The weather was getting hotter and hotter as the days went by. Unknowingly, their final exams were already over in mid-July. After spending a few days in bed, Fang Yu was still not reconciled. Their vacation had only just started but he was already going to work from nine to five as the average office worker and even did overtime.

Fang Yu’s grandfather had asked him to help at the company every summer and winter vacation. He was unable to oppose his grandfather so he could only grit his teeth and obey. Lin Moyan didn’t know what work he was doing but he only saw Fang Yu’s haggard and fatigued figure every day. He felt distressed for his lover’s health and acquiesced to Fang Yu’s request to stay a few more days. Until the end of July, he had still not left to visit his mother.

That night, Fang Yu was working overtime again. When he called Lin Moyan, he grumbled and protested, saying that he was tossed around so much every day, he didn’t even get to spend time with his wife. He pleaded pitifully, saying that he was the only one working overtime in the company and he hadn’t even had dinner yet. He wanted Lin Moyan to come to the company building and accompany him so that he wouldn’t be so lonely and miserable.

Lin Moyan refused firmly but after hanging up, he thought about his cold rejection and sighed helplessly. He went into the kitchen to cook two dishes and placed them into a lunchbox with some rice, preparing to bring it over to Fang Yu.

Fang Yu’s company was on the outskirts of the city and it hadn’t been long since it moved. Many companies had started to move to that area but it was still empty since the area was still being developed. There were some occasional construction sites while the unoccupied new buildings were not lit up.

He had been dragged by Fang Yu to visit the company the last time. Even then, he didn’t dare to stay for too long since it was Fang Yu’s workplace and also his family business. He didn’t want to make trouble for Fang Yu and looked around a bit before rushing back home. This time, it was his second time going to the company.

He got out of the taxi and looked around a bit. The surroundings were quiet and the streetlights were dim. There was only a dilapidated van parked on the side of the road. After walking a bit, he realised that he didn’t know which floor Fang Yu was on. He took out his phone and was about to call Fang Yu when he heard a familiar but disgusting voice behind him.

“Xiaoyan, long time no see…” The mature male voice was mixed with inexplicable excitement.

Lin Moyan trembled all over and spun around. The man was only a few meters away from him and under the dim street lamp, his face was blurred, but just his voice was enough for Lin Moyan to violently renounce his presence in his heart. Lin Moyan tried to recollect himself as he silently watched the man slowly approach him.

As he came closer, his face became clearer and clearer until Lin Moyan could finally admit who the person before him was- Li Wei.

Lin Moyan was anxious and turned sharply on his heels. He felt that it was extremely dangerous to be alone with Li Wei at this moment. Although Li Wei hadn’t done anything to him, his instincts told him that he should leave immediately, and so he did, but it seemed to be too late.

A tingling pain emerged from his abdomen and his hands immediately flew to the spot where the sensation was. He curled into a squat on the ground. His mind was blurred for a moment and he curled into a squat on the ground. At that moment, an arm was wrapped around his shoulder and a towel appeared in front of his eyes, followed by a pungent smell. As he lost his consciousness, he mustered all his strength to press the button on his phone before his grip loosened and he completely passed out.

When Lin Moyan woke up again, there was a throbbing pain in his head and he felt uncomfortable all over. His body was also covered with sticky sweat. He wanted to sit up but it was futile. It was then that he realised that he had been kidnapped.

His limbs were tied securely and he was lying on his side on a bed with a peculiar smell. He struggled a few times but the skin on his wrist was rubbed raw by the rough rope and there was no sign of the rope loosening. It just made him more embarrassed. At the same time, he felt a stinging pain in his stomach.

The stinging sensation reminded him of how he got into this situation, Li Wei had appeared and electrocuted him with a taser.

Why was Li Wei at Fang Yu’s company? What was his purpose? Lin Moyan couldn’t guess his intentions, but since he was tied up, it was very likely that he was the target of Li Wei’s scheme. After all, Li Wei had always tried to get close to him but failed.

He shook his head and calmed himself down. He shouldn’t be thinking about Li Wei’s intentions but he should try to figure out a way to escape before Li Wei came back. Lin Moyan briefly scanned his surroundings.

The ground was damp and the walls were a slimy green from all the mould growing on them. It was slightly difficult to see because of the dim lighting but he could make out the appearance of a table with half a broken leg along with a bunch of things placed messily on it. There was nothing sharp in the room that he could use to cut the rope on his body.

Lin Moyan was still lying on the bed at this time and his nose was filled with the sour odour, making him scrunch up his nose. He frowned, enduring the pain in his abdomen, he gathered his strength and tried to sit up again.

Instead, there was a creaking sound from the bed, as if it was about to fall apart. Lin Moyan didn’t dare to move for some time, fearing that the sound would bring people in.

He got up slowly, trying to avoid any more noises and finally sat up. Luckily, his legs were only bound together and weren’t tied to a bed post. He gently placed his feet on the ground and shuffled around, searching for something he could use to cut the rope but it was fruitless.

Finally, when he looked down, he happened to catch sight of a triangular-shaped green glass shard on the inside of the leg of the bed. It looked like a piece of glass from a beer bottle which had probably landed there when it broke.

His legs were tied up so he couldn’t move around freely. He had to sit on the bed and shuffle to the head of the bed. At the same time, he still had to pay attention to whether there were footsteps outside. Fortunately, it had been quiet outside the entire time.

After moving to the head of the bed, Lin Moyan moved his feet out, so that when he got up, he was a little farther away from the bed and he could sit on the ground next to the foot of the bed.

After a lot of effort, Lin Moyan finally sat down at the foot of the bed. The ground was cold and wet and his sweat-soaked pants were stuck to the cold ground, making him more uncomfortable. However, he was in no condition to care about it.

His hands were on the cold ground and groping eagerly behind him until he got a cut on his hand as his hand slid across the glass shard. At this time, he didn’t have the energy to care about the tingling in his hand. He just wanted to cut the rope before Li Wei came back and escape.

He sawed the rope a bit, sweat dripping down his forehead into his eyes. His eyes stung and he squeezed his eyes uncomfortably but went back to work. Since his hands were bound, he couldn’t hold the shard properly and several cuts appeared on his hands. The sticky blood only made it more difficult for him to hold the glass. Regardless, he grasped the shard tightly and hastened his actions.

Just when he was about to succeed, there was the sound of dragging footsteps outside the door. Lin Moyan stopped for a moment and immediately increased the force and speed he used to saw the rope.

When the sound of the door opening echoed, Lin Moyan finally stopped. He wanted to delay as much as possible, secretly looking for more opportunities to cut the rope that was about to be broken while hiding his intentions from Li Wei.

When the door was opened, Lin Moyan watched the person enter quietly. Although the light was not bright enough, it was enough for him to see Li Wei compared to the previous dim light in front of the office.

Looking at Li Wei, Lin Moyan felt that Li Wei had become more haggard and less elegant. His original upright figure was now ruined, with white hair growing between his temples, a lot of wrinkles on his face, and an unhealthy bluish yellow tint on his face.
