Chapter 20: New Monsters

Chu Yunsheng sat on the ground, staring dumbly at the pig brain that had done such a great deed. He wondered if he should visit the nearby zoo to get more animal heads. Although he had stored a lot of pork, he only had three pig brains, and he hadn't expected this thing to be so useful.

Checking his injuries, his right hand was already numb from being pulled, and every movement caused excruciating pain. His abdomen, which had been clamped by the bugs, was the most severely injured, making even breathing painful. However, fortunately, none of his body parts were missing, and these injuries would eventually heal with the flow of primordial energy.

The two units of primordial energy were more than enough to deal with the three dying red-armored bugs.

After collecting the bodies of the three bugs and clearing the battlefield, Chu Yunsheng didn't dare to rush into the hospital. Dragging his numb right hand, he found a secluded corner.

During this period, he had saved two full-flame-patterned primordial energy talismans. Before setting out, he had only two units of primordial energy left after fighting with Baldy and the others. To act immediately, he replenished six units of primordial energy, using up three flame patterns from one of the talismans. Now, he had only one and a half talismans left, totaling nine flame patterns, which could continuously replenish eighteen units of primordial energy.

Now, he could only use three more flame patterns to fully replenish his primordial energy.

Watching the primordial energy talisman shatter in the air, Chu Yunsheng took out a cigarette and thought, "This operation killed three red-armored bugs and consumed six units of primordial energy. In terms of primordial energy, the income and expenditure are about the same. However, I now have three sets of bug carapaces and corrosive saliva, so it's still a good deal."

Chu Yunsheng didn't dare to rest for too long; the longer the night, the more things could go wrong. After finishing one cigarette, he immediately set out again!

The community hospital had an outpatient building and a small inpatient department. The outer walls were made of red bricks, and the courtyard was littered with bodies, both doctors and patients, all with empty skulls, the work of the red-armored bugs.

The automatic glass doors of the outpatient building were already broken, with glass shards scattered on the ground, making a crunching sound underfoot.

The reception desk was covered in a thick layer of blood, and the hall was filled with chaotic medical records and newspapers with footprints. The headlines were striking: "2012: The Sun Disappears!" or even more terrifying: "Monsters Attack Humans! Military Intervenes!"

A piece of intestine hung from the registration window, frozen into a block of blood ice. Banknotes fluttered in the light breeze, and inside, overturned desks, files, and computers suggested a severe riot had occurred.

Behind the security door, a cabinet was tightly wedged, but a large hole had been broken through it. A rusted metal sheet hung with a protruding eyeball, staring menacingly at the dark passage behind the hall.

The promotional frame for famous doctors was half-broken, with long strands of blood-stained hair stuck to the glass.

Turning right, he reached the area where patients collected their medication. The glass with the green "Medication" sign was about to fall, and the waiting chairs and ceiling fans were scattered around, broken into pieces.

Chu Yunsheng didn't know what had happened here, but it was very quiet, so quiet that he could almost only hear his own footsteps!

Every step echoed through the empty corridor, as if leading to hell, and a wave of bloodiness hit him.

Chu Yunsheng felt uneasy, sensing something strange, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was!

However, at this moment, he couldn't afford to be too cautious. The best strategy was to quickly collect the medication and leave.

The glass at the medication window was broken, and he could crawl through by carefully moving the shards. Inside, the medicine cabinets were leaning against the wall like dominoes, with pills scattered all over the room.

Chu Yunsheng used the object storage talisman to collect all the medication, not having time to sort out the clutter or identify the types of medication.

The medication at the collection window wasn't much. The real stock should be in the pharmacy, which, according to the map drawn by the female teacher, required passing through the dark, long passage!

To go or not to go?

Chu Yunsheng felt an inexplicable fear about the depths of the passage. Hospitals were already eerie and secluded, and with the current infestation of bugs, it was even more nerve-wracking!

He picked up a bill validator from the cash register and threw it far into the passage, then quickly aimed his crossbow.

Clang... Clang... The bill validator rolled a long way down the passage.

Nothing happened; no bugs rushed out, and no ghosts appeared.

Chu Yunsheng relaxed, thinking he had been too tense. If there were bugs, they would have come out by now!

He activated the active infrared source, and the dark passage immediately appeared green in the night vision device, looking even more eerie and terrifying.

Chu Yunsheng gripped his crossbow and carefully explored the depths, hugging the wall. Despite his cautious steps, the sound of his shoes was still very clear, echoing through the long passage!

Chu Yunsheng's palms were sweating with tension, but for the medication, he had to take the risk. Even if not for the children, he would need these life-saving drugs in the future.

He didn't dare to look into the rooms on either side of the passage, focusing on quickly passing through and turning right to the end, where the pharmacy was on the upper floor!

Passing another room on the left, a white figure flashed by!

Chu Yunsheng immediately pressed himself against the left wall, his heart pounding. He hesitated about whether to look again when a soft, cold, and intermittent singing came from the room.

"Who's there!" Chu Yunsheng called out, the cold singing making him shudder.

No one answered, but the singing continued clearly from the room.

Chu Yunsheng steeled himself, thinking, "I don't believe in ghosts! I've killed dozens of red-armored bugs, so why should I fear this?"

He was about to kick the door open, but it creaked open on its own!

He immediately aimed his arrow, and a woman appeared before him, completely naked. Her disheveled hair couldn't hide her beautiful face, and her well-proportioned body glowed with a pale light. Her hollow eyes stared at Chu Yunsheng, and her small mouth opened and closed, singing a cold, eerie song.

"Who are you?" Chu Yunsheng wasn't scared; he was very clear-headed. The long time in the apocalypse had made his nerves very strong.

This woman was very strange, everything was illogical. In such cold weather, she was completely naked, and her skin was pale like a ghost!

She didn't answer but gave him a strange smile and walked toward him step by step, her breasts bouncing in the pale light.

Chu Yunsheng felt the hexagram talisman vibrate suddenly, not knowing what it was defending against. He was startled and shouted, "Stop! Or I'll shoot!"

She continued to advance, light and graceful, as if she hadn't heard him or was being controlled by something.

Chu Yunsheng wouldn't let anyone threaten him easily, and he wouldn't be distracted by a naked woman. He pulled the trigger without hesitation!

At such close range, the powerful ice arrow pierced her chest, dragging her back and pinning her to the wall!

"Ahh...!" The naked woman only managed a piercing scream.

Just as she was about to be frozen, Chu Yunsheng saw her give him a faint smile, different from before. Her hollow eyes flashed with a hint of relief.

"Grr... Ugh...!!!" Another low, strange sound came from the inpatient department, sounding angry, as if something precious had been taken away!

What the hell is that!

Chu Yunsheng was greatly alarmed, but he didn't have time to think. He had to quickly get the medication and leave as far as possible! He absolutely wouldn't go near the inpatient department!

He didn't hesitate, running quickly, turning the corner and going upstairs. Following the map from the female teacher, he soon found the pharmacy. The locked door was no obstacle for Chu Yunsheng, who had many weapons.

The pharmacy was clean, with no signs of chaos. Chu Yunsheng quickly collected the medication, not even sparing the refrigeration equipment.

Mission accomplished, he immediately retreated. As soon as he returned to the passage, he felt something was watching him.

To enter the hall, turn right to go upstairs for the medication, and turn left to go to the inpatient department.

The feeling of being watched came from the left passage. Chu Yunsheng gripped his crossbow, thinking that the most terrifying things in the world were bugs!

But when he saw a long, soft, pipe-like thing with an eye-like flesh ball at the end, similar to a tentacle, quickly "swimming" toward him from the end of the passage, he suddenly realized that maybe there were more than just bugs in this world!
