"What are you doing?"
Staring at the guide's outrageous actions and hearing a grenade explode nearby, the 'gentlemanly bespectacled white-collar worker' finally snapped under the immense psychological pressure and leaped out, angrily rebuking.
The others had similar expressions, a mix of shock and indignation, even a hint of hatred.
It was already terrifying enough to be inexplicably transported to this eerie and terrifying rooftop to catch a cold. Being told they had died once made their mental state even heavier. Now, this crazy woman was even more deranged, verbally intimidating and throwing grenades to draw monsters. Did she think they weren't dying fast enough?
In the crowd, Bai Lang, who was just tagging along, was amazed by her boldness but not particularly angry. If you were hung and whipped by a girl you had never met, and then had your hand cut off by another stranger without a word, you would understand how merciful this cheongsam lady was!
However, he also had a premonition of impending doom and was gradually moving towards the edge of the crowd.
...
Hearing the crowd's questioning, the woman stood up gracefully and replied with a smile, "Of course, this is the 'starting gun' before the competition. Is there a problem?"
Then, she stood on the edge of the rooftop, her soles and heels completely suspended, her skirt fluttering in the wind, and a huge blood moon appeared behind her. It looked thrilling and dangerous, yet uniquely beautiful.
"Then, goodbye."
With that, she leaped backward into the darkness, arms outstretched, falling in a 'backfall' style.
When the crowd ran to the edge of the rooftop in shock, the cheongsam woman was already gone.
...
Creak... creak... creak!
A huge black shadow suddenly plummeted from the sky, striking a woman's head, followed by a piercing scream and violent struggle. One after another, more black shadows rained down on the rooftop, attacking the ordinary people who were still confused.
"Monsters! There are monsters!"
"Don't bite me, don't eat me!"
"Help! Ahh... save me..."
These black shadows were about the size of basketballs. The sky was too dark to see the details clearly, but their wingspan exceeded one meter when fully extended, flapping violently and emitting shrill, unpleasant cries.
Bai Lang had sensed the danger early and had already moved away from the dense center of the crowd. Now, he turned and ran, agile and swift.
A flapping sound approached from above, and he quickly crouched down, seeing a monster miss his head and lunge at a more robust target nearby.
It was a middle-aged woman with an extremely plump figure, resembling a tank or a mountain of flesh. Due to her slow speed and lack of agility, she was caught off guard and knocked to the ground.
In a state of extreme fear, she screamed wildly, making Bai Lang shudder. Her fat hands struggled and flailed, eventually rolling and grappling with the flying monster, moving towards him.
She had intended to escape the biting attack but, unexpectedly, her heavy weight advantage broke the monster's wing. Instead of dying together, she gained the upper hand.
Seeing this, Bai Lang felt a surge of confidence. These monsters didn't seem so terrifying? But he ran even faster.
...
More and more flying monsters gathered. They were not strong individually but were a swarm that relied on numbers.
The sky was darkened by a cloud of black shadows, and some that missed their targets and landed were no longer as agile. Bai Lang kicked one over, and upon closer inspection, it resembled an enlarged bat-crow hybrid.
These monsters emitted unpleasant cries, fearlessly diving to attack, their sharp claws slicing like blades. More and more people were attacked and began to flee in panic.
"Quick, escape! The exit is over there!" someone pointed to a room on the rooftop and shouted.
The monsters rained down, targeting the panicked ordinary people. The scene was filled with screams, curses, and cries, extremely chaotic.
Some strong men, after the initial panic, finally fought back, tearing the monsters off their backs and necks, throwing them to the ground, and fleeing while resisting.
Several panicked women, after being attacked, curled into balls and gave up struggling, only to be covered by more black shadows, quickly turning into large, writhing monster masses. Their screams grew weaker and eventually stopped.
...
Bai Lang moved extremely quickly, without any clumsy teammates to slow him down, leading the way to the safety exit. Along the way, he was also harassed by flying monsters and was eventually caught.
The sharp, hooked bird-like feet pierced deep into his arm and shoulder, gripping tightly like iron hooks, impossible to shake off. The bat-like wings also had small, fishhook-like claws that further secured his body.
He felt a sharp pain in his shoulder, heard the unpleasant cries, and smelled a foul odor. Instead of panicking, the pain made him furious. He pulled the monster off his shoulder, feeling its furry body and the pungent smell. It flapped its wings violently, trying to escape.
Since being tortured after his穿越, he had been holding in a lot of anger, which now erupted. Ignoring the pain and disgust, he felt no fear, only a surge of strength. He grabbed the monster's furry wings and snapped them with a 'crack,' as easily as breaking a chicken wing.
Creak! Creak! Creak!
He continued running, feeling the warmth and violent trembling in his palm, clearly sensing the monster's rapid heartbeat.
Even with a broken wing, the monster remained fierce, its hind claws tearing at the air, and its pig-nose and dog-head opening 120 degrees to reveal a mouth full of small, interlocking teeth, trying to bite his fingers.
Another monster flew towards him, and Bai Lang, holding the dead monster by its neck, swung it like a flail, feeling its cervical vertebrae 'crack' as they dislocated and broke.
The meat flail spun in front of him, forming a protective shield. Bai Lang, mimicking Captain America, successfully hit a descending black shadow. Then, he felt a painful bite in his palm. This thing was still terrifying even with a broken neck?
He felt a wave of disgust and threw it to the ground, stomping on it with his heel. The sensation of the slippery, crisp cracking under his shoe was immediate, and his ankle twisted slightly, causing his body to wobble. He quickly regained his balance, lowered his head, and burst through the door into the safety exit.
...
On the rooftop, the flying monsters gathered more densely, forming a dark cloud that obscured the night sky, their shrill cries causing chills.
These creatures were not individually powerful and were also cowards, retreating when attacked. Eventually, they swooped down, targeting the few weak and fleeing ordinary people, piling on them in dense masses.
Outside, the screams and cries continued. Bai Lang, standing on the stairs and leaning against the wall, panted heavily. His heart pounded, and he didn't feel the pain from his wounds, his mind blank with excitement.
He even felt a bit unsatisfied. The feeling just now... was really thrilling!
Beside him, more and more survivors rushed into the passage, blocking the door and sitting on the steps, panting. More people kept coming, frantically pounding on the door and being let in one by one.
Bai Lang looked around; everyone was injured, but not severely. The worst were covered in blood. These flying fur monsters were loud and aggressive but had low damage output.
