded corner, habitually took out a cigarette, and lit it.

"Hey, sir." Suddenly, a hand tapped his shoulder, and a male voice spoke.

Bai Yu, lost in thought, was startled and then felt angry. Was he being robbed? If so, it might be a good thing. His physical condition had been enhanced by the magical power, and he had learned some martial arts, so he could probably fend off a small robber. He slowly turned around and looked at the man.

In front of him was a man in a long robe, smiling politely. Bai Yu wasn't fooled by his appearance and raised an eyebrow, saying, "What do you want?" His tone was very unfriendly.

The man was taken aback but quickly smiled and said, "Sir, I have a request. Are you willing to sell the thing in your hand that can produce fire?" His tone was very sincere, making Bai Yu carefully examine him. He looked at the lighter in his hand and felt a bit bitter. It seemed that in this era, lighters were more accepted than phones. But did they have lighters in this era?

Bai Yu asked, puzzled, "Have you never seen anything like this before?" He realized that lighters were invented in the 1920s, and although he didn't know the exact time period of "Mr. Zombie," it was likely before that.
