Chapter 57

In this small building, the bed was very large, spacious enough for two people to lie down with room to spare. At this moment, the woman was kneeling on the bed, her legs slightly apart, her buttocks raised high, facing the window. From Su Peng's angle, he could not see her head or upper body, but he was still certain she was a woman, as her body was completely naked, revealing her pale thighs and buttocks, with her sensitive area fully exposed.
"Miss?" After his initial shock, Su Peng instinctively closed his eyes and called out.
However, the woman on the bed showed no reaction. Su Peng also realized something was wrong. Why would a woman be lying on his bed in such a shameful position, completely naked?
Su Peng took two deep breaths, decided not to avoid suspicion, and opened his eyes.
He saw that the woman remained motionless, showing no response.
Su Peng frowned and slowly walked over, gradually approaching the woman. Her waist, back, arms, and head slowly came into view. The woman was indeed completely naked!
However, Su Peng had no lewd thoughts; instead, his heart grew heavy and tense. This woman had likely met with a tragic fate.
When Su Peng finally approached the woman's side, he saw that although she was a beautiful woman, her eyes were bulging, the whites more prominent than the irises, her face frozen in terror, and there were purple handprints on her neck, indicating that she had been strangled to death.
Su Peng felt even colder inside. He touched the woman with a finger and found her muscles already stiff, but there were no signs of livor mortis on the body. Although it was cold, there was still some warmth, and he could see some faint red blood spots under the skin. There was a faint smell of sex, suggesting she had engaged in sexual activity before her death. Su Peng, not avoiding suspicion, glanced back and saw that her private area was stained with a white, turbid substance.
"Rape and murder!" Su Peng immediately concluded, but a question arose: How did she end up in his room, on his bed?
Su Peng frowned, turned his head to glance at the door, and thought about what had happened.
"I ate in the game, logged out, and then logged back in, which took about forty minutes. When I logged out, there was no one on the bed, so this woman must have appeared during this time... A dead person can't walk, and the bed was neatly made, so the first crime scene wasn't in my room. This woman's body was moved here."
"The door latch is still in place, and there are no signs of forced entry. This small building isn't just my home; there are a few others on the same floor. The body doesn't seem to have been moved through the door... The window has always been open, and from the window, one can see if anyone is in the room. The second floor isn't very high, and anyone with a bit of lightness in their step could have entered."
Thinking this, Su Peng didn't look back out the window but recalled the locations from which the room could be seen.
"The real murderer killed this woman and then moved her body into my room without disturbing the room's arrangement. It seems like a frame-up... If I were the murderer, I would likely be hiding nearby, watching this room. Most people, upon finding a naked woman's body in their room, would panic. This kind of situation is hard to explain, and most people would think about how to clear their name... The most likely action would be to dispose of the body in an uninhabited place to avoid trouble."
Su Peng continued his analysis: "If I were the murderer, I would wait nearby, hiding, and if I saw me disposing of the body, I would follow and find a witness to catch me red-handed, making it impossible for me to explain."
Thinking this, Su Peng felt no panic but had an idea.
"Since the murderer might be watching me, why not use this to my advantage and pretend to dispose of the body to lure him out?" Su Peng thought.
The more he thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.
"Let's do it!" Su Peng decided, turned around, and pretended to be panicked, closing the window.
Then, Su Peng walked to the bed, looked at the woman's body, and sighed. Although his Bag of Holding could barely fit her, he didn't want to do that. He decided to keep the scene intact. He pulled down the curtain on the bed so that it couldn't be seen from outside.
Next, Su Peng scanned the room and noticed a storage box that was just the right size to fit the woman's body. He opened it, and it was empty. "This will do," he thought, closed the lid, put the box on his back, and opened the window, jumping out with the box.
The small building was in the back courtyard of the inn, and outside the window was another courtyard. Su Peng jumped out of the window into a dark alley. It was already dark, and the alley was empty, leading to an uninhabited waterway.
Su Peng deliberately slowed down, carrying the box toward the waterway, staying alert.
The alley became increasingly muddy and dark as he went deeper. Both sides were high walls of courtyards, but the alley twisted and turned, eventually leading to an uninhabited shore of Dongting Lake. Su Peng quickly reached the shore but saw no one following him.
"Did I misjudge?" Su Peng thought, but since he was putting on a show, he had to make it convincing. He pretended to look for a suitable place to dispose of the body.
"Who's there! What are you doing?"
At that moment, a loud voice suddenly rang out behind Su Peng!
Finally, someone appeared. Was it the murderer?
But when Su Peng heard the voice, he frowned. He turned around and saw a beautiful, spirited young woman in a light yellow dress, who had appeared at some point. She was standing not far away, her distinctive eyebrows raised, shouting at him!
It was the young woman in the yellow dress whom Su Peng had seen in the inn, who he suspected was a police chief.
"Why is it you?" Su Peng asked, puzzled.
"What's wrong with me? It's you who's out at night, carrying a box. What's in the box?" The young woman in the yellow dress said sternly.
"Just taking a walk..." Su Peng was preoccupied. Why was this young woman here? Could she be related to the murderer? She couldn't be the murderer, but was she involved? If so, things would get complicated.
"Lying! You're very suspicious. Let me see what's in the box, and then come with me to the authorities!" The young woman in the yellow dress didn't believe Su Peng. She drew a short, oddly shaped knife from its sheath and said to Su Peng.
But Su Peng's attention was elsewhere, scanning the surroundings for any signs of the murderer.
Suddenly, Su Peng noticed someone hiding behind a tree about fifty meters away. The person's head, illuminated by the faint moonlight, was extremely shiny.
"It's you?!" Su Peng had excellent eyesight and immediately recognized the shiny bald head of the flower monk Yao Tong, who had fled earlier!
Yao Tong, seeing Su Peng, was also startled. He had been following Su Peng, watching the scene, and had become engrossed, not realizing that Su Peng's eyesight was so good that he had spotted him!
The fake monk was decisive and immediately turned and ran!
Su Peng didn't waste time telling him to stop. He threw the box and used his divine speed technique to chase after the fake monk Yao Tong.
"Stop!" The young woman in the yellow dress immediately stepped forward, kicked the box open, and found it empty. She cursed, "Damn!" and then leaped after Su Peng...
