Chapter 31: Exchange

Chu Yunsheng looked at the group of people with a cold expression. He was now considering whether to rob or use some other method to get the woman's pendant.

Among them, an officer said urgently, "Professor Sun, the commander has personally instructed me that the data and materials you and Miss Zhao have are the hope of the country, the hope for humanity to defeat the bugs in the future. You cannot die. When the bugs come up, my comrades and I will hold them off, and you must leave as soon as possible. This is the rooftop, and the chance of the bugs coming back down to chase you is very low!"

This officer was willing to sacrifice his life to hold off the bugs in exchange for the safety of his targets.

Therefore, they must have run to this rooftop because they saw the fire from the burning bedding, guessing that someone was up there, and trying to use the survivors on the rooftop to increase their chances of success!

Chu Yunsheng felt a chill in his heart. Unfortunately, their plans were off the mark; he wasn't some pushover!

The officer quickly deployed the combat positions and then walked briskly to Chu Yunsheng, saying seriously, "Are you a self-awakened individual?"

Chu Yunsheng looked at him coldly and ignored him. Ever since he heard their conversation, he had no good feelings toward these people.

Seeing that Chu Yunsheng didn't answer, the officer frowned and glanced at Yu Xiaohai's strange struggle on the ground. However, he still introduced himself seriously, "I am Captain Gu Liming!"

Gu Liming was taken aback, probably not expecting such a strong reaction. He was about to say something when he heard the bugs' cries below, which were getting closer. His face tightened, and he ultimately didn't say anything more, quickly returning to his position.

Chu Yunsheng activated the active infrared source. The bugs were still downstairs, but they would eventually come up. With his current strength, dealing with three bugs posed little risk.

He lifted his mask and lit a cigarette, deciding to negotiate with these people. The stakes were the three bugs and the pendant! He was going to kill the bugs anyway, and if he could get the pendant in exchange, it would be even better.

Chu Yunsheng looked at the woman's chest with a somewhat evil and greedy expression and raised his voice, "I have a proposal. I wonder if you are interested?"

Gu Liming and his group were already highly tense. Seeing him leisurely smoking, they were all somewhat surprised. Especially Miss Zhao, who immediately noticed Chu Yunsheng staring at her chest and looked angry.

Miss Zhao's eyes flickered, and she almost bit her lip. Finally, she took a deep breath and said, "Father, Mr. Sun, stop trying to stop me. We all know we can't escape. The bugs won't let us go. I don't want anything to happen to you and Mr. Sun. You are the people I care about the most!"

"But there must be other ways!" Miss Zhao's father said in a trembling voice.

"Yes, Xiao Ling, let's think of other ways!" Professor Sun also said.

"It's too late, Father. Let's take a chance!" Miss Zhao said firmly and coldly, as if she didn't care about anything anymore.

Chu Yunsheng flicked the cigarette butt and leaned on his sword, saying, "Okay, time's up. The bugs are about to come up. Have you decided?"

Miss Zhao looked at Chu Yunsheng with disdain and said coldly, "Why should we believe you can kill the three bugs?"

Chu Yunsheng was irritated by her look of disgust. A pendant, in exchange for so many lives, is a great deal. Why be so upset, as if he was going to rape her? Chu Yunsheng said impatiently, "Believe it or not, you have ten seconds. Do we have a deal?"

At this point, the sound of bugs crashing against the floor below could be clearly heard. They were about to come up!

Miss Zhao gritted her teeth and said, "Fine! I agree to your proposal!"

At that moment, a bug's head was already peeking out. Chu Yunsheng lowered his mask, leaped up, and shouted, "Deal!"

With that, he plunged his entire body into the stairwell, facing the bug's head, and slashed down fiercely!

The red-armored bug had not expected a sudden attack and had almost no defense or resistance, being split open by Chu Yunsheng's sword.

There were still two bugs below. Chu Yunsheng, sword in hand, walked to the corner of the hallway. The two bugs roared and pounced.

The two bugs, one in front and one behind, could not attack Chu Yunsheng simultaneously in the narrow hallway. Chu Yunsheng repeatedly used his sword to slash at the first bug's head. The bug's pincers and legs were severed, and it spat out its last corrosive fluid before being killed by Chu Yunsheng's sword.

The last bug became smarter, using its legs to slash and pin Chu Yunsheng against the wall, then trying to grab his helmet with its pincers.

Fortunately, with the protection of the battle armor, these attacks, though hindering his movement, did little damage, only causing some shaking and pulling.

Chu Yunsheng swung his sword with a reverse grip, using the rebound force from his elbow and the power of his qi. The Qianbi Sword pierced the red-armored bug's abdominal armor with a "thud" and then slashed upward, causing green fluid and organs to spill out, emitting a pungent odor.

The bug, not yet dead, struggled wildly. Chu Yunsheng delivered a final blow to its head, finally ending its life.

Successfully dealing with the three bugs, Chu Yunsheng only consumed three units of qi and felt some discomfort from the shaking, but there were no major losses. It was a relatively successful battle.

Chu Yunsheng collected the three red-armored bug corpses and quickly returned to the rooftop, thinking that he couldn't let these people escape, or he would be at a great loss!

When he climbed back to the rooftop, he saw that the people were still there, though somewhat stunned. He felt much more relieved.

Chu Yunsheng already considered the pendant as his treasure.

These people also had night vision devices, and they seemed to be more advanced than Chu Yunsheng's. Professor Sun was holding one, and they had likely seen the battle with the bugs.

However, he didn't care. As long as his strength was greater than theirs, it didn't matter.

He didn't realize how much of an impact he had on these people. In less than twenty minutes, he had incredibly killed three bugs and was now standing before them, alive and well, which seemed to be beyond their comprehension.

Seeing that they were still in shock, Chu Yunsheng, ignoring the terrifying corrosive fluid and bug innards on his body, quickly walked to Miss Zhao and reminded her, "I've taken care of the bugs. It's time to fulfill your promise!"
