When I returned to the village, Gorga, the leader of the Golem tribe, came over.
"Crest, the outer wall adjustments are finished. Can you check them out?"
"Sure, I understand. Well, both of you, see you later."
"Yes, please do your best."
"If anything comes up, let us know anytime."
After saying goodbye to Elise and Revia, I headed to the outer wall with Gorga. The Golems are skilled in stone processing.
We've had them build the outer wall and construct stone buildings, and we've been quite dependent on them.
Especially now, they are building a sturdy outer wall to protect the village from external enemies. It was initially built simply to prevent wild monsters from entering, but now it has a solid gate and is even more robust than what we saw in the Ogres' village.
"How is it?"
"It's much sturdier than I expected. It looks even more impressive than when we were in the Ogres' village."
When I asked for confirmation, Gorga smiled.
"Maybe so. ...Ever since you gave me a demon name, I've felt a surge of power."
...I see.
Thanks to my summoner's power, I can give names to monsters, known as demon names. By giving them these names, I can enhance their abilities.
In terms of stats, there's a potential for a 1.5 times increase, so I've been doing it actively. It seems to also enhance their racial abilities. The wall is about five meters high.
"How did you manage to build to that height?"
Gorga is quite tall, but it's still out of reach.
"We had Katrina and the others make the trees grow and used them as scaffolding."
"I see..."
It's reassuring to know that they can work together effectively. As I looked up, I saw something flying around.
"Can you walk on top of the outer wall?"
"Yeah, there's a patrol walkway. It's designed to allow access to the top, and we've even built a small hut up there where the guards can rest."
Gorga pointed to a part of a pillar. Indeed, there was a door, and it was designed to allow entry.
"Can I take a look?"
"Of course. I'll show you."
I was getting a bit excited. It felt like I was entering a secret base. Following Gorga's lead, I entered through the door and found chairs and a table inside.
"Basically, we made sure you can take breaks here too."
"...I see."
I've been to castles before and have seen similar setups, but I didn't expect to see something like this in the lower world. From there, a ladder continued upward.
"Did the Dryad people build this?"
In response to my question, Gorga nodded slowly.
"Yes. It's very sturdy, so you can rest assured."
I hooked my feet into the scaffolding embedded in the wall and used my hands to climb up. Of course, falling would be dangerous, but neither Gorga nor I felt any movement as we climbed. The Dryads are truly impressive.
Magic stones were embedded at intervals along the ladder. The interior was dark, but the magic stones emitted a faint light, making it possible to see the surroundings.
This was likely made by the Vampires. They seem to work well together, probably because they were originally from the Ogres' village. As I thought about this, I could see the top.
The faint light served as a guide, and I climbed the ladder to the top. I put my feet down and looked around. There were beds and other furnishings, making it a place where one could rest properly.
"I plan to let the guards use this freely. Is that okay?"
"...I see. I think it's a good idea."
Gorga smiled, looking relieved. The children we saved from the Ogres' village sometimes hesitate to express their opinions, perhaps due to the poor treatment they received.
I want them to be more open, but it might take some time.
"Basically, the Vampires prefer to be active at night, so it would be good to assign them the job of patrolling, including guard duty."
"Yeah... They did say they don't like sunlight."
"Exactly. That's why the Vampires are so active now."
Gorga pointed to the side connected to the outside. The door was open, so it was clearly visible. As Gorga said, the Vampires were currently working.
