Chapter 26

Guo Juexing looked at You Xi with panic, but saw that the latter was still smiling confidently.

“When I was a child, I used to go and pay homage to the ancestral graves… I met a snake king.” 1You Xi spoke slowly.

Guo Juexing’s eyes lit up: “You have a method to deal with snakes?!”

You Xi turned his head stiffly to face Guo Juexing: “…The old saying fits well. Once I was bitten by a snake, I was afraid of well rope for ten years.”2

The smile on the corners of You Xi’s lips hadn’t disappeared, but his face was clearly frozen stiff because of the venomous snakes!

Guo Juexing’s hopes plummeted to nothingness, so he stopped saying nonsense. Let’s go; there are times when the boss is unreliable, so we should respectfully run away for the first time.

Guo Juexing ran away, but he didn’t want You Xi to run faster than him!

You Xi’s legs moved up and down like a windmill. Ten days of escape training made him a bit more athletic, but in a long-term context, he was still slightly inferior to Guo Juexing.

Soon after, Guo Juexing passed by You Xi. Fear of death gripped You Xi tightly by the throat, and a snake’s hiss reached his ears like the whispers of a demon. You Xi’s eyes were open as wide as possible, but he still couldn’t help how he was running slower and slower. To make things worse, he even accidentally fell down.

And the one who tripped You Xi, it was impressively a snake–

You Xi fell to the ground with a pain in his leg. His face was pale as he reluctantly raised his hand while holding a thunderbolt seal up to the old iron who bit him 3 and blew up the venomous snake until bile spilled out of it.

You Xi pushed down his nausea, grabbed the dead snake, and continue running. He smelled of snakes, so he hoped that the other snakes would be deceived by his smell.

Unfortunately, though, snakes weren’t that stupid, and You Xi’s hopes were shattered.

His good luck seemed to have been exhausted. One after another, snaked encircled him. What’s even more terrifying was that the snakes hissed and fell from above his head.

You Xi was stunned by the rain of snakes and was instantly embarrassed. Guo Juexing’s decisions in this situation were far better than his. After realizing that he was surrounded by snakes, Guo Juexing immediately used a prop to encase himself in thick armor. He was holding a torch, so for a while, the snakes didn’t dare to bombard him.

Guo Juexing glanced at You Xi and couldn’t help but be horrified. Would the S-Level boss be taken down in this instance just like that?!

The snakes in this cavern were coral snakes. But after thousands of years in this strange, dark tomb, the population’s behavior had changed drastically. Now they were extremely aggressive and the effects of their venom had become stronger.

But contrary to their expectations, even after being bitten by snakes several times, You Xi was still breathing.

“Sss, it hurts–” You Xi waved his arm wildly, a silver-banded snake4 as thick as an adult’s arm around his arm. The snake was bigger and stronger than the others. After he was encircled by it, You Xi felt like his arm was about to break, but it was impossible to get rid of it just by waving his arm.

“Quick, grab it at seven inches!” Guo Juexing roared.

You Xi was desperate: “Where is seven inches!”

Guo Juexing felt like a knuckle was caught in his throat. He didn’t even know that kind of common sense? The S-Level boss became so useless after seeing a snake?

“Probably at three tenths past the head of the snake toward the tail of the snake–” Guo Juexing tried to make it clear, but before his words could be finished, he saw that the silver-banded snake that had been encircled around You Xi suddenly fell to the ground, unmoving.

Guo Juexing: “……”

As soon as the largest snake landed, the group of snakes that were tightly gathered around You Xi retreated like the tide. Except for a few dead snakes under You Xi’s feet, the other silver-banded snakes were all over a shot away from him.

Guo Juexing couldn’t help but be stunned.

What kind of operation was this? Was it because the boss’s blood was toxic and poisoning the silver-banded snakes to death?

You Xi leaned against the cavern wall and slumped to the ground. He was bitten four times, and each was burning and painful. But there were exactly four dead snakes surrounding him, neat and tidy, amongst the lot of them.

You Xi wiped the sweat off his face. Although he was embarrassed, his eyes were still shining like stars with charming brilliance. The female fans in the live broadcasting room cried when they saw so many snakes, but some people had questions in the chat barrage. As a boss, You Xi was actually afraid of snakes. Wasn’t that a bit wrong?

But the female fans who wanted to protect and hug the boss were too powerful. One by one, the barrage to embrace and be distressed for 004 quickly drowned out their doubts.

Inside the tomb, You Xi wasn’t happy about the remainder of his life. He whispered in a weak voice to Guo Juexing: “Guo-ge, I seem to be unable to walk anymore. The venom has started to go into effect…”

“Don’t worry about me, you can go ahead, ba!” You Xi grit his teeth and shut his eyes in despair. It was a rare moment of greatness.

Guo Juexing shouted wildly: “Boss, help! Snakes are coming to surround me!!!!”

“The people who were bitten by these venomous snakes before died almost instantly. You were bitten so long ago, yet you can still speak. You’re definitely fine!” Snakes were already attacking Guo Juexing. Although his armor was thick, there was a lot of skin that wasn’t protected by his armor. Guo Juexing panicked and repeatedly called for help: “Boss, these snakes are afraid of you. Help me!”

You Xi opened his eyes speechlessly. He was dying, but Guo Juexing actually wanted to hug his thighs.

You Xi sighed. He thought that he wouldn’t be able to live very long anyway, so he may as well do something good before he died.

You Xi’s legs were soft like noodles. He stood up, trembling, and walked toward Guo Juexing. Wherever he walked, the snakes consciously retreated. Once he was in front of Guo Juexing, he was able to stand upright without the wall supporting him.

“Eh?” You Xi said. “After a few steps, the strength seems to be returning to my legs.”

Guo Juexing had just survived death. While wearing his thick armor, he hugged You Xi firmly in gratitude: “You’ll be my oldest brother from now on! Does dage want to find a partner, ma? There are a lot of fairy-like little sisters in xiaodi’s house! If dage doesn’t like little sisters, I also have a gay little brother, so it’s okay if didi agrees to be with you!” 5

You Xi looked at Guo Juexing and waved his hand definitively like a he was scolding him. “No need, there’s already someone I like.”

You Xi said: “If you really want to repay me, just carry me away. I’m injured, it hurts!”

Guo Juexing cheerfully agreed. He was very physically strong, so he took off his armor and carried You Xi on his back.

You Xi applied the medicinal paste that Qin Yuandai had given him in the last instance, then supported his legs, happily becoming a salted fish 6 on Guo Juexing’s back.

“Where there are snakes, there’s water.” You Xi announced. “And the water flows to lower ground. I suggest we go deeper into the venomous snake’s territory. We may chance upon some discoveries.”

Guo Juexing had You Xi on him like a talisman, so he was a bit more courageous. Although there were snakes along their route, they all avoided them, so the pair went smoothly into the deeper part of the tomb.

The medicine Qin Yuandai gave him was very effective. After around 20 minutes, You Xi didn’t even notice the pain anymore.

They had already walked out of the cavern of snakes and arrived at a deeper underground palace.

You Xi got off of Guo Juexing and took out some water and food to get some calories. As they ate, the pair heard a faint ‘xixixi’ of laughter.

“This sound is familiar.” You Xi listened intently.

Guo Juexing: “Dage, this seems to be my paperman…”

While they were speaking, they felt as if the ground was shaking. They raised their eyes and glanced over. They were the first to see hundreds of skeletons rushing towards them in droves!
