"Wu, I really can't understand why the gods allowed you to change your class. Well, I'm not doubting you, but your archery skills are just... too much."
On the way back, Doug shook his head vigorously, looking utterly baffled. He had never heard of any class changer who was completely clueless about archery; it was just too incredible.
I pondered for a moment before saying solemnly, "Geniuses are always different and beyond comprehension."
Doug: "..."
"By the way, Doug, Gouf, do you know where Lar is? I want to visit him and then continue my training."
"He, he's already fallen into family mode."
In the restaurant below the Dream Inn, Doug, with a large piece of meat in his mouth, mumbled indistinctly.
"A soft bed is a hero's grave."
Gouf said a profound truth, his eyes filled with concern.
"Alright, let's go see him tomorrow, and then I might set off."
"Wu, you're already level 3, right (I admit, I lied), you should be able to find some teams now. It's better not to go alone for training."
Doug said sincerely. In his view, although I had survived the last training by luck, my combat skills were still too raw. Training couldn't always rely on luck; it was safer to form a team, at least for mutual support.
"Alright, I'll think about it."
I took a sip of soup, absentmindedly. Although Doug's words made sense, I had my own reasons. It wasn't that I didn't want to team up with others, but I couldn't.
The night passed without incident. The next morning, I got up early. If everything went as expected, after seeing Lar and visiting Akara, I could set off again by evening or the next morning.
"Doug, wake up!!"
I kicked open his door and shouted loudly. What, you think I'm getting revenge? Impossible, someone as ungrudgeful as me.
Doug was sprawled on the bed like a salmon, half his big butt exposed, snoring loudly. My loud shout was like a small ripple swallowed by the tidal wave of his snoring.
"Doug, wake up! The sun is already on your butt. You said you'd take me to Lar's this morning!" I pulled his ear forcefully and shouted.
No response.
Very well.
I looked at the sunlight streaming in from the window.
Very well.
I looked at the mirror on the dresser.
Very well.
I picked up the mirror, detached the frame, and "processed" it slightly. Then I placed it by the window, adjusting the angle so that a beam of light focused subtly on Doug's half-exposed butt. I then walked out of his room and went downstairs, leisurely ordering a bowl of milk soup, took a sip, and thought, well, the countdown begins.
It took a full half-hour before a deafening scream came from upstairs...
Wow, such tough skin, I thought. Although the morning sunlight wasn't intense, it had focused for half an hour. Even raw meat would be charred by now.
"Damn..."
On the way, the sleep-deprived Doug, with red eyes, cursed.
"If I find out which wizard dared to burn my butt while I was sleeping, I'll strip him naked and throw him in the town square."
I shivered inwardly, feeling a chill. Phew, good thing Doug doesn't know about focusing light. Ignorance is truly terrifying. The ancients were right!
Is this Lar's home? I stared at the elegant wooden house on the open ground, surrounded by a small wooden fence. In the Rogue Encampment, this was comparable to a luxury villa.
"Having a home is different."
Doug sighed.
"Corruption."
Even Gouf was envious.
"Lar, look who's back."
Doug, the insensitive one, didn't even knock, pushing open the wooden gate and walking in. How could you do that? What if Lar and his wife suddenly decided to play a very yellow and violent game in the courtyard?
Gouf and I hurriedly followed, planning to watch the commotion... no, to stop Doug's rash actions.
In the courtyard, under a lush tree, green grass grew on the ground. A middle-aged beauty sat under the tree, holding something in her hand, while a man knelt on the ground...
Cough, I knew you guys had impure thoughts. I tested you, and you failed!
The middle-aged beauty held a thin book, but her warm gaze was on the man kneeling on the grass. The man had a gentle smile, and a little girl around ten years old sat on his back, her face beaming with innocent, sunny innocence. Her small hands were tugging at the poor man's hair.
What a beautiful scene of family bliss. But, little girl, how old are you? Still playing such a childish game...
Unfortunately, this perfect family scene was rudely interrupted by Doug's loud voice. The smiles on their faces froze, mingling with our teasing gazes.
At that moment, the thick-skinned Doug, in a moment of panic, said something that made me, a person from a world of rampant internet culture, fall over in shock.
"Sorry, wrong door. Continue." Then he stepped back, closed the door, all in one smooth motion.
Indeed, most famous quotes are born out of necessity. If this world started to develop technology and internet trends, Doug might become a legendary internet celebrity on par with Sister Lotus...
After a while, the door finally opened. Lar, whom we hadn't seen in a long time, still looked energetic, wearing a very common set of civilian clothes. At first glance, he looked like one of those pitiful uncles who sell roasted sweet potatoes on the street, fighting with the city management officers.
"Oh, our holy 'knight' Lar, tsk tsk..."
Doug said sarcastically, emphasizing the word "knight" heavily, his level of sarcasm and blackness rivaling the "former" Lar.
"Hey, isn't that Doug and Gouf?"
Lar said with a smile, showing no sign of embarrassment. Indeed, a holy knight's high defense mostly comes from their thick skin.
"Sara, your barbarian (monster) uncles are here to see you and want to play horse with you."
Lar is Lar. Even after a month of idleness, his ruthlessness and blackness were beyond Doug's reach. In just a few words, he pushed Doug into the gutter and threw in Gouf for free. Truly despicable.
Sure enough, the two barbarians' faces changed, and they were about to leave, but the little girl had already come out from behind Lar. She glanced at me, the strange and handsome (Wukong, you're lying again =o=) big brother, and then, with her clear, innocent voice, like a nightingale, she called out joyfully.
"Really? Uncle Doug, Uncle Gouf."
