LV1-1:

Gluttony Type — When the cells of an organism become highly active, they begin to produce a large amount of exotic energy. Since all the nutrients in the body are used to produce this exotic energy, an unparalleled hunger is felt, requiring a large amount of food. At this stage, the evolved organism will search for food everywhere, eating anything, entering a gluttony phase.

“Woolf!” Bai Yi didn't spend much time before finding Woolf, who was eating while directing the staff.

“Bai Yi, why are you here?”

Bai Yi first glanced at the ingredient warehouse, which was still more than half full. However, at this selling speed, it wouldn't last long. Originally, Bai Yi just wanted to buy more ingredients to eat until he was full, but now, seeing the bustling and strange scene in the ingredient market, he felt he should make plans early. After signaling Woolf to put down what he was holding, the two went to a separate small room.

“Woolf, don't you feel something is off?” Bai Yi got straight to the point.

“What's off?”

“Don't you feel extremely hungry, no matter how much you eat?”

“I haven't really noticed, but I do get hungry faster.”

“Listen, Woolf. I've been cooking and eating all afternoon, but I can't get full. At first, I thought it was just me and my daughter, but now it's clearly not. Don't you think the situation in the ingredient market is too strange? Everyone is incredibly hungry.” Bai Yi explained.

“What do you mean?”

“Stop selling ingredients. The situation is very strange. At this level of hunger and appetite, the ingredients in the market will run out very quickly.”

“Hahaha, Bai Yi, you're worrying too much. The Voster ingredient market is huge, and even if it runs out, I can get more from the neighboring market.” Woolf laughed loudly, thinking Bai Yi was overthinking.

“What if the neighboring market is in the same situation, or even the entire Hamilton, or even all of New Zealand?” Bai Yi didn't laugh, speaking with utmost seriousness. Woolf, who was still laughing, gradually stopped when he saw Bai Yi's expression. No way.

“I'll call and check.” Woolf said.

Bai Yi nodded. Although Woolf's business wasn't huge, he was well-informed about ingredients. Soon, Woolf received news from other sources: not just the Voster ingredient market, but almost all of New Zealand, everyone suddenly felt an overwhelming hunger, leading to a frenzy of ingredient purchases.

Damn, Bai Yi's guess was actually right!

Bai Yi could see from Woolf's expression that his guess had become reality.

“I'll go tell the staff to stop selling.”

“Wait!” Bai Yi held back Woolf. “If you stop selling immediately, there will definitely be conflicts with customers. Raise the prices, reduce the amount of ingredients shipped out, and create the illusion that there are few ingredients left. Then tell the customers that the ingredients are sold out.” Bai Yi said to Woolf.

“Bai, you're a sly one!” Woolf immediately gave a thumbs up after hearing this.

“Sorry, it's selling too well. Our ingredients are out of stock. If you want to buy ingredients, please go to other stores.” The store quickly followed Bai Yi's advice. Although the customers were dissatisfied, they had no choice but to leave when told there were no ingredients left.

“Bai Yi, do you know what's happening?” Woolf asked.

“I have no idea. I was just trying to buy more ingredients because I couldn't get full, and then I found this out. Forget it, where's the kitchen? I'm starving.” Bai Yi said to Woolf. Woolf knew Bai Yi wanted to fill his stomach, and since their relationship was already good, plus Bai Yi's earlier warning, this small favor was no problem.

...

This meal preparation kept them busy until past midnight. During this time, they never felt full, or even if they did, their stomachs would start growling again in less than an hour. Meanwhile, the ingredient market had shifted from bustling to uneasy, with everyone feeling terrified by the sudden hunger and appetite.

A typical household's food reserve lasts about a week to a month, but with this crazy appetite and hunger, it would be gone in less than a day. What would people eat after their reserves were gone? More importantly, it wasn't just humans who were hungry; animals were too... yes, animals!

Animals, unlike humans, have little food reserve. What would they eat after their reserves were gone?

The internet was full of discussions about this abnormal appetite and hunger, but there was no clear answer. Ordinary people had no idea what was happening. At this moment, a live news report flashed on Woolf's computer, showing people rioting over ingredients due to extreme hunger, causing significant casualties. Besides humans, animals played a significant role. A group of rats, red-eyed with hunger, started climbing onto people and eating them.

Bai Yi and Woolf looked at each other in shock as they watched the news. The sight of several people being covered in rats, screaming as they fell to the ground, sent chills down their spines.

“Ah, help, help!” Suddenly, a scream came from outside.

Woolf immediately rushed out, while Bai Yi grabbed a bone cleaver. By now, Bai Yi's unease had grown. Even four-year-old Momo could sense the unusual atmosphere.

As soon as Bai Yi came out, he saw two large dogs from somewhere unknown pouncing on an employee, tearing at him wildly. Nearby, a pot had been knocked over, spilling oil and meat on the ground.

Dogs have the keenest sense of smell. These two dogs were clearly starving, so they followed the scent of food here. However, the employees clearly had no intention of feeding them and tried to drive them away. But they didn't expect that these usually loyal dogs would bite them. No, not just bite... Bai Yi clearly saw one of the dogs tear a large chunk of flesh from the employee's thigh and swallow it.

They were actually eating a person!

“Shapi, protect Momo!” Bai Yi immediately told Shapi.

Seeing the two dogs biting his employee, Woolf was horrified. This could be fatal. Grabbing a nearby stick, Woolf struck hard, but the dog that was hit quickly jumped away, growling. Suddenly, the dog pounced on Woolf, its mouth still dripping with fresh blood.

Woolf was completely stunned. He hadn't adjusted from his usual mindset. How vicious, not a dog at all, more like a wolf. Seeing Woolf's state, Bai Yi knew if the dog bit him, it would be fatal. The dog's attack was aimed at his neck.

Caught off guard, Bai Yi suddenly pushed Woolf aside and raised the bone cleaver.

In a split second, no one saw what happened. The dog's two front legs were chopped off, and a deep cut was made in its neck, splattering blood on both Bai Yi and Woolf. This sudden turn of events stunned everyone in the small yard. After a moment, the other dog released the employee, growling and facing off against Bai Yi.

“Woof!” Suddenly, the remaining dog pounced, aiming to bite Bai Yi.

In that instant, Bai Yi became extremely calm, his grip on the cleaver steady. The dog, in Bai Yi's mind, was just another ingredient to be processed. Three quick, not particularly flashy cuts, and the dog met the same fate as its companion, collapsing on the ground.

Woolf, shocked, fell to the ground, still in a daze.

Before he could recover, another fierce dog bark rang out, making Woolf shudder. Turning around, he saw that Shapi, the dog Bai Yi had brought, had pounced and smashed a rat, nearly twenty centimeters long, into the ground. In the shadows, other red-eyed rats seemed to be eyeing the blood and flesh hungrily.

Shapi, body slightly lowered, stood guard beside Momo, baring sharp teeth and growling fiercely.

At this moment, Shapi didn't look like the usual clumsy dog but was equally fierce. This sight shocked Woolf again. Is this a dog? Although Shapi was brought by Bai Yi, what if it acted like the other two dogs? The rats, intimidated by Shapi's presence, retreated and quickly disappeared. There were plenty of ingredients in the market; they didn't need to fight here.

After the rats were gone, the people in the small yard realized what had happened.

Originally, there were three employees in the yard, but now everyone was injured, especially the one who was first pounced on by the two dogs, who was now lifeless.

“A death...!” Woolf was dazed.

“Don't worry about that now. Bandage the wounds. Do you want to die? Is there any rabies vaccine here?” Bai Yi, seeing Woolf's state, reminded him. After Bai Yi's words, Woolf and the other two employees noticed the burning pain of their wounds.

“Oh, right, right. Bandage the wounds first. We'll explain to the police later. This wasn't my doing.” Woolf, holding his bloody shoulder, said. The two employees went to the back room to find bandaging materials, being extremely cautious as they passed Shapi, still shaken by the two large dogs.

“Bai Yi, I didn't expect you to be so skilled. Is that Chinese kung fu?” Woolf, a carefree guy, thought of Bai Yi's actions after calming down.

“NO!”

“It's not Chinese kung fu. I just know the anatomy and weak points of dogs from processing a lot of ingredients. I treated those two dogs as ingredients to be processed.” Bai Yi explained. This explanation, however, left Woolf even more stunned.
