Chapter 2

"If you do not want your life to end here,

If you want to gain a brand new life,

Then please sign the contract,

And become an intervener in the relay world."

This contract appeared directly in his mind, transcending the barriers of time and space, tangible and intangible, and was sent at the moment of death.

The boy regained consciousness from the chaos of life and death, feeling himself floating in an endless void. Then the void turned into a brilliant starry sky, and he felt as if he were floating in the universe. The sudden sensation of falling pulled him toward the ground.

Before the boy appeared an endless expanse of land, high in the middle and low around the edges, resembling a giant concentric circle.

There was no time to ponder why there was such a circular land in the universe. What was originally a disk-sized land now filled his entire field of vision. At this distance, he could see forests, rivers, and various buildings, from ancient brick and stone fortresses to futuristic steel skyscrapers.

But there was no leisure to admire the magnificent scenery before him. If he landed from such a height, he would certainly meet a not-so-sweet death.

The boy watched the changing scenery. He had no ability to fly, nor was he immortal. If he landed like this, he would certainly die. However, there was neither panic nor fear on his face.

This was not because he was calm and composed, nor because he was resigned to death. In fact, it was because his consciousness was not clear.

His consciousness was like a ship floating on the sea, and he was in such a state at this moment.

He could neither fall into a deep sleep nor fully wake up.

Something had happened, he knew something very important had occurred, but he could not recall it. It was as important as life and death.

His ears were filled with the buzzing of flies, and his brain felt like a pot of boiling soup being stirred.

He was in a state of conscious coma.

The endless fall ended, and he plopped onto the ground, but he did not die. He did not even get injured.

A series of voices rang out around the boy, and there were seven or eight other people around him.

This was an aerial platform, and the end was in sight. There was nothing but a central pillar of light.

At this moment, the pillar of light flashed, and a figure appeared within it. It was clear that the person had appeared in an instant, as there was definitely no one there before.

The suddenly appearing person clapped his hands to attract attention, but in fact, everyone's eyes were already on him.

He stepped out of the pillar of light. He was a tall, muscular man, and even a simple sports outfit could not hide his strong muscles. He exuded a powerful aura.

Everyone on the platform fell silent, and the tall man seemed satisfied, nodding his head. His cold face seemed a bit less cold.

"You are here because you have signed the contract. Now I will explain the rules of this world and your new lives."

"Contract?"

"Yes, the one you heard after you died."

"Did we really die?"

"Yes, listen to me carefully and do not interrupt. You, I, and all of us have died once, but we were revived by something unknown and summoned to this place called the relay world."

The tall man waved his hand and pointed beyond the platform. Below the platform was the world he had seen from the sky, and in the distance, the central peak could be seen through the clouds.

"Do not doubt it; this is a true other world. I'm sure you have already seen the full view, which is a benefit provided by the system to new arrivals."

The group seemed to recall the sensation of falling from the sky, and most of their expressions were not good.

"Is this really another world? Who? Why did they bring us here?"

One of the young men with glasses asked repeatedly, somewhat agitated.

"Didn't I say not to interrupt me!"

In an instant, the tall man's figure disappeared, and almost simultaneously, the young man with glasses, who was about ten meters away, fell to the ground with a cry, and the tall man was stepping on his back.

No one saw the tall man's movements clearly; it did not seem like a speed a human could achieve.

The young man with glasses nodded rapidly in response.

"Very good."

The tall man lifted his foot, and the young man with glasses immediately rolled to the side. It seemed he was only scared and not injured.

"It seems you no longer doubt that this is another world. The thing that summoned us here is called the system by all the interveners here. What exactly it is, I do not know. What I do know is that the system is the manager of this relay world and all the interveners here."

The tall man shrugged.

"Next, I will explain something important about our survival. By signing the contract with the system, we have become interveners in this relay world, which will be our new home. We will receive tasks from the system, and the locations of these tasks will be various other worlds. Completing these tasks is our mission. Of course, these tasks are not easy to complete, and we will encounter all kinds of dangers. If we die, we will not be revived. Each time we complete a task, we will receive reward points from the system. Reward points are essentially wages, and we can use them to buy food, houses, luxuries, and more importantly, to enhance our own power."

At this point, the tall man looked around the group.

The young man with glasses cautiously raised his hand.
