VOLUME 1 – CHILDHOOD

The Conclusion

Pack (01/03)

NT:Alright, soo… It’s been a while, ¿isn’t it?

I… have been a little busy. Shortly after the last chapter, my teachers started throwing a lot of homework and test and more crap and and it been really caotic due all this crap that is going on everywhere (the COVID stuff and we having the be doing some Online Classes)… and honestly, it’s not over yet (and the second wave of crap was suppose the start this next week…). The only reason why i found the time to do this was because my classmates, o, well, all the students from all over the university goes nut because of all of this (seriously, a whole month having the do some home-work, atending classes, doing more homework, studying for a couple of test, then clases, then homework, then… yep, it was awful)… anyway, the thing is that me fellow classmates (well, everyone, even me) are ploting agains the U due a few thing, like, they still asking us for money even thoug at least half of the students doens’t have any income due the pandemic, or the U making all of us and the professors just make work the classes with the things WE have and not providing any equipment to help us do all of this despite all the money we are paying them to do exactly that (My Uni has only gived to us a Microsoft Teams account to attend the Online Classes and that was all and a few teachers have had to teach their classes from their cell phones because their PCs do not support the program (they have some regular PCs that they only use to “make the tests” and things like that) and the Uni haven’t provide them with the proper equipment).

(Also, to give you an idea, my University charges like 5~5.3K USD (approximately) per year to each student to cover all kinds of expenses… that they refuse to explain. Which has caused that more than 50% of the students have had to get into debt with their banks to be able to attend the University).

And, well, thats the thing. Because of that, No one is atending the classes since a couple of weeks ago to make some reseach and ploting… and, well, that give me some free time (Yei~).

Also, i made a post (in Spanish) explaining all this, but I think this was a good summary. Here the post anyway.

Eh?…… What is he doing?

I feel like I could hear what the entire audience was thinking.

Even those who support Durf seemed to be dumbfounded with their jaws dropped in surprise.

Then, the flames that tormented Stalin disappeared.

Stalin tore off his burned armor and stood up.

Although it was fire resistant, it seems that there is still a limit to everything it can withstand.

The high-quality armor has worn to the point that it wasn’t even a shadow of what it once was.

With this, our combat has finally been matched.

But, my enemy may still have the advantage.

「Re-Regis! What are you doing !?」

「………」

Shadiberga yelled that confused.

Wokins didn’t seem to have any changes, and just calmly clasped her hands together.

Stalin picked up his sword.

At that moment, the other Stalin’s voice echoed in my brain.

(… Do not resist. When your life comes to an end, I will return the knife to your Father)

A~ah, is that so?

He intends to threaten me with the knife until I die.

When we finished our conversation, the other Stalin lunged at me with his sword.

I recive that attack without even trying to avoid it.

I received a big cut on my left side after taking that powerful hit.

「… Ga, uh」

It’s hot.

I feel like that blow has burned my nerves.

However, thas isn’t enough to make me succumb.

Immediately afterwards I stood up again.

Seeing me, Stalin raised his sword again.

「… This is the end. Descend to the depths of the underworld, Fallen Noble」

Then, he crossed his swords and started chanting.

It was a magic that I definitely shouldn’t receive.

I felt my eyes begin to be flooded with a feeling of despair.

「Flash of the horrible prison that drove me to madness.

That that dark and unpleasant god inhabits my swords―― 『Chaos ・ Stroke』」

Stalin’s body began to distort.

I tried to focus my gaze.

However, I didn’t have enough strength to clear my sight.

Everything feels almost like a mirage that will go away when I try to grab it.

Stalin was about to attack me.

However, I didn’t try to resist.

If I tried, this would all have been a waste.

He calmly point his swords against my neck.

I still didn’t want to lose my life, so I tried to evade it.

However, it wasn’t something that could simply evade.

I think even an expert mercenary couldn’t see through that attack.

And I, who hardly have any experience with some hand-to-hand combat, could never avoid it.

The longsword cuts through my collarbone.

The sharp pain I felt at the time could not be compared to the previous blow.

Unable to bear it, I ended up letting out a horrible moan from the bottom of my throat.

「… G-Guah」

I fell to the floor.

However, I quickly tried to get on my knees.

But, his sword was already waiting for me.

I will be killed.

Then, at the moment I felt that this would be my end――

「Seiaaaaaaaaa!」

It was like the roar of a mad dog.

It was loud enough to take 100 years of sleep away.

That voice didn’t come from the arena where we were fighting.

The origin of that loud voice was――

「Edgar Kristanval, at your service!」

At the same time, accompanying that voice, the sound of something being crushed resonated throughout the arena.

Four rows of seats in the audience seemed to have been destroyed, and the surrounding people began to scream in terror.

A few intruder had suddenly broken the silence in that place.

The Assassin who had infiltrated my house and stole Sefina’s knife was one of them.

He had been sent to fly throughout the auditorium.

But he was quick in resuming his posture.

The moment he stood up on the audit, he looked at Edgar.

「… Tsk, a surprise attack」

「You, who tried to kill us, don’t have the right to complain about this」

「… You, can’t you see this knife?」

「Ooh, yes, it is a beautiful knife. Very similar to the one I have here」

Edgar smiled provocatively.

In her hands was a knife with some striking decorations.

Then, calmly, Edgar hid the knife in his clothes.

Seeing that, the assassin’s eyes widened.

「… I-Impossible. But if the knife should be――」

The knife he had been holding until just a moment ago was gone.

I didn’t even notice when it disappeared.

Or at least that’s what he should be thinking.

Impatiently, he check his hands to confirm that the knife was there.

However, the Jirginus’s knife was still there.

At that moment, a small shadow appeared in front of the assassin.

「Thank you for looking away」

She said in a cold voice capable of shaking the atmosphere of the place.

Edgar buried her knife in the killer’s body with all her might.

The killer freaked out for a moment.

Of course, he couldn’t avoid it.

A sharp knife had been buried deep in his right shoulder.

「…. Guh! Bi-Bitch!」

However, he was already used to pain.

The assassin, who’s face distorted with pain, removed the knife from his shoulder.

Having that kind of wound was fatal for those who fought in a two-sword style.

It was the cheap knife that Regis bought when he arrived to the Kingdom.

Ignoring the absence of the House Jirginus emblem, both knives looked very similar.

He’d given it to Edgar before so It could give her that chance.

「This isn’t over yet. Here I go!」

Edgar drew her sword straight.

In response, the Assassin silently unsheathed his knife.

Side by side, right and left.

It was exactly the same as the time he attacked Shadiberga.

He should have had his right shoulder injured, however, he didn’t seem to mind that.

He simply watched Edgar with his guard up.

「… Did you think you could win? What an idiot, as if I’m going to lose against someone who was surpassed by my brother」

「Ho~o, does that mean that you’re stronger than your brother?」

「… Of course. I was supposed to have been the official representative in this duel.

However, I decide to leave it to my brother because of an injury, that’s all」

Said the Assassin.

Stalin was still holding his sword against my neck.

It seems that his true strength is greater than that of this Stalin.

Incidentally, at this moment, Stalin was simply silently looking towards the seats among the audience.

I wonder if it’s because he thinks he can kill me whenever he pleases.

He simply watched towards the audience seats as he thrust his sword against my neck.

「… It seems that someone has interfered.

But just look, my brother will crush all your hopes」

Aah, that’s why.

Since the reinforcements have arrived, my morale has increased.

So, does he just want me to savor the hope of being about to be saved?

He is surely waiting to enjoy watching how I fall into despair after seeing how that fails before killing me.

His brother will not lose against Edgar.

I guess that’s what he’s thinking.

That trust is surely something that was born out of your past accomplishments.

The Stalin brothers.

Even if the younger brother is defeated, the older brother is still around, even if the older brother is defeated, the younger brother will take revenge.

My body knew how dangerous that kind of cooperation was.

The seats of the nobility were still shrouded in chaos.

The nobles trying to escape from those two were pushing each other.

They looked like insects trying to escape the web of a spider.

Where were the Nobles who only knew how to boast of their greatness?

Edgar also seemed to be thinking the same thing.

She just laughed as she watched what was happening around her.

Then, Edgar looked at the assassin with an intimidating look.

「Alright, shall we have a mach?」

「I already told you.

I don’t plan to waste time with an opponent who couldn’t even rival my brother」

「Say whatever you want.

Also, who said I was been serious when we fought in that basement?

I was not in my best condition at the time―― However, this time I am serious」

「…. *fumu* Then, show me」

The Assassin approached with quick movements.

Then he swung his knife with his injured right arm.

Edgar avoided his attack and then stepped back to take distance.

The Assassin charged back at her.

However, before he could reach her, Edgar managed to activate her magic.

「May my sword burst into flames and pierce the sky.

Be wrapped by this blazing crimson flame―― 『Enchant•Fire』!」

At that moment, blast-like flames engulfed her straight sword.

Since Edgar is quite good with fire magic, she managed to cause a column of fire to erupt from her sword.

Her frantic gaze soon became more violent.

When she used this magic before, she was using a straight sword that almost looked like a staff due to its small size.

The time we faced Stalin she was also using the same weapon.

But now it was different.

At this time, Edgar was using a great straight sword.

It was something she used to wield in her days as a mercenary.

She was able to move her sword so freely that it almost seemed like just another part of her body.

What a ridiculous strength.

Are you remembering your time as a mercenary?

Edgar was smiling nostalgically.

On the other hand, the Assassin spoke in a burlesque tone.

「… What a terrible joke. No matter how much you’re weapon appearance change, your attack power won’t increase enough」

「It may be, but here comes another even more enchanting magic――」

「… What?」

Edgar swung her sword.

An intimidating feeling accompanied her sheet.

Taking advantage of that moment, she begin to chant the spell.

「Come, Fire God, and listen to the Defender’s plea.

Give my sword the power to decimate all evil―― 『Holy Burster』 aaaaaaah!」

All the flames that were previously released were now absorbed by her sword.

The sword that until just a moment ago had been enveloped in a pillar of flame now glowed with a fiery red.

Before, her greatsword seemed to be emanating some incredibly intense calling.

But now, it looked like a sacred treasure made of red jewels.

Edgar’s figure had begun to emanate a mysterious sensation, which could cause me to mistake her for a fiery spirit.

Spectators who saw that began to flee even more terrified than they had been before.

At the center of it all was Edgar, full of fighting spirit.

「Here I go, it’s time for you to disappear」

「You bitch, for you to have released that much of flames ――」

Flames emanated from her great sword.

It was so bright that I thought my eyes would hurt just to see it.

The Assassin unconsciously stepped back.

However, Edgar was faster.

In a single instant, she closed the distance that separated them and swept the floor with her great sword using one hand.

The Assassin tried to defend himself with his knife.

However, that wasn’t enough to protect him from that.

The Assassin’s knives were easily melted, and unable to stop the greatsword, they left the way open for Edgar to strike directly at the Assassin’s body with her greatsword.

Then―― an explosion shaked the whole arena.

「… G-Guuooaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!」

The upper body of the assassin was slashed.

He was probably wearing the same heat resistant armour than this Stalin.

However, that same armor was burned without a trace and leaving the Assassin’s skin completely exposed.

It seemed that he had barely survived that attack.

However, he was trapped between the burning audience seats.

But still, even after that last attack, he was able to survive.

I must say that his strength is truly terrifying.

However, victory or defeat is not yet decided.

Edgar, who had launched such a powerful attack, was clearly tired.

So, after letting out a sigh, she look at the assassin.

「… I have cut your tendons.

You will no longer be able to work as an assassin. We tried to kill each other, so don’t hold a grudge, okay?」

Then, she canceled her magic and sheathed her sword.

After that she approached the Assassin and picked up a knife.

It was a beautifully decorated knife.

It was also the symbol of the union between House of Jirginus and House of Din.

After retrieving it, Edgar turned to me and exclaimed.

「――That guy is the only one left! Beat him, Regis!」

Those were words of encouragement.

That’s right, I don’t need to hold back anymore.

I firmly squeeze my knife.

At that moment, I could feel the metal next to my neck.

At the same time, I could hear an annoyed whisper above my head.

「… Tsk, so useless.

I don’t even want to think that I was born from the same womb as that piece of garbage」

「……」

「… It doesn’t matter.

After killing you, it will be my victory. This time you will be dead, brat」

「Hey, you」

I suddenly opened my mouth.

What did he just say?

Even I, who wasn’t comfortable relating to others, was upset when I heard his words.

I can’t bear to hear that kind of word.

Hearing me, Stalin bowed his head.

「… What? Do you want to say your last words?」

「I just wanted you to tell me something. What does family mean to you?」

「… Just one more person.

In simple terms, someone you live with just because you have similar interests」

「You are a very superficial bastard, aren’t you?」

「… *Fun*. What do you mean?」

Stalin frowned.

He doesn’t seem to understand the reason for my words.

Even I, who lived as nothing but despicable trash in my previous life, was aware of the importance of my own family.

But what about you, Stalin?

I look directly at that tall, silent fellow, and in a cold voice I said.

「I have nothing else to say.

It’s just that, no matter how much I think about it, you and I are completely incompatible」

I remembered my sister’s face.

Someone I love.

Someone for whom even someone like me would try to seem a little more dignified.

Someone I won’t even be able to see again since I died.

I don’t want to feel that unpleasant feeling of loss for not being able to see someone I love ever again.

「――That is why I will defeat you and protect my family」

「… If so, feel free to believe in that fantasy while being impaled by my sword」

「Do you think you can hit me with that sword?」

「… What?」

Stalin looked at me full of doubts.

Astral Fire had already vanished and I was about to be killed.

But to tell the truth, this guy should have killed me when he had the chance.

He shouldn’t have been distracted watching the fight between his brother and Edgar so calmly, instead he should have stabbed me on the spot.

Just take a look.

Even though we were fighting in a place where the intensity of the fire was lighter, the Cross Blast flames were still burning.

These flames did not cause any inconvenience to him, however, they were just what I needed.

I’ve been very soft so far, I think it’s about time I showed my fangs.

I took a step to the side.

Noticing it, Stalin swung his great sword.

At that instant, I bowed my knees a little and evaded his attack by moving to the side.

Then, Stalin’s sword wound up passing me by overhead, with just a small gap in between.

「… What!?」

「It’s the heat haze produced by the suffocated air. When it gets very hot, it’s easier for it to reflect light」

I took distance from his sword and took a fighting stance once again with my knife.

Do you think you can hit me with that sword in this burning arena?

At least, I don’t think he’ll be able to hit me as long as I keep moving.

Even my knife won’t be as effective in this place.

Even if I manage to hit him, it surely won’t cause more than scratches to him.

I can’t hit him at some vital point either.

I doubt that that kind of wouldn’t be enough to defeat him.

So, from now on I will no longer fight with my knife.

I use Cross Blast to restrict his movements and keep him within my reach.

Well, the time has come.

It is the moment to activate the magic that will decide this duel.

「You could die if I hit a bad spot, so you’d better defend yourself」

「…. Enough, stop with this bullshit!」

Stalin tried to close the distance between us.

However, he was forced to stop when he was blocked by the flames.

While watching it, I had begun to squeeze out the magical power that was left in my body.

After gathering the remaining magical power, I cast my magic.

「You, falling polar star, that crush the heavens and earth with your devastating blow.

Pierce the core of the world―― 『Meteor Breaker』!」

Due to the wind pressure, the flames were becoming even more intense.

Right now, I was consuming all of my magic power to use this spell.

It was the same type of magic that Edgar and this guy use, 『Enchantment Magic』.

What’s more, this particular spell was one of those that came within the 『Master Edition』, making it incredibly difficult to master.

During my training, not only did I end up quickly consuming my magic power, but I even ended up suffering from severe muscle pain due to rebound.

If not for repeating it over and over, it would have been impossible for me to master.

To master it, I had to endure enough pain to make me collapse.

To tell the truth, there were several times in which I ended up losing consciousness due to the intensity of the pain.

I’ve already lost count of all the times I’ve been on the verge of death during my training with Wokins.

Even those specialized in enchantment magic seem to avoid using this spell.

If I hadn’t mastered it yesterday, today, during the duel, I would have had to endure an absurd amount of pain just to use it.

It was good that I did it on time.

This magic strengthens the power of the user’s body on an abnormal level.

It converts all magic power into force and unloads it all in one fell swoop.

Because of that, there is a risk of being seriously injured when using it.

It’s something really absurd if I must say it.

But still, this is exactly why this magic is perfect for me.

「――With this, I will defeat you!」

My tongue was stuck.

My arms were numb.

It felt like my head was on the verge of splitting in two, as if my stomach had been flipped and I had been used as a punching bag.

Hearing that some of those who used this magic ended up dying from the rebound after using it.

However, it is nothing compared to that disease.

This was nothing compared to what I had suffered through in my previous life.

After successfully activating this magic, I turned to Stalin.

I was surprised at how much he had opened his eyes.

「… You, shouldn’t be able to――」

「Here I go, don’t move」

「… Kuh」

Stalin tried to escape.

However, the flames had risen enough to completely block his escape route.

He looked from right to left looking for an opening to escape, but all he could find was a sea of flames.

I gathered some magic power and cast Cross Blast again.

Although I can’t say I have much magic power left, it’s still enough to cover the remaining openings in this sea of flames.

He was surrounded by flames.

There was no place you escaped to.

After understanding that, Stalin gave up escaping and turned to me.

Then, I slowly began to get closer to him while gathering my magic power.

Stalin’s face twitched as he noticed me approaching.

Would it have been a premonition of his imminent death?

He seemed to be able to instinctively feel that he was about to die.

His body had already started shaking from the terror he felt.

「You can’t move huh. Not long ago I couldn’t do it either. It’s funny how our positions changed」

「…. D-Don’t get any close」

「This is a good opportunity. I can return all the damage you and your master caused at the same time」

「… Stoooooop!」

Stalin yelled desperately.

Not knowing what else to do, he decided to attack me earlier.

He lift his great sword above his head and try to end my life.

On the other hand, I pushed my knife towards him.

Point my knife directly at his abdomen.

On the other hand, he was about to cut my chest with his sword.

It’s time.

At that moment, unleash all the power that had accumulated with Meteor Breaker in one go.

「――Take this!

Meteor, Breakeeeeeeeeer!」

I put all my strength into my knife and swung it forward.

Then Stalin was lifted up into the air.

At the same time, the raging flames burning in the sand engulfed his body.

Stalin was raised only with a knife.

However, even after being pierced by my knife and engulfed in flames, he still seemed to slightly retain his consciousness.

He even tried to scrape my cheeks with his sword.

However, he had no strength left so it was nothing more than a futile effort.

That was his last attempt to attack.

I looked at Durf.

My faces was distorted by a pain severe enough to make me think I was going to die anytime now.

However, I wonder what it would look like in his eyes.

Durf, in his seat in the audience, was trembling in terror.

“What am I going to do now?”

Surely that is what you are thinking.

Then he scream in terror.

「S-Stop, I told you to stop!」

「Stop what?」

「I’ll admit my defeat, so stop right away!」

「… Do you think I’m going to allow that?」

I replied coldly.

Then, as his body shook unpleasantly, Durf screamed in a high-pitched voice.

「…Fine! I understand! I’ll give up on Wokins!

I don’t care what you do with that piece trash. So――」

「Shut up. It is too late for you to say that.

You caused my father some painful injuries.

You made Wokins pass an unpleasant moment.

You destroyed Edgar’s store.

And you have seriously exhausted my patience――」

Then, I cut my words momentarily.

Immediately after, I took a dep breath to prepare for my next words.

At that moment, I gathered all the anger I had held up inside me until now and yelled with all my might.

「―― I’ll make you pay for all that, you filthy hoooooooooooog!」

「N-Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!」

Durf fell from his seat into the audience.

He looked around in panic to seek help from his attendants, but they had all run away.

There was no one left around him.

That confidence and companions that he obtained with his money and power are too fragile.

No one thinks to help you when you screw up.

He should have understood that.

Still, he raised his hand against us.

「Uuooooooooooooooooooo!」

I stomped my foot down with all my might.

Some cracks began to expand on the floor due to the strong impact.

I give Stalin a final blow.

Then, with him still impaled on my knife, I started running.

Then, I use the centrifugal force and throw him.

His shadow rose high enough to obstruct the shadow of the sun.

Stalin, who was sent to fly, even seemed capable of being absorbed into the sky.

He kept flying towards a certain place.

So is. I sent it directly to where Durf was sitting among the spectators.

Stalin, who was sent to fly, was about to fall over him.

Seeing his Assassin fly directly towards him, the hog screamed――

「Hiiiiiiiih, gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!」

A crushing sound loud enough to shake the whole arena could be heard accompanied by that unpleasant scream.

The auditorium creaked and the surroundings were covered in dust.

The spectators that were around also caused a great fuss.

The nearby nobles didn’t even scream, they just held their breath.

They didn’t seem to be able to believe what had just happened.

When the dust dispersed, a miserable scene could be seen.

Stalin, who had landed in the auditorium, looked like a squashed bug.

It seems that he is still alive.

However, ribs and lungs were surely crushed.

He didn’t seem to be able to move while vomiting blood.

However, Durf seemed to be in worse shape.

After being hit by Stalin, who was flying at high speed, he ended up trapped in all the rubble.

He just lay on the ground, with his broken bones.

But, it seems that he was still alive, although now he looks like nothing more than a misshapen mass of meat.

However, that fat ball was the one who caused all of this in the first place.

Still, when Stalin crashed into him, his body was still engulfed in flames.

Although he passed out, his body was still burning with flames.

The arena staff did not take long to bring buckets of water to put out the fire, however he ended up suffering considerable burns.

His ugly face had been horribly deformed.

But, I don’t feel anything in particular about that.

This is nothing more than the result of his bad decisions.

It is an adequate punishment for Durf, who had only been conspiring against us.

Still, I still have something to say to that fat meat-ball.

I looked at him lying in the auditorium and calmly said.

「Carve that wound into your body for the rest of your life.

Let it remind you what happened today the next time you try committing something funny.

Remember thar in this world, there are some people whom you shouldn’t opposed to」

Then, after saying that, the Witness who had evacuated from the arena returned.

Stalin was unable to continue fighting while I remained standing.

After seeing that, she said out loud.

「The Hogos House’s Representative is incapable to continue fighting.

Considering that the Din House’s Representative does not have the intention to pursue as well, I declare that this duel as ended according to the Article 19 of the Supplementary Laws of the Duel.

Due the Hogos House’s Representative inability to continue the fight, I declare House of Din as the winner of this Duel!」

At that moment.

A wave of screams of anger and joy flooded the sand.

The highest-ranking Nobles who received favors from Durf were angry.

On the other side, the neighboring Nobles who were abused by Durf did not stop celebrating.

I felt strange receiving such shouts of praise and appreciation from them.

Then I looked at Edgar.

When she noticed my gaze, she raised her thumb at me.

She look tired, however, doesn’t seems to have received any serious injuries.

I returned a smile before turning and looking at Shadiberga.

When Shadiberga noticed me, he said nothing and just nodded.

It seems that he believed in me.

Next to him, Wokins was smiling at me with some tears in her eyes.

That enchantment magic was taught to me by her.

It would have been dangerous if I didn’t have it.

Wokins proudly agreed when I asked her to teach it to me in just 3 days.

I nodded in response to her shy gaze.

And finally, look at the sky.

An infinite sky was reflected before my eyes.

Whenever I look at it, it seems to be within my reach, but even so, it is actually very far away.

I took out my knife and raised it to the sky.

My knife emitted a dazzling sheen when it caught the rays of the sun.

It had a silver sword and a gold shield engraved on it.

It was our coat of arms.

With confidence, raise my knife even higher.

I wanted all the Nobles to see it.

I wanted them to know that even a Fallen Noble like me could be victorious.

The reflected light illuminated the entire battlefield.

Needless to say what was the source of that shine.

I slowly look at the hilt of the knife.

There was the Emblem of Din, which was shining brilliantly there, as if it promised us prosperity in the future.
