After leaving the game world through the exit, You Xi returned to his office where he was involved with the game while sleeping at his desk before.
Turning on the computer, You Xi saw that the time was still 2 o’clock in the afternoon on April 4th. The cheerful Qingming Festival 1email was still unread in his inbox.
You X was still wearing the school uniform from the Blessed Marriage instance, and the reward item was still in his pocket. He took the heavy object out and analyzed it closely. He found that no matter which angle he viewed it from, it was still just an ordinary stone.
You Xi: “……” It seems like a trick.
You Xi tried to open the game interface, and everything went well. He could even watch his livestream. However, the space pocket was closed, and it seemed that he couldn’t add supplies from outside the game.
You Xi leaned back in his chair to watch the livestream. There were lots of fruits on his desk, so he peeled a banana and ate it as he watched.
“Director You.” As he watched, his assistant’s knock suddenly sounded outside his office door. “Director Zhou from Yuxin Construction Company called for you. He said he made an in-person appointment with you.”
You Xi hurriedly closed the livestream. “Alright. Please give me the phone.”
The assistant opened the door and saw that the rich third generation had changed into a high school uniform at some point. The assistant didn’t dare expose and emotions on the surface, but couldn’t help but complain.
Director You was really becoming more and more unreliable. He wasn’t serious and only came to the company for fun.
The game company was gifted to him by his father for his 20th birthday. His father was a rich second gen who didn’t work and had no economic sensibility, but firmly believed that professional matters should be handled by professional people. After hiring an experienced manager, he waved his hands and continued eating, drinking, and playing.
After over ten years, although the family’s business wasn’t as prosperous as it used to be, it was still doing well. You Xi inherited his father’s share of Xiaoyao Daoxue. After he inherited the company, he didn’t randomly interfere. He only remembered it from time to time and then went to the company for a while.
Because he wasn’t ordering things blindly, everything was going well.
You Xi answered the call; the other party was Zhou Yu. The two agreed to meet at Jiang Pan Country Club in City A in two hours.
After the assistant stepped back, You Xi removed his school uniform and hung it in his office closet. He picked out a casual outfit and prepared to leave.
But as he shut the closet door, You Xi was stunned. The school uniform he hung in the closet had somehow turned into his original shirt and pants.
So the clothes hadn’t actually been replaced by the game, they’d just been covered up?
You Xi thought deeply.
Two hours later, he met smoothly with Zhou Yu. Zhou Yu was dressed very formally with shiny hair and chocolate-colored skin, making him look unique.
Both of them were members of the Jiang Pan Country Club. Zhou Yu had arranged a box in advance. After the two settled down, he got straight to the point and answered You Xi’s questions in detail.
“Let’s start with the Blessed Marriage instance.” Zhou Yu said. “Generally speaking, the greater a ghost’s power in an instance, the higher their status. The principal should be the boss, so why was the alien boss just a normal teacher?”
Zhou Yu paused after speaking, then deliberately lowered his voice.
“Because of alien politics. The rule is incorrect.”
Where there were people, there were politics. In the escape game, the correct political position was to listen to the system’s guidance. However, the alien teacher violated the balance of yin and yang and secretly did something that wasn’t conducive to the game system. So, although he was much stronger than the Chainsaw Freak, he wasn’t the principal.
You Xi raised his eyebrows. That was somewhat interesting.
“The system can kill ghosts honestly, but the requirement is that there must be definite evidence that the ghosts are traitors or did something wrong.” Zhou Yu lit a cigarette and spoke through the smoke. “But sometimes, the system doesn’t have a way to punish the rebellious ghosts and monsters, so they can only use the players’ hands to achieve their goal.”
“Why is Qin Yuandai an S-Level player? Along with his strong qualifications, the game more importantly needed a knife to help it exterminate dissidents.”
“In the past, I was fortunate enough to encounter 002, but he hasn’t played games in a long time.” Zhou Yu said. “Many people speculate that 002 retired and became an executive of the game. It’s very likely that 002 is working behind the scenes in the game’s live broadcasting rooms.”
“So, 003, you’ve appeared in this game as an S-Level player. There are only three possibilities.”
“First, Qin Yuandai needs a successor. The people behind the game gave him more important things to do.”
“Second, Qin Yuandai violated the interests of the people behind the game and is about to face a disaster. The game is specially training you so it always has a knife available.”
“Third, you came to this game with another mission.”
“According to my inference, the third possibility is the most likely.” Zhou Yu said. “After all, if it was to find a successor for Qin Yuandai, Liu Yu is obviously more suitable than you. If Qin Yuandai needed to be eliminated, there was no need for the game to arrange for you two to develop a revolutionary friendship.”
Zhou Yu groaned: “But we haven’t researched enough to understand what the game really needs you to do. You can pay more attention to it. If you learn it before we do, you can also sell the information to us. The price can be discussed in the details.”
You Xi understood then. He was labeled an S-Level player and it wasn’t just a misunderstanding.
It’s just that, other than his exceptional good looks and deeper love for games than an average person, he didn’t seem to have any special qualities.
The game chose him, what was the reason?
Zhou Yu handed You Xi a business card, telling him that he could call him any time as needed. The business card was of a high-quality texture and had a string of words written on it:
“Sheng Zhilian Alliance.
Founder: Miss Hei Zhenzhu.
Group A Leader: Zhou Yu.
Contact Details: 130xxx.”
Miss Hei Zhenzhu’s name was familiar to You Xi. Wasn’t the shop where Jiang Jiang worked named after her?
You Xi thanked Zhou Yu and asked who Miss Hei Zhenzhu was.
Zhou Yu kept it secret. Unless You Xi joined the Sheng Zhilian Alliance, Miss Hei Zhenzhu’s identity couldn’t be revealed to him.
You Xi didn’t want to join. He felt that although this Zhilian group had a lot of information, it was like a cult. You Xi didn’t want to join that kind of group so rashly. He felt that it was easy to get in, but hard to get out.
“There is one more thing I’d like to ask. If a player is terminally ill in real life and enters the first aid area of the game, can they be cured?” You Xi asked.
Zhou Yu hesitated for a while, then nodded. “Almost all known human diseases can be treated. Our experts have deduced that the medical technology and treatments within the game are at least one hundred years beyond those of the real world. Miss Hei Zhenzhu mentioned a concept before: parallel universes. She felt that the game developer may have come from a parallel universe.”
You Xi nodded, frowning slightly.
“Why? Is someone in your family sick?” Zhou Yu asked.
You Xi smiled slightly. “It was a long time ago. I suddenly thought of my xiao shu.”
You Xi’s family was originally in the textile business. In You Xi’s grandfather’s generation, it was very worthwhile. The family had two sons to bring up. The eldest was his father, who was idle all day long. Even after he was sent to study abroad, he returned after three or five years and still couldn’t speak English. Other than his appearance and fairy-like wife, he had done nothing with his life.
The You family prospered by relying on You Xi’s xiao shu. His xiao shu was a very talented young genius. He was keenly aware of business ventures when the online industry was still in its infancy.
Of the current You family industries, almost 90% of the profit was contributed by the company his xiao shu founded when he was alive.
It’s a pity that heaven envied those with talent. His xiao shu passed away at 25 or 26 due to illness. The year he passed, You Xi had just entered primary school.
“Let’s talk about the instance you’re going to.” You Xi changed the subject and asked. “What’s the name of the instance?”
“Jade Gate Divine Tomb.” Zhou Yu said. “I searched through the known video records. The last person to break through the instance was A-Level player Fu Yuan, but he died in the game.”
“Jade Gate Divine Tomb isn’t difficult, but when Fu Yuan played according to the summaries of his predecessors who experienced it, he found that there were many changes to the instance environment.” Zhou Yu hesitated. “My strength has never been that great, and my resilience isn’t enough. Those fortunate enough to survive the entire time, in addition to having powerful family backgrounds, many rely on Miss Hei Zhenzhu to take care of them.”
“The instance can only accommodate four players at once. I’ve found three helpers to enter the game this time.” Zhou Yu said. “The first is Guo Juexing, a military player. The second is Fu Yuan’s younger brother, Fu Qing. As for the third, that’s you.”
Zhou Yu was determined to win: “Three A-Level players and one S-Level player. This is the absolute best lineup. We will definitely pass the mission successfully!”
