Broom Head’s face swiftly darkens.

Everyone from Central Third knows – Yu Sheng has an ability that can drive anyone to death.

So long as it’s words which have slipped out of his mouth, eight to nine out of ten times, only the bad will come true and not a single good one will. A single slip of soured milk* from him spares no one, and no one who receives it can escape.

(*soured milk: 毒奶 well-wishes that turn out bad)

His other name is Crow Mouth*.

(*Crow Mouth: 乌鸦嘴 To describe a person whose mouth is downright treacherous. Everything nice he says doesn’t come true, but everything that’s the opposite comes true.)

His most talked about achievement occurred back in Yu Sheng’s first year of high school. Back then, he’d jinxed a third-year Glory-player till he was forced on his knees for 50 consecutive matches. Overnight, the guy had crashed right down to Bronze tier.

The Glory-player was left so badly traumatized, his hands trembled and he felt faint every time he touched a keyboard. He had no choice but to give up the game.

In addition, he was only able to increase his score by some hundred points after three months of obstinacy. In the end, he even dropped out of all special servers to rejoin the normal one.

Due to this incident, no one in Central Third dares to provoke Yu Sheng. While this is in part due to him being a tough opponent, it is more because his borderline metaphysical jinxes are way too terrifying.

Afterall, it is bad enough to be outmatched in a fight. No one wants it to rain the moment they step out the doors, run into walls every time they stroll down the street, and be hauled out of the exam hall three times when they try to cheat.

Broom Head’s sore spot is stabbed. His face flushes bright red with fury, instantly blowing his top:

“Bullshit! Just fight me if you’ve got the guts! Stop playing dirty and jinxing us behind our backs! You’re just a fucking crow mouth—”

“You’re aware of that, and yet you’re still talking to me.”

Yu Sheng sighs softly, rubbing sore ears that were blasted by this guy:

“Did I also jinx your IQ accidentally?”

Broom Head’s expression instantly changes. He falls dead silent, peering at Yu Sheng with palpable terror in his eyes.

Buns in one hand, Yu Sheng switches them to his other hand and kneads his sleep-deprived and pulsing temples twice.

Sometimes, he seriously cannot get what these hormone-driven, overly-enthused youths are thinking.

They’ve clearly gotten a taste of what they need to; They’ve gotten down on their luck, and they were suitably punished. Yet, they could still muster the guts to round up a bunch of guys and come knocking on his doors, persistently incurring his wrath.

To top it off, they’ve never once considered he might slip them a sip of soured milk.

Yu Sheng tousles his hair, glancing at the time before running his gaze over the gang before him.

The sidekicks still retain some IQ points. The moment Yu Sheng makes to open his mouth, they immediately back off in terror, obviously terrified he might casually pick out someone at random to bomb his words on.

“Useless trash! Did Lao Zi bring you here to see the show?!”

Broom Head bursts out, flying into a rage as he hollers at them:

“Beat him up! Beat him till he can’t say a thing! Then, we’ll see what bull he can still say—”

Yu Sheng’s head pulses at his volume. He shuts him up:

“Go ahead.”

Broom Head freezes.

Yu Sheng rubs his neck as he scans the vicinity for a good spot to place his things:

“Just come at me all at once. I’m in a rush for time. There’s still exams to attend.”

These words are nothing if not aggravating. Broom Head instantly turns hot-white with rage. Animosity spells clear as day on the faces of his gaggle of sidekicks.

Yu Sheng doesn’t pay it much mind. With a short yawn, he struts over to the corner of the fence.

He rarely if ever jinxes others.

Not only are his jinxes too lethal, there are too many things they can affect. At times, there may even be some unimaginable counter effect involved.

Yu Sheng finds that too much of a bother, so he prefers fists to words when it comes to resolving his problems.

But with that said, Broom Head is an exception.

Broom Head’s real name is Li Wei. He belongs to a family of businessmen. Through bribery, he managed to enter Province Point and is often accompanied by a couple followers who come from similar backgrounds.

There will always be a couple of rotten apples wherever one goes. Save for giving money, their families mostly don’t give a damn about the things they do. Without the slightest desire to study, they spend their days taunting others and picking fights, mucking around and wasting their life away.

Even without looking at their other issues, if one narrows down to just the messes in the shopping district alone, there’s a small half that were caused by these guys and which Central Third students were forced to take the fall for.

Yu Sheng has long since heard about this bunch, but he had never quite ran into them. Not until the day before Finals, at least. This group of bastards had been breaking the laws out in the open by cornering a female student who was walking home alone. They had leered, and they even talked dirty down on her. Yu Sheng just so happened to be skipping class to play games at home when he ran right into this scene.

The girl was scared to tears and was crying badly. It didn’t seem right to let her witness a fight on top of that. That’s why, Yu Sheng had pulled him over to a crowded place without making a move, and he had smoothly blessed him with a few polite lines.

Initially, he’d thought that would be the end of that, but he didn’t think this guy would be so persistent as to bring his pals over today.

After searching the area with his eyes, Yu Sheng finally finds a spot clean and level enough to leave his breakfast for now.

He has only just lowered them when a hand shoots out and directly sweeps aside the soy milk and buns in his hands.

Broom Head has obviously taken his words just now as an insult. With a thunderous expression, he grits down on his cigar and pulls off his uniform jacket:

“Like hell you’re going to that exam. Stop buying time already! You’ll either bow down and admit your mistake, or you’ll be beaten to death by us today. Don’t think you can get off easy!”

The soy milk has been spilled across the ground. The buns which he hasn’t yet bitten into also rolled twice and are dusted with a thin layer of dirt.

Yu Sheng raises his brows and he sighs softly.

High schoolers will always hold a grudge over the most ridiculous matters. Due to the stress from their studies and their constant hotheadedness caused by their pent-up hormones, when one tosses puberty into the mix, they will arrange fights over everything.

The truth is, Yu Sheng has always believed lots of things can be settled with a bit of civility.

Noting how the depressing-looking Broom Head is still staring dead at him, Yu Sheng raises his head and extends a courteous nod. Before Broom Head can withdraw his hand, Yu Sheng’s hand shoots out in a flash and locks over his wrist.

It’s only a slight movement, but a faint yet sonorous crack resounds through the air.

Broom Head turns ashen white in a blink of an eye, his entire wrist which had been captured by his hand twisting at an odd angle.

Yu Sheng violently tugs and closes in in a heartbeat. Shoulder jabbing right against his chest, one arm raises and one arm flips. His opponent’s thrown right to the ground and flat on his back.

SLAM!

A patch of dust flies up.

He springs into action, just as he said he would. Broom Head’s followers are thrown off guard for an instant. Before they can react, he’s already forced himself up close.

The youth’s movements are terrifyingly efficient. Charging into the centre of this bunch of bulky bastards, he viciously thrusts his attacks upon them. Each raise of his knee and flip of his arm holds tremendous strength. Each little friend is given a punch.

Colour drains out of the faces of the remaining few. Seeing how much of a disadvantage they are at, they abandon their pals and turn in an attempt to scurry away. Only, right when they have taken a few steps, they are thrown cleanly onto the ground by him.

Within a couple of minutes, the ground’s filled with moans, groans, and bodies.

“Stop, stop!”

A blondie whirls in from around the corner, crying anxiously, “It’s the police! Hurry—”

Blondie loses his voice, staring dumbfounded with wide eyes. Realization dawns upon him.

Li Wen came here today with the intention of putting someone in their place, so the ones who he brought with him are all fighters. There are some who are even fitness instructors for the gyms around town.

Since the students are a couple of days into their vacation, there have been lots of police officers patrolling nearby. He thus ordered him specifically to be on look out. This is so that if the police do pass by by some chance, he can immediately alert them to the danger. No matter how the match turns out, they would put it down and retreat.

……

But it looks like retreat’s no longer easy or possible.

Blondie’s knees turn weak. He backs up two steps before he whips around and hightails out of there:

“POLICE! POLICE! Help…”

Yu Sheng picks up on a yell, but after throwing the last person to the ground, he brushes his hands off and raises his head, neither hurried nor anxious.

Having been dragged to the forefront of territorial disputes all year round, he has already accumulated tonnes of experience when it comes to matters like this.

The ones on the ground can’t crawl up for a while. Yu Sheng dusts off the dirt sticking to his school jacket then pulls the zipper up to his neck as per regulations. After straightening his uniform, he backs up a few steps.

And suddenly stops.

There were too many people just now. In the midst of the chaos, he failed to notice there was actually another person standing off to the side.

He’s tall, donning a pure black dress shirt instead of a school uniform, and he’s got its sleeves rolled back twice.

One hand is stuffed in his long pants’ pocket, with a slender and defined pale wrist jutting out.

His right hand is carrying a fresh off the stove, piping hot and crispy, impious pancake containing crispy fritters, grilled sausages and fish tofu that smells absolutely appetizing.

There might even be a chicken cutlet in there.

Blasphemous.

Black Blouse meets Yu Sheng’s gaze and raises his eyebrows, smiling amicably at him.

His eyes are long and narrow behind his spectacles. The edges of his eyes slant up slightly near-end, making his eyes look deep.

His looks are that of a naturally indifferent and lazy person with an elegant poise. And yet, all that is jumbled up by that rather abrupt beam of his, swiftly transforming his image into that of a baffling yet eager-to-help guy.

Yu Sheng is immediately on guard.

His intuition has always been fairly reliable. Although this wariness may come quite incredulously, it also says that this rascal before him who spells “I am a top student” from top to toe isn’t as harmless as he looks.

Yu Sheng narrows his eyes, running the tip of his tongue over his tiger fang*.

(*tiger fang: canine)

Red and blue lights as well as the sounds of police whistles come from around the corner.

Blondie loses courage and is gone before long without a trace. The police officer who heard a cry rushes over only to be met with the sight of the ground littered with bodies. He scowls despite himself and looks up:

“What happened?!”

Yu Sheng’s gaze flickers over to that Black Blouse.

When it comes to getting caught after fights, Yu Sheng has a natural advantage that should not be overlooked. In the two years he spent in high school, he has more or less been involved in numerous fights of all kinds, but till now, he has never been investigated for more than a handful of times.

This is because in contrast to his formidable record of defeating all within his school, Yu Sheng actually looks overly gentle and harmless.

He even looks docile.

Round eyes with double eyelids and long lashes to add. His features are all soft, delicate, and pretty. Whenever he parts his mouth, the tiger fang on the right peeks its tiny little edge out, as if unwilling to be hidden away.

No matter how much of a mess he’s embroiled in, so long as he wears his school uniform properly and stands off to the side, he will mostly be treated like an innocent youth passing by, meant to be comforted and escorted back to school.

Technically, he should be able to feign ignorance this time too. But right when the fight was over, there just had to be an eyewitness who popped out of nowhere.

Yu Sheng frowns. He appraises Black Blouse, deliberating whether or not to threaten him when the police’s distracted and make a dash for it, and he turns around:

“Someone was fighting here just now. I came here for the exam. I just so happened to be passing by.”

Broom Head still has one last breath in him and he’s nearly pissed to death. He struggles to get to his feet:

“Bullshit! This is his work! Cop, it’s that freaking rascal – He beat us up! He’s spewing a bunch of fucking lies—”

“Shut up!”

The police officer’s head pulses at the noise. Following his rebuking roar, he looks between both boys who’re still standing their ground.

He already has a faint idea of whose side he’s leaning more towards. Scanning the area and finding one more person in the corner, he waves him over as well:

“You! Come here too! Why don’t you tell me exactly what happened here?”

Yu Sheng looks up.

Black Blouse straightens and walks over. In the long and narrow eyes behind his glasses, there seems to be some merriment dancing as his gaze sweeps past Yu Sheng.

“They fought and he is a passer-by. I saw it.”

Black Blouse answers. His left hand slips out from his pocket, long fingers pointing at the ground as he says in a heartfelt tone:

“They scared him so badly, even his buns fell to the ground.”

Yu Sheng: ……

*Behind the Scenes*

Silvery: Do you think it’s better for his nickname to be: Black Button Up / Black Dress Shirt / Black Blouse? Since the MC is quite a bit of cute gangsta?

Decadence: Isn’t just Blackie ok?
