The girl pointed to a corner of the wooden house not far away, where there was a pile of thatch, but it was vaguely visible that the walls were somewhat damaged.
"If it doesn't work, you should run. Faking it will get you killed." The girl's voice was less hoarse than it had been initially because she had spoken more.
"Thank you, I can do it." Tang San said in a low voice.
The girl looked up at him, meeting his calm gaze. Her small body trembled, and then she quickly lowered her head. "Oh."
She moved her body, seemingly preparing to leave.
"I'm Tang San, what's your name?" Tang San asked in a low voice.
Apart from Zhu Jiaxin, this was the first human he had interacted with, and they were both slaves.
The girl looked at him again, not surprised by his name, which was simply a number. After hesitating for a moment, she said in a low voice, "I'm Ling Muxue."
Hearing her name, Tang San was taken aback. This name didn't sound like a slave's name at all!
"My mother was, was..." Ling Muxue stammered, "So, my mother and I lived in the same village. She taught me..."
Although her ability to express herself was limited, Tang San understood her meaning. Her mother had been favored by a wolf demon, and although she was a slave, she had some privileges. She could live with her child and teach her things, which made this girl's thinking more advanced and knowledgeable than other children of her age. She even had a beautiful name.
"Uh-huh." Tang San didn't say much, just nodded at her.
Ling Muxue looked at him again, her eyes clearly showing some worry. "Can you really do it?"
"Uh-huh." Tang San nodded again.
"Oh."
At this moment, other human slaves were already looking over. Ling Muxue didn't dare to say anything more, just nodded at Tang San again, then curled up and moved to the other side.
Perhaps because of the simple exchange with Ling Muxue, Tang San's mood improved. Being alone in a foreign land, feeling a bit of warmth was like finding a spark for him. After all, it had been eight years.
Two days passed quickly. The ten survivors had eaten the best food they had ever had in this world over the past two days. Everyone was clearly in better spirits than when they first arrived. The older youths were clearly filled with longing. They all understood that this was their chance!
Among the ten, only Ling Muxue was a girl. No one paid much attention to her. Everyone's goal was on the bloodline awakening.
If they could pass the bloodline test, it would mean they were no longer slaves and could become vassals of the Wind Wolf Clan. For slaves, this was a leap to the heavens.
In this world, slaves were treated as lowly as food, basically like livestock, or even worse.
The door of the wooden house finally opened, to the expectation of most people. Several strong wolf demons walked in, shouted, and ordered everyone in the house, including Tang San, to follow.
Stepping out of the wooden house, the sunlight was somewhat blinding, but it brought warmth to their bodies.
Ling Muxue followed close to Tang San, and he felt her worried gaze again.
"Be at ease." He said in a low voice.
Ling Muxue was taken aback and looked up at him.
Tang San nodded at her.
The wooden house where they had stayed for the past two days was in the town. Today, they had come to the center of the Wind Wolf Town, a place Tang San had never been before.
It was a small square of about a thousand square meters. At this moment, many members of the Wind Wolf Clan had already gathered around. In the center of the square was an altar. What made Tang San's pupils instantly contract was the base of the altar, which seemed to be made of mortar and stones, and many skulls could be faintly seen within.
Human skulls!
Tang San's hand subconsciously clenched.
Even in death, they were treated like this...
A flame seemed to burn within him. As a former god king, his mental fortitude was far beyond that of ordinary beings. But at this moment, he was burning with a desire to destroy both the demon and fairy races.
His eyes began to turn cold, and a faint trace of killing intent lingered in his heart.
Ling Muxue, who was beside him, seemed to sense something, shivered, and subconsciously moved two steps away, increasing the distance between them.
Her action startled Tang San, but in a vague way, he seemed to have found something, something from his previous life.
He still clearly remembered the path he had walked in his youth in his previous life, a path through hell.
His emotions calmed, and he slightly closed his eyes, hiding that spark of inspiration in his heart. Demons! Very well!
Tang San and the other nine were led to one side of the Wind Wolf Town square. Under a large tree, an elderly wolf demon was seated.
This old wolf demon appeared to be female, with dark green eyes. In her right hand, she held a cane, and she was seated on a large chair. Beside her stood a human, who looked to be in his forties, with a thin face but dressed in relatively luxurious clothing. His eyes also had a faint green glow, and he was slightly hunched, showing a respectful demeanor.
The wolf demon who had brought Tang San and the others to the old wolf demon immediately bowed respectfully. "Respected High Priest, the slaves who have awakened their bloodlines this year have been brought."
The old wolf demon, known as the High Priest, responded indifferently and then gestured to the human man beside her.
The human man first bowed respectfully to her, then slowly approached Tang San and the others.
Tang San had been silently sensing the aura of the High Priest, which was very strong! With his current strength, he couldn't even discern her cultivation level. Of course, this was without using his divine consciousness. But he didn't dare to use it easily, as he had very little left. In his current state, he couldn't recover it, unless it was a matter of life and death. He would definitely not use his divine consciousness lightly. Only when he grew stronger could this divine consciousness truly come into play.
The human man was about to speak when the wolf demons on the side suddenly parted, bowing respectfully. A huge wolf demon, over three meters tall, strode over.
This wolf demon looked extremely strong, with muscles that seemed to burst with explosive power. His eyes were a deep green, not as profound as the High Priest's, but still seemed to contain intense energy fluctuations.
He strode to the High Priest, slightly bowed, and placed his right hand over his chest. "High Priest."
The old face of the High Priest showed a smile. "Lord, you have arrived. The ancestral sacrifice will begin shortly. Are you prepared?" She remained seated, showing that in the Wind Wolf Town, she was likely the highest-ranking figure.
The Wind Wolf Lord said, "I am prepared. The offerings are all ready. I will need the High Priest to preside over the ceremony."
"Very well. Once the bloodline tests of these slaves are complete, we will begin." The High Priest said indifferently.
"Let's begin." The Wind Wolf Lord said to the middle-aged human who had already approached Tang San and the others.
"Yes, my Lord." The man bowed respectfully and then faced Tang San and the other ten.
"Listen carefully. I will test your bloodlines shortly. During the test, if you have any reactions, you can show them. Don't suppress them, and don't be afraid. You must give it your all. Do you understand?"
Tang San looked up at him, catching a glimpse of a trace of sadness in the eyes of the slightly hunched middle-aged man.
