Chapter 5

Longcheng chose to advance on the ground, which was completely out of Fermi's expectations. He had primarily set up his main defensive area in the air. As the Farming King charged forward along the ground, only two electromagnetic cannons could attack it.

45 seconds, Longcheng advanced six kilometers.

The Farming King's thick legs, like two giant springs, left deep craters in the ground with each step, sending soil flying over ten meters high. Each landing was powerful, like striking a heavy drum, causing the ground to rumble and shake with a terrifying force. When faced with artillery fire, the Farming King would dodge with a surprising agility that seemed out of place with its massive form. It performed basic movements like sliding steps, side flips, and small jumps, all executed with fluidity and precision.

The stark contrast between its massive, heavy form and its agile movements created a strong sense of contradiction, making everyone feel both excited and strange.

Qu Xiao became interested. In 45 seconds, advancing six kilometers on the ground was impressive, both in terms of strategy and the Farming King's basic skills. However, at this speed, it would take 450 seconds, or seven minutes and thirty seconds, to cover 60 kilometers.

Moreover, the Farming King's smooth advance was only due to the security center being caught off guard. Once they regained their composure, the real test would begin.

Qu Xiao's prediction was accurate. His mecha's radar showed that a large number of ground-based artillery turrets were being activated.

Fermi let out a long breath, finally completing his adjustments. He felt a sense of relief, knowing that if the Farming King had broken through his defenses, it would have been an indelible disgrace.

Time ticked by: 47, 48, 49...

Under the control of the main computer, one by one, the turrets activated, their ominous barrels turning and charging, emitting a cold, bright blue light!

Inside the cockpit, Longcheng waited patiently, listening to the hum of the power core. He was waiting for the [R6] power core to reach full power. It would take just one minute for the [R6] to release all its energy.

At 50 seconds, Longcheng noticed several barrels starting to turn. He knew he couldn't wait any longer.

Although the [R6] power core wasn't at full power, it was enough to support his next move.

The charged barrels roared simultaneously, firing brilliant light shells that formed a web of light chains in the air. They whistled sharply, rushing madly toward the charging Farming King.

The artillery fire was precisely calculated by the computer, with each light shell landing within a 55-meter radius centered on the Farming King. This was the no-escape zone calculated by the security center's computer based on battle data, making it impossible for the Farming King to avoid being hit.

The Farming King's armor was almost non-existent, and a single hit would turn it into a sieve.

Other colleagues in the security center who were watching the battle nodded slightly. Fermi had made a mistake earlier, but he had made effective adjustments in time. As the defending side, they were always at a disadvantage. Initial misjudgments were common, and timely and effective adjustments were crucial.

Fermi's eyes widened, and a smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

The next moment, his smile froze.

The Farming King's arms suddenly switched to two slightly thicker cylinders, each about half the length of a forearm, with circular patterns on them, resembling two oddly shaped fists.

With no place to dodge, the Farming King's fists slammed into the ground, and visible air waves instantly formed around them.

The next moment, the Farming King shot forward like an arrow.

Its speed was astonishing, instantly breaking through the barrage.

Boom, boom, boom. Intense artillery fire rained down on the 55-meter radius where the Farming King had just been, causing a massive explosion and thick smoke.

The students' public channel erupted in chaos.

"Which big shot can explain what this is?"

"Damn, a secret weapon!"

"Propulsion device? I've never seen anything like it!"

Qu Xiao was also stunned, listening to the chatter on the public channel, his expression blank. When the Farming King's arms switched to the cylinders, he guessed they might be some type of light shield generator. The Farming King lacked armor, and the ability to resist artillery fire was crucial, making a light shield the most reasonable choice.

Clearly, he was wrong, and wrong by a lot.

What was that?

They had grown up with the latest and most popular mechas on the market, never having encountered a farming mecha, let alone a 20-year-old one.

The automatic attack mode did not stop just because the Farming King had escaped. Light shells rained down from all directions, dense as rain, relentlessly pursuing it.

The Farming King, sprinting at high speed, performed a graceful fish jump, dodging most of the light chains. In mid-air, it twisted its waist like a pretzel, narrowly avoiding two light chains.

At this point, it couldn't adjust its position and was about to be engulfed by the incoming shells.

Many students couldn't bear to watch and closed their eyes, while others opened their eyes wide, not wanting to miss any detail.

The Farming King's arms extended downward, and its fists slammed into the ground again.

Thud, a muffled sound that no one had ever heard before, followed by visible air waves spreading out. It seemed as if an invisible rope had pulled the farming mecha upward, lifting it over ten meters.

The whistling shells engulfed the ground below.

The next moment, the farming mecha plummeted rapidly, re-entering the smoke.

The security center was in chaos.

"Damn it! What is this thing?"

"It looks like a spring? What kind of device? Is it new? I've never seen anything so strange."

"Damn! It's a pile driver!"

Many in the security center had military experience and had used engineering mechas, quickly recognizing the two cylindrical fists on the Farming King's arms. No one had initially thought of a pile driver, but the word "pile driver" immediately made everyone realize what it was.

Fermi, who had used engineering mechas, knew what a pile driver was. Also known as a high-energy pneumatic hammer, it was primarily used for driving piles. With a sharp front end, it could also create pile holes and was a common accessory for engineering and farming mechas.

He quickly input the data into the computer, and two seconds later, the model and parameters of the Farming King and the pile drivers appeared on the screen.

[Farming King 98], a 1998 model.

[Shenzhou Hammer King 94], a 1994 model.

These year numbers seemed to emit a blinding light, hurting his eyes. Fermi's face turned red with embarrassment. The words of his colleagues earlier echoed in his mind, and he took a deep breath, suppressing the anger in his chest.

If he had faced the latest, limited-edition, or custom mecha, losing wouldn't have been a big deal. But a 21-year-old farming mecha, nearly ready for scrapping, and a pair of 25-year-old pile drivers, had left him flustered.

He had been humiliated.

He forced himself to calm down, inputting the parameters of the [Farming King] and [Shenzhou Hammer King] into the system, which quickly calculated the data.

In the face of absolute power, any trickery only delayed the inevitable failure.

Three seconds later, the maximum burst power, maximum sprint distance, and other detailed data for the [Farming King] and [Shenzhou Hammer King] were calculated. The system began to reconfigure the attack plan.

Two seconds later, the attack plan was set, and the data was transmitted to all attack positions. The next strike had a theoretical evasion probability of less than 1%.

The pile drivers had captured everyone's attention in the security center. People stood up from their seats, gathering around the central screen. They found it fascinating, and the idea of using pile drivers was so creative that it left them amazed.

The dense artillery fire, rain-like light shells, and the rising flames and smoke made the Farming King's figure appear and disappear, moving erratically.

"Too flashy!" "Can't see clearly!"

Someone reacted quickly: "Switch to camera 772!"

The image from camera 772 appeared on the central screen, showing black smoke rising like a monstrous creature.

They could almost hear the wind on the battlefield as a massive figure burst out of the smoke, the air currents dispersing the smoke and creating a vortex.

When they saw the figure emerging from the smoke, their mouths dropped open in shock, and exclamations of surprise filled the room.

"My God!"

"This... What kind of move is this?"

Fermi's eyes nearly popped out of his head. He stared at the Farming King on the screen, as if he had seen a ghost. His previous confidence and certainty crumbled instantly.

On the screen, the bulky Farming King, with its two large water tanks on its back, moved on all fours, like a massive metal rhinoceros, charging through the dense barrage.

On... all fours?

For heaven's sake, Fermi was a seasoned veteran, having experienced numerous conflicts and earning a third-class military commendation. He had fought against the new humans in the silicon-iron corridor and the shadow hunters who played with "mud" in the Star Dream Ring. He swore he had never seen a 21-year-old farming mecha, equipped with 25-year-old pile drivers, move on all fours like a rhinoceros.

His pride in his combat experience and accumulated knowledge was shattered.

Fermi was at a loss.

The security center was in chaos, with curses and exclamations of disbelief filling the air.

The artillery fire remained dense but always missed by a hair. Everyone present was a seasoned professional, and they knew that a small miss meant the opponent was in control of the battlefield and not under any real threat.

"Quick! Recalculate!"

"Change the mode!"

"Which mode?"

"Quadruped, beast mode?"

"Wolf? Tiger? Rhinoceros? Horse?"

The deputy head of security couldn't hold back, standing up and roaring: "Move! Don't just stand there! Try any mode, damn it, and do it quickly!"

The sound of chairs falling, coffee cups breaking, and muttering mixed with curses turned the once peaceful security center into a chaotic battlefield.
