Amidst the bustling traffic and the constant flow of people heading to their destinations,

Tokyo, six years later, seemed to have left the turmoil behind, though the ripple effects still lingered in more distant regions.

After three months of training at the police academy, Tang Ze arrived in this world, sparing him the arduous training process.

Today was the second day since his arrival, and he was about to report to the Metropolitan Police Department. He would start as a police officer and intern at the police station for nine months before officially joining the Metropolitan Police Department.

At that time, his starting rank would be Inspector.

With a heart full of anticipation and a touch of excitement, Tang Ze headed to the First Investigation Division, Third Homicide Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department, where he would begin his internship.

During these nine months, he would learn from his seniors and, if a case arose, even participate in on-site investigations.

This was the source of his excitement and nervousness. In his previous life, he was a fan of detective novels, but he never imagined he would actually be involved in such work. For a moment, he wasn't sure whether he was more excited or afraid.

However, perhaps due to the parallel world, Tang Ze noticed some changes in the police system here.

In his previous life, after the internship phase, career officers would not be involved in on-site investigations. The young Inspectors often portrayed in Japanese dramas, who were generally disliked for their arrogance, were usually career officers.

They did not handle on-site investigations but worked in the office.

Because of his interest in detective stories, Tang Ze had been exposed to many Japanese works and was familiar with these details.

He had originally thought that after the nine-month internship, he would never be involved in on-site investigations again. However, after searching his memory, he discovered that the police system in this world was different from what he knew.

In his previous life, the promotion system for Japanese police was quite peculiar. Promotions were based on exam scores, not on one's ability to solve cases.

The promotion speed varied greatly among the three groups, and there were no special promotion channels.

In other words, solving cases and earning merit were one thing, but using them to get promoted was another.

Sorry, no chance.

But this world was different.

Even non-career officers could be promoted based on their performance and achievements.

Although there was an invisible ceiling for promotions, and some positions had no real power after reaching a certain level, it was still much better than the peculiar system from his previous life.

At least capable individuals received better treatment in terms of salary and other benefits.

Career officers were not limited to on-site work only during their internship, as they were in his previous life.

In his predecessor's memory, many career officers also led teams in on-site investigations.

For those who excelled, promotions were even more impressive, and they held real power and were respected, making them the elite of the elite.

The reason for this, as far as his predecessor knew, was due to a shortage of personnel caused by frequent murders. The Metropolitan Police Department had implemented a reform long ago, which led to the significant changes in the system.

Perhaps this was the difference caused by the different world.

In the early morning, Tang Ze got up early from his rental apartment, washed up, combed his hair, and put on a suit before heading to the Metropolitan Police Department to report.

Since the assigned dormitory needed to be located and his rental contract had not expired, Tang Ze temporarily stayed in the rental apartment, planning to gradually move into the dormitory.

After all, it was a single room, and he would be staying there for a long time, so he needed to tidy it up properly.

His destination was the First Investigation Division, Third Homicide Unit of the Metropolitan Police Department.

With a complex mix of emotions that he couldn't quite describe, Tang Ze took a piece of bread and a glass of milk and set out early.

Although he arrived early, Tang Ze did not go directly to his assigned unit but first went to the single dormitory assigned by the Metropolitan Police Department.

After familiarizing himself with the place, Tang Ze then headed to the office of the First Investigation Division, Third Homicide Unit.

"Ah, you must be Tang Ze. You're quite young and talented. Please look forward to working with us," said a middle-aged man named Megure Juzo, with a kind expression.

His plump figure, brown coat, brown hat, and long beard gave a familiar feeling.

"Ah, I should be the one to say that. Please take care of me, Inspector Megure," Tang Ze said, snapping out of his daze.

"This is Sato Miyako, one of my best subordinates," Megure introduced a short-haired, capable woman to Tang Ze.

"Nice to meet you. Please take care of me," Tang Ze said, bowing slightly, though he felt a bit dazed again.

"Don't be so formal. You might be my superior one day. If you have any questions, just ask. No need to be polite," the short-haired woman said with a hearty laugh, patting Tang Ze's shoulder.

"Where are Takagi and Baihe?" Inspector Megure asked Sato Miyako, looking a bit puzzled.

"Ah, someone reported a suspect in a robbery and murder case near Mihama Park, so they went to stake out," Sato Miyako explained.

"I see. Tang Ze, I'll introduce you to the others when they return. For now, just get used to the environment, but be ready to go on duty at any time," Inspector Megure said.

"I understand," Tang Ze said, bowing slightly.

With Sato Miyako's help, Tang Ze placed his belongings on his desk and felt a bit dazed.

It couldn't be helped; these names were...

Too damn familiar!!!

And their characteristics were so similar! Although he hadn't seen Inspector Takagi and Baihe yet, Inspector Megure and Sato Miyako looked exactly as he remembered!

"Could I have crossed into the world of 'Detective Conan'?"

At that moment, this thought flashed through Tang Ze's mind, and he once again felt that his predecessor's choice of this profession was simply perfect!

Why?

Because the world of Detective Conan was extremely dangerous!

No matter what profession you were in, no matter how many friends you had, or how happy your family was,

As soon as that "grim reaper" took his steps—ah, no, took his elementary school student's steps, you might suddenly find your friends turning against you, your family destroyed, or even become the main material for his boasting!!

At that time, it wouldn't be your friends committing murder or your parents suffering; you yourself might die at any moment.

In comparison, police officers who were involved in such cases rarely suffered, and even if they faced some danger, it was usually not life-threatening, and they often managed to escape unharmed.

Would you say his predecessor's choice of this profession was not fitting?

First, the economic crisis was resolved, and the financial strain on his family was greatly alleviated. Even though there were still savings from a few years ago, living off them was always unsettling.

The worst-case scenario for his parents was to sell the hot spring, but now they could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

The survival crisis was also resolved.

After all, in the world of Detective Conan, although it seemed peaceful, it was always fraught with life-threatening dangers.

Becoming a police officer, and as long as he maintained a good relationship with Conan, providing information when needed and trusting the kid's deductions, he could perfectly avoid the grim reaper's harvest.

And when the cases were solved, it would be the most perfect outcome!

Yes, the plan is perfect!
