In no time, three days had passed, and Wang Peng had become accustomed to school life. High school life was very relaxed, nothing like the high schools in China where students were so exhausted from preparing for the college entrance exam that they were more tired than dead dogs. Of course, they also had to take the college entrance exam, but the atmosphere was much more pleasant.

Apart from attending classes every day, Wang Peng spent most of his time riding his newly bought bicycle around the small town, then buying groceries and returning to the rented house to spend a considerable amount of time cooking delicious meals for himself.

During this period, Wang Peng had been observing Claire. Claire appeared to be a completely ordinary high school girl, with nothing special about her. Wang Peng had not observed any signs of her superpowers. Claire had hidden her abilities very well, at least at school.

Today, Wang Peng was riding his bicycle around the town. Because the population in the West was sparse, there were many desolate and open areas, with many tall industrial structures standing there. In the distance, there were lush green mountains, a great place to relax.

"Hmm?" Wang Peng was enjoying the gentle breeze while riding his bicycle when he suddenly noticed something. He quickly stopped his bicycle, squinted his eyes, and looked in the direction not far away.

He saw a girl standing on an industrial tower, which was about eighty feet tall. The girl was standing outside the railing, and if she let go, she would fall and certainly be crushed to death at that height.

"What is she doing!?" Wang Peng was shocked by the scene. Could this girl be trying to commit suicide? He quickly pedaled his bicycle and rushed towards the industrial tower, hoping to save the girl.

However, the distance between Wang Peng and the industrial tower was much farther than he had imagined. Just as he started pedaling, he watched helplessly as the girl on the industrial tower fell. Because there was a slope of earth blocking his view, Wang Peng did not know what had happened to the girl after she fell.

"Damn!" Wang Peng cursed under his breath, pedaling even faster. It took him nearly ten minutes to reach the base of the industrial tower.

When Wang Peng finally arrived, he didn't even stop his bicycle properly, but threw it to the ground and ran quickly to where the girl had fallen. But when he got there, he was stunned.

There was nothing on the ground, no girl, no body.

"How... how is this possible?" Wang Peng muttered in disbelief, looking up at the towering industrial tower and confirming the location again. There was no mistake; the girl had jumped from there, but how could there be no one?

"Wait! These marks." Wang Peng, feeling puzzled by the strange situation, calmed down and immediately noticed something abnormal. He took a few steps forward, squatted down, and examined the ground carefully.

Wang Peng was a professor of archaeology and had conducted many field investigations abroad, excavating ancient sites and tombs. He was very sensitive to details, and the ground was clearly very abnormal.

"That girl did jump down, and she should have landed here. The marks are very clear, and there are even bloodstains." Wang Peng, half-squatting on the ground, used his years of archaeological experience to analyze the marks on the ground.

"What's going on? Jumping from such a height, a normal person would have been crushed to death and couldn't possibly have survived." Wang Peng looked up at the height of the industrial tower, puzzled.

Wang Peng stood up, walked around for a bit, and then returned to where he had left his bicycle. He stood it up and recalled the scene he had just witnessed, pondering the entire situation.

"Right! The girl's clothes... it looked like the school cheerleading uniform!?" Wang Peng remembered the girl's clothes, which, despite the distance and the blurry view, had a pattern, color, and style very similar to the school cheerleading uniform.

Since Claire was the school's cheerleading captain, Wang Peng had often observed her to observe her superpowers. Although he had only been in school for a few days, he was very familiar with the school cheerleading uniform.

'Boom!' Just as Wang Peng was wondering about the girl, a loud noise suddenly came from not far away.

"What's that sound!?" Wang Peng was startled and quickly looked in the direction of the sound, seeing black smoke rising in the distance.

Wang Peng pedaled his bicycle towards the source of the black smoke. After a few minutes, he arrived and found that it was an accident, apparently a train derailment. The carriages were scattered on the ground, flames raging, and thick black smoke everywhere.

"Quick! Higher water pressure!!" Dozens of firefighters were using water hoses to spray the flames, but the fire was too large to be extinguished immediately. Almost every carriage was on fire, and there were not enough people or water hoses.

"Hmm? What's that?" Wang Peng pushed his bicycle to the perimeter, watching the firefighters extinguish the fire. His gaze swept around and suddenly focused on something.

"Claire? Why is she here?" Wang Peng saw Claire standing outside the perimeter, about a dozen people away from him. What caught Wang Peng's attention more was that Claire was wearing a cheerleading uniform, looking very disheveled, with dirt on her face and what appeared to be bloodstains on her clothes.

Just as Wang Peng was wondering why Claire looked so disheveled, he saw a boy with a trendy appearance, wearing big headphones and pushing a bicycle, walk up to Claire. They seemed to know each other and were talking to each other.

However, because of the distance and the sounds of the fire, water hoses, police sirens, and firefighters' shouts, Wang Peng couldn't hear what they were saying.

"What is she planning to do!?" Just as Wang Peng was about to push his bicycle over and greet Claire, he saw Claire's actions and was stunned.

He saw Claire hand something to the boy, then bend down and crawl under the perimeter, looking around cautiously. Seeing that no police or firefighters had noticed her, she crouched and ran directly into the fire scene.

At this moment, Wang Peng also saw what Claire had given the boy: a DV camera. The boy fumbled with the DV camera, turned it on, and started filming Claire's back.

Wang Peng, coming to his senses, saw Claire rush into the fire scene and was about to stop her, but he hesitated when he saw the boy filming with the DV camera, feeling that something was not right.

After much hesitation, Wang Peng finally stood by the perimeter, frowning as he watched Claire run into the smoke-filled fire scene, keeping his eyes on her.

'Boom!' Claire ran past a burning carriage and saw a large flame burst out, almost burning her. Wang Peng instinctively took a few steps forward.

"Please step back, do not approach." Just as Wang Peng took a few steps forward, a police officer noticed him and pushed him back, making him stay away from the fire scene.

Interrupted by the police, when Wang Peng looked back at Claire, he could only see the thick smoke and raging flames, unable to find Claire.

"Where did she go?" Wang Peng turned his head back and forth, searching for Claire.

"Quick! Quick! There's someone there!" Just as Wang Peng was desperately searching for Claire, he heard a firefighter shouting. His gaze was instinctively drawn to the scene.

He saw a firefighter drop his water hose, call to the other firefighters, and run forward. Wang Peng squinted and looked in the direction they were running.

He saw Claire supporting a clearly injured person, walking out of the burning carriage. Claire's body was on fire in several places, looking very dangerous.

Two firefighters ran towards Claire, taking off their clothes as they ran. One firefighter supported the injured person and gently laid him on the ground, while the other firefighter wrapped Claire in his clothes and pushed her down.

The firefighters' clothes were specially made and highly fire-resistant. As soon as the large clothes wrapped around Claire, the flames on her body were immediately extinguished.

The firefighter seemed to be comforting Claire, then took off the clothes and helped Claire sit up, grabbing the burning parts of her clothes and tearing them off, apparently to treat the burns. Given the extent of the flames on Claire's body, if not treated promptly, it would definitely be a severe burn.

However, what surprised Wang Peng was that when the firefighter tore off Claire's clothes and saw the skin that should have been burned, he was stunned, his face showing surprise.

Claire also had a strange expression. She did not show any signs of pain or discomfort, but rather a look of confusion and bewilderment, as if she didn't know what to do.

The other firefighter, who was attending to the injured person, seemed to notice that the injuries were serious and called the stunned firefighter over.

The firefighter by Claire's side, hearing his colleague's voice, came to his senses and ran to the injured person.

When the firefighters left Claire's side, she also came to her senses. She seemed unharmed, slowly getting up from the ground, cautiously looking at the firefighter, and then turned and ran away, running very fast.

The two firefighters, busy performing CPR on the injured person, did not notice Claire until she had already disappeared from the fire scene.

However, Wang Peng had seen everything. He rubbed his chin, a thoughtful expression on his face.
