Chapter 5: The Spirit Technique Pavilion

The next day, after waking up, Aoshuang, with Lüer’s assistance, had breakfast, freshened up, and then headed towards the Spirit Technique Pavilion.

Aoshuang actually didn’t like having servants around him all the time. In his previous life, he was a killer, accustomed to going solo.

As he walked to the training ground, the younger generation of the Ao family was already practicing. Seeing Aoshuang approach, they all looked at him with admiration.

"Look, that’s Big Brother Aoshuang. I heard he easily defeated Big Brother Aowen yesterday?"

"What do you mean 'easily'? I was there yesterday. It took just one move to make Big Brother Aowen lose."

Aowen, who happened to be walking by, heard the younger generation of the Ao family talking about his embarrassment. He felt uncomfortable and his eyes flashed with jealousy as he looked at Aoshuang.

Aoshuang naturally sensed Aowen’s gaze, but he didn’t take Aowen seriously. Killers are usually very proud, and ordinary people rarely meet their standards. Aoshuang glanced at Aowen and then walked towards the eastern pavilion, stopping in front of a four-story building.

Above the door of the pavilion was a plaque, on which three powerful and elegant characters were carved: "Spirit Technique Pavilion." These three characters faintly emitted a mysterious aura, as if they contained some profound secrets.

Aoshuang, being a killer in his previous life, had highly developed senses. When he saw the three characters "Spirit Technique Pavilion," his body trembled slightly. He felt that these characters were extraordinary, surely carved by a powerful martial artist. Each stroke was filled with a fierce aura, and Aoshuang could almost see a powerful martial artist wielding a precious sword to carve them.

"Junior, can you read these three characters?" An elderly voice came from inside the pavilion.

Aoshuang was taken aback, knowing that the elders had highly developed senses and could feel someone’s presence even with their eyes closed. He first bowed slightly to the pavilion and then said calmly, "The three characters 'Spirit Technique Pavilion' were not written with a pen. I think they were carved by a powerful martial artist with a sword."

"Hmm," the elderly voice paused for a moment and then continued from inside the pavilion, "Junior, you are quite impressive. Come in."

Aoshuang didn’t waste any words and walked into the pavilion.

This place was the Ao family’s "Spirit Technique Pavilion," where the treasures left by the ancestors of the Ao family were stored.

On the first floor of the Spirit Technique Pavilion were low and mid-level human-grade techniques and manuals. The second floor had high-level human-grade techniques and spirit techniques. The third floor had low and mid-level earth-grade techniques and spirit techniques. The fourth floor had high-level earth-grade techniques and the only low-level heaven-grade technique, "Vajra Decision," in the Ao family.

Aoshuang, being a martial master, could already practice high-level human-grade spirit techniques and techniques, but to practice earth-grade techniques and spirit techniques, one had to reach the realm of a celestial spirit master.

Reaching the realm of a spirit king allowed one to practice heaven-grade techniques and spirit techniques.

Above the heaven-grade were the saint-grade and emperor-grade. The Ao family, with its centuries of tradition, had only one low-level heaven-grade spirit technique, which showed how difficult it was to practice saint-grade techniques and spirit techniques.

As for the emperor-grade, it was even more rare. One could practice it after reaching the spirit saint realm, but even the lowest-level emperor-grade techniques and spirit techniques could become the cornerstone of a third-rank sect, highlighting their value!

The levels of martial artists, from lowest to highest, were martial apprentice, martial master, spirit master, celestial spirit master, spirit king, spirit venerable, spirit saint, and spirit emperor. Aoshuang was currently a second-rank martial master, which placed him at the lower end of the Lingyu Continent.

Aoshuang himself practiced the "Golden Spirit Decision," a high-level human-grade technique. Although he vaguely knew that he possessed both golden and demonic attributes, and that his demonic attribute had a high cultivation potential, the Ao family had no demonic attribute techniques, mostly golden attribute ones. Therefore, Aoshuang decided not to change his technique for now, as it was sufficient for his cultivation. His main purpose in coming to the Spirit Technique Pavilion was to select spirit techniques.

The first floor had low and mid-level human-grade spirit techniques and techniques, and Aoshuang didn’t linger much, heading directly to the second floor.

The second floor displayed high-level human-grade techniques and spirit techniques. On the left were the techniques, and on the right were the spirit techniques.

Aoshuang walked to the right side, intending to choose a sword technique and a finger technique. Being a killer in his previous life, he used his right hand to wield a sword in combat, while his left hand remained behind him, ready to deliver a fatal blow at the critical moment.

Aoshuang looked up, and the variety of high-level human-grade spirit techniques almost dazzled him.

"Flying Heaven Sword Technique, Willow Fluff Sword Technique, Killing Sword Technique, Five Harmony Palm, Eight Desolate Fist, Vajra Fist, Monkey Fist, Tan Family Leg Technique, Hidden Finger..."

There were about thirty to forty sword techniques, over fifty palm and fist techniques, twenty-eight leg techniques, and only three finger techniques.

The Flying Heaven Sword Technique required a high level of lightness skill, with each move being graceful and elegant. The Willow Fluff Sword Technique was slightly more profound, requiring a certain level of insight. The Killing Sword Technique was fierce and ruthless, suitable for cold-natured disciples to practice. Once the Killing Sword Technique was unleashed, each sword was more powerful than the last, making it impossible to resist.

Aoshuang decided to choose the Killing Sword Technique, as he had been a killer in his previous life.

As for the finger technique, there were only three: Phantom Yin Finger, Hidden Finger, and Formless Plundering Finger, all high-level human-grade techniques.

The Phantom Yin Finger was devious and poisonous, causing the victim to be infected with a yin poison that could only be neutralized with yang energy.

The Hidden Finger was a secret technique of the Murong family, hidden in the sleeve, making it difficult for opponents to guard against.

The Formless Plundering Finger could injure silently and without warning.

Aoshuang chose the Formless Plundering Finger because, although it was similar to the Hidden Finger in its aim to surprise the opponent, the Formless Plundering Finger was an incomplete version. Even the incomplete version could reach the high-level human-grade, leading Aoshuang to infer that the complete version might be mid-level or even high-level earth-grade.

"Hey! The Killing Sword Technique?" The pavilion guardian elder walked over, frowning, and advised, "I know everyone wants to practice better martial techniques, but don’t be overly ambitious. Take it step by step. The Killing Sword Technique may appear to be a high-level human-grade spirit technique, but its difficulty is comparable to a low-level earth-grade spirit technique. Many Ao family disciples ignored my advice and ended up achieving nothing, wasting a lot of time. Moreover, the Killing Sword Technique is all about the word 'kill.'"

Aoshuang saw the elder walk over, having only heard his voice until now. The pavilion guardian elder looked to be over a hundred years old, with deep wrinkles on his face and a small, hunched figure. Aoshuang knew the elder meant well and said, "Elder, I know the Killing Sword Technique is difficult to practice, but I have confidence."

The pavilion guardian elder shook his head. In the past, the Ao family disciples were also full of confidence, but confidence alone was not enough. Well, I have no right to stop him from choosing. I hope he knows when to back off and doesn’t get stuck in a rut.

Thinking this, the pavilion guardian elder warned, "You know the rules of our Ao family. Without permission, you cannot privately teach martial arts. If you do, you will be stripped of your martial arts skills at best, and at worst, you will be beheaded. Additionally, you must return the copy of the manual within three months."

"Elder, rest assured. I am well aware of these rules." Aoshuang said and then left.

The pavilion guardian elder had guarded the Spirit Technique Pavilion for many years and had seen countless Ao family disciples. For some reason, as he watched Aoshuang leave, he felt that Aoshuang was different from the others. "I hope he can surprise me. These years, to bet with Old Ao, I have been quite lonely."
