Chapter 39

With all attributes reduced by 40%, and most importantly, the troublesome poison attribute temporarily eliminated, for Zhuge Xiang and the others, this was the only chance to defeat the two-star demon moth.

The intense reaction between the detoxifying pill and the toxins in the demon moth's body caused it immense pain, making it difficult to even maintain flight. If they didn't act now, when would they?

Using the Phantom Step, Hua Nongying approached like a ghost. This wasn't her first time battling a two-star demon beast, so she knew exactly what to do. Her short knife flicked out two flower-like slashes, aiming directly for the demon moth's compound eyes.

The demon moth was currently in great pain, but this was only temporary. As long as they destroyed its eyes, even if it recovered, they could still protect themselves.

The mechanical puppet had already been destroyed. Lu Yuling's hand trembled, and countless fine but strong silk threads shot toward the demon moth. No matter what, even if all the ice silk threads were destroyed, as long as they could affect its movements, it would be worth it.

As the Clear Wave Palm unfolded, with the cultivation of the fourth layer of the Nourishing Qi Realm, the countless silk threads wrapped around the demon moth's pink wings. A single chopstick is easy to break, but a handful of chopsticks is not so easy to break. The same principle applied here. The dense silk threads, even for a two-star demon beast, with all attributes reduced by 40%, could not be destroyed in a short time. However, the sound of the silk threads breaking was continuous, and it seemed that in just a few breaths, the ice silk threads would be completely snapped.

The demon moth instinctively tried to use its pink wings to block the short knife aimed at its eyes, but the pink wings were already entangled by the ice silk. A two-star demon beast with awakened intelligence was not so easy to deal with. Since the pink wings were entangled, it simply raised its head and spat out silk threads, sweeping toward Hua Nongying.

Despite the silk threads no longer being poisonous, Hua Nongying still dared not be entangled by them. Her face changed, and she quickly dodged the silk threads spewed from the demon moth's mouth.

At the same time, Ji Wuxue's fierce sword light and Ling Wufeng's brilliant flying knives also arrived, all aiming for the demon moth's eyes. Compared to the demon bear, the demon moth was more difficult to deal with, as it could spray silk threads from its mouth to block attacks.

"This guy, although just a two-star demon beast, is much more threatening than the demon bear..." Everyone felt the same way when facing the demon moth.

With its strong physical defense, flight ability, poison attribute, intelligence, and the ability to spray silk threads from its mouth for long-range attacks, which also concealed the weakness of its mouth, the demon moth was a formidable opponent. Ling Wufeng and the others believed that even a two-star mid-grade demon bear would be easier to face than a two-star low-grade demon moth.

Whoosh...

A fierce arrow flashed. Zhuge Xiang, relying on the Breath Concealment Jade obtained from Lei Potian, had unexpectedly thrown the detoxifying pill into the demon moth's mouth. Now, using the Breath Concealment Jade again, he approached the demon moth and fired another sharp arrow from the Hundred-Refined Bow.

The Breath Concealment Jade allowed Zhuge Xiang to sneak within five meters of the demon moth without being detected. At five meters, with a range of 100 meters, how fast would the arrow travel? Even Lu Yuling, with her clear mind, could only see the arrow flash by.

With an increase of about 30 points in attack, the arrow added 3 points in attack, ignored 30 points in defense, and with the demon moth's attributes reduced by 40%, a piercing scream echoed as Zhuge Xiang's arrow pierced one of the demon moth's compound eyes. The crimson qi energy, with its fierce aura, completely destroyed the demon moth's eye.

"Success, there's still one eye left," Hua Nongying and the others were overjoyed at Zhuge Xiang's critical hit.

However, before Zhuge Xiang and the others could further expand their victory, the ice silk threads entangling the demon moth finally snapped. The demon moth, enduring the intense pain from the toxins and the detoxifying pill, wobbled and flew away.

Seeing the demon moth fly away, everyone became alert. Injured, the demon beast's ferocity would only increase, and it was clear that the demon moth was going to fight to the death.

However, just as everyone was on guard for the demon moth's impending storm of attacks, it decisively turned and flew toward the poison pool, fleeing...

A two-star demon beast, facing several human cultivators equivalent to one-star low-grade demon beasts, not only did not become more ferocious when injured but fled? This situation left Hua Nongying and the others stunned and speechless. If the demon moth fled, they should be safe, right?

However, at this point in the battle, would Zhuge Xiang let the demon moth escape? This was the only chance to kill it, representing a huge amount of experience and guaranteed drops of good items.

Moreover, since the demon moth, with awakened intelligence, knew how to flee, would it return to attack once the detoxifying pill's effect wore off? At that time, with its body again enveloped in poison and all attributes restored, it would be impossible to kill it.

Seeing the demon moth fly away, Zhuge Xiang lunged forward, leaping high and landing on its back. With the Bloodlust Skill and the Star Chaser Boots, Zhuge Xiang's speed was still very fast.

Furious Step!!!

Standing on the demon moth's back, Zhuge Xiang immediately activated the Furious Step skill. The Furious Step skill gathers qi energy at the soles of the feet and releases it in a burst, achieving instant super-high-speed movement. The qi energy released in this instant could even crack the stone floor, showing its formidable power. Standing on the demon moth's back, Zhuge Xiang used the Furious Step skill as an attack.

The detoxifying pill's effect already made it difficult for the demon moth to fly. A single Furious Step, with the instant burst of qi energy, caused it to cry out in pain and fall to the ground.

Seeing Zhuge Xiang pursue, Lu Yuling and the others reacted quickly, also chasing after. Compared to letting the demon beast escape, killing it would ensure their safety.

A single Furious Step allowed Zhuge Xiang to instantly appear at the top of the cave chamber, head down and feet up. Zhuge Xiang tightly gripped the Blood-Refined Knife, infusing it with qi energy, holding back the release...

The speed of the Furious Step made Zhuge Xiang's feet bend as they pressed against the top of the chamber. Enduring the pain in his feet, he glared fiercely and fell like a cannonball.

Not enough, not enough...

The whistling wind rushed past his ears as Zhuge Xiang rapidly descended, his eyes fixed on the demon moth entangled by Lu Yuling and the others. The effect of the Breath Concealment Jade only made the demon moth aware of Zhuge Xiang when he was within five meters. The qi energy infused into the Blood-Refined Knife and the Blood Lightning Slash's charge were not yet complete.

With the acceleration of gravity and a sudden jump, Zhuge Xiang's speed from the high fall was very fast. Surrounded by a crimson qi energy, his face grim, when he reached the demon moth's head, the Blood Lightning Slash's charge was finally complete.

The effect of the Breath Concealment Jade made the demon moth realize Zhuge Xiang was above it too late. The five-meter distance at such high speed was very short, and with the distracting attacks from Lu Yuling and the others, the demon moth had no time to dodge when it noticed Zhuge Xiang approaching.

A crimson knife light, accompanied by a fierce wind and thunder, with both hands gripping the Blood-Refined Knife, Zhuge Xiang stepped on the demon moth's head, and the entire knife handle was inserted into its head, leaving only the handle exposed...

With a kick, Zhuge Xiang, gripping the Blood-Refined Knife with both hands, performed a backflip in the air and landed on the ground. As the Blood-Refined Knife was pulled out, a trail of emerald green liquid followed. The demon moth's piercing scream was very brief, and its body, lying by the poison pool, twitched a few times before becoming still...

The Bloodlust Skill was deactivated, and a wave of weakness washed over him. Kneeling on one knee, Zhuge Xiang's chest heaved like a bellows, gasping for breath. Killing this demon moth was much more exhausting than the demon bear. Two-star demon beasts were indeed not easy to kill, whether it was the demon bear or the demon moth.

Especially this demon moth. If Zhuge Xiang hadn't had a sudden inspiration to throw the detoxifying pill into its mouth, or if he hadn't accidentally obtained the detoxifying pill last time, or if he hadn't found the Breath Concealment Jade on Lei Potian's body, allowing him to unexpectedly throw the detoxifying pill, they would not have survived this encounter. Although they had killed the demon moth, this success was completely unreplicable.

However, despite the danger and the luck, Zhuge Xiang and the others finally succeeded in killing this incredibly powerful demon moth. Reflecting on the demon moth's strength was not Zhuge Xiang's style; he only knew that he had succeeded, and that was enough.

"Ding, over-level kill of a two-star low-grade elite demon moth, gained 1600 experience, obtained 'Piercing Arrow,' obtained 'Wolf Tooth Arrow' manufacturing formula, obtained 'Repair Oil.'"

With the demon moth killed, the system's mechanical voice sounded as expected. An elite monster? Hearing the system's prompt, Zhuge Xiang was slightly stunned. It made sense; although they were both two-star low-grade, the demon moth was several times stronger than the demon bear. This must be what they called an elite monster, with experience nearly double that of the demon bear.

Moreover, with 1600 points of experience, it dropped three items at once. It seemed to be a bow and arrow skill book, an arrow manufacturing formula, and finally, what was the repair oil? Curious, Zhuge Xiang took it out from his inventory.

"Repair Oil (Consumable): Can restore 30 points of durability to any equipment."

"Phew, finally killed this two-star demon beast. Now we can see what the cave's owner left behind," Hua Nongying said with a look of anticipation, drawing everyone's attention. With the two-star demon beast killed, it was time to reap the rewards.
