"Such a big snake... too big..." Zhao Qiang whispered, his face a mix of fear and excitement.

"Be more specific!" Team Leader Chen interrupted.

Zhao Qiang took a deep breath and calmed down. "Its body is as thick as my waist, its belly is huge, and it's lying motionless on the hillside, seemingly unable to move."

"Oh, right!" Zhao Qiang seemed to remember something. "It looks like a water snake!"

Everyone's faces changed.

"Are you sure you didn't see wrong?" Team Leader Chen asked doubtfully.

"Of course not, I couldn't possibly mistake this kind of snake. I've even caught a few before," Zhao Qiang said in a suppressed voice.

Luo Yuan also knew about water snakes. When he was a child, he often saw them in the countryside with his parents. They were usually only two or three meters long and as thick as an arm. A snake this thick was simply unbelievable.

Luo Yuan felt a bit relieved. At least facing a non-venomous snake was less stressful than facing a highly venomous one.

"We only have one chance. I remember that a well-fed snake has no desire to attack. As long as we don't provoke it, we can walk right in front of it. When the time comes, we'll shoot it in the head with our guns and then run away immediately. Got it?" Team Leader Chen said solemnly.

"Got it!"

"Now, everyone, check your guns. Zhao Qiang, give Wang Fei's gun to Luo Yuan. Can you use it? The safety is off, just pull the trigger!" Team Leader Chen thought for a moment and said. Having one more person shoot would be safer. As for Wang Fei, he would stay there for now. Bringing him back now would only alert the giant snake prematurely.

Luo Yuan took the handgun, feeling its weight. This was his first time holding a gun. Perhaps due to the oppressive environment, he didn't feel as excited as he imagined. He checked the gun as others did and found that Wang Fei hadn't fired it, so the magazine was still full!

"Let's go then!" Team Leader Chen hesitated for a moment and then said firmly.

Luo Yuan's heart raced, his feet felt as if they were floating, and he followed the others, crouching as they walked toward the hillside. He wasn't at the back; Huang Jiahuai was behind him, tightly holding onto his shirt, her hand trembling, causing Luo Yuan's body to tremble as well.

He realized he wasn't as brave as he thought. When fear reached a certain level, cowardice took over. If it were any other creature, he might have performed better, but ever since a prank in elementary school where a water snake was put down his neck, he had a deep-seated fear of these cold, chilling creatures.

A faint, fishy smell wafted from the hillside, similar to the smell of rotting fish, making everyone feel nauseous.

The group passed Wang Fei, and their pace suddenly slowed.

"From now on, no talking. Follow my signals!" Team Leader Chen whispered. He was the first to cross the hillside, waving his hand. Zhao Qiang followed without hesitation.

Luo Yuan took a deep breath and followed closely behind. As soon as he reached the hillside, his eyes immediately focused on the giant snake lying ahead.

Even though he had mentally prepared himself, the sight still made his spine tingle!

The snake was over ten meters long, its massive body lying still, its scales shiny and metallic. Luo Yuan doubted whether the scales could stop bullets.

The scales shimmered with a rainbow-like glow under the sunlight. Its belly was swollen, making its body look like a giant olive. The sight of such a creature was enough to make anyone's hair stand on end, even from a distance.

The surroundings were very quiet, with only the heavy breathing of the group breaking the silence.

In the peaceful modern society, no one could remain calm upon seeing such a creature! Modern education had made people smarter but physically weaker. There were more smart people, but fewer brave ones. Being able to refrain from screaming was already a sign of good composure.

Team Leader Chen looked at the team members, gave a signal to follow, and crouched to approach the snake's head!

They circled around the snake's body and slowly approached its head, stopping about three to four meters away.

The giant snake's amber eyes were cold and motionless, its pupils slightly dilated, as if it were sleeping. Luo Yuan noticed a black pattern on its head that formed a "Wang" character, confirming its identity as a water snake.

It exuded a terrifying aura that made everyone shiver.

Luo Yuan's heart was pounding, he switched the gun to his right hand, held a knife in his left, and took deep breaths, his face pale with fear.

Huang Jiahuai behind him was even worse, her body went limp, and she clung tightly to his arm, her soft body pressing heavily against him. Luo Yuan had no time to feel the softness and elasticity of her chest; instead, his face turned pale with fear.

Once the shooting started, the snake would go into a frenzy, and he might be killed because of this woman!

At that moment, Team Leader Chen gave the signal to attack, raising his gun to aim at the snake's eyes!

Luo Yuan tried to free himself, but the woman clung even tighter, and he saw a flash of anxiety in her eyes. He couldn't move much, so he raised his gun and aimed at the snake's head.

Time seemed to stand still, each second unbearable. Sweat dripped from their foreheads, landing on the ground and breaking into sparkling droplets.

"Fire!"

Almost simultaneously, three guns fired, sending hot bullets into the snake. Even Luo Yuan, who had never used a gun before, hit the snake's body.

Blood blossomed from the snake's head, and a deep hole appeared in its amber eyes. The sleeping giant snake never expected such a sudden disaster.

The intense pain woke it up, and its massive head suddenly rose, moving as fast as lightning, creating a strong wind around it.

But this movement lasted less than a second before its head fell heavily to the ground. Its massive body writhed violently, and its mouth opened wide, emitting a dying scream!

The bullets had not only destroyed its eyes but also penetrated its brain. However, snakes are naturally resilient and didn't die easily.

It went on a rampage, its tail moving at supersonic speed, breaking trees and sending debris and sand flying like bullets, hitting the group and leaving red marks on their skin.

Luo Yuan dragged Huang Jiahuai, who clung to him, and ran toward a place with more trees. He vaguely heard a scream, but he didn't know who it was.

He cursed inwardly. If not for Huang Jiahuai, he would have been safe by now. He was so angry that he wanted to kill her.

The sound of gunfire and the howling wind made him imagine the possibility of sudden death.

Because he had to drag Huang Jiahuai, he quickly ran out of energy after just a few dozen meters. His lungs burned, and he couldn't run anymore. Seeing a large tree ahead, he used his last bit of strength to run behind it, leaning heavily against it, his legs trembling.

Huang Jiahuai, not satisfied, clung even tighter to his waist, her body trembling.

Luo Yuan had no strength left and could only let her hold him.

He closed his eyes, feeling the flow of life within him. Perhaps only in the face of death could one truly appreciate the beauty of life!

As time passed, the commotion outside gradually subsided.

Luo Yuan pushed Huang Jiahuai away, intending to go outside and check.

"No, my legs are weak!" Huang Jiahuai buried her head in Luo Yuan's chest and clung tighter.

"You stay here, I'll go check. If the snake is dead, we can go out."

"Okay!" Huang Jiahuai let go of Luo Yuan, her body swaying and nearly falling.

Luo Yuan quickly reached out to support her, but his strength hadn't fully returned, and he was pulled to the ground.

They faced each other, so close that their breaths touched each other's faces, their hearts pounding. Luo Yuan instinctively wanted to stand up, but thinking of how she almost got him killed, he felt a surge of anger.

Although he was still alive, he couldn't let her off easily. He looked at her lips and kissed her vengefully.

But her reaction was completely unexpected.

Huang Jiahuai struggled slightly at first but then responded passionately, even more impulsively than he was. It was like a spark igniting dry wood, and the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

Their movements became more intense, and they tore at each other's clothes like mad. Luo Yuan quickly pushed her police uniform to her chest, grabbing one of her breasts and putting it in his mouth.

Huang Jiahuai let out a satisfied moan, her hands tearing at his hair, her breathing becoming rapid!
