Arcmil Continent
The stage of this novel.
This continent is periodically exposed to invasions by powerful magical beasts that inhabit the northern wastelands.
Ten years before the start of the main story, there was an invasion far surpassing any previous one, known as the "Great Invasion," which led to the collapse of three countries.
The territories of the collapsed countries are now the habitats of powerful magical beasts, commonly referred to as the "Prison Lands."
In addition to humans, various races such as beastmen, fairies, and elves live on this continent, and among the collapsed countries were those inhabited by different races.
Academy City Arcazam
A city created for the establishment of Solminati Academy. The city is centered around Solminati Academy, with the administrative hall to the north, the citizens' district to the east, the commercial area to the south, and the craftsmen's district to the west.
There are also adventurers' guilds throughout the city, allowing students to take on jobs according to their rank.
Inter-city transportation is not well-developed, as this city was built at a neutral point among the territories of various countries.
However, the city is home to the latest research institutions and has received significant funding for its construction, making it a major hub on the continent. As a result, it has become a center of people, resources, and economy.
Solminati Academy
A school established by the countries of the continent to cultivate talent capable of combating large-scale invasions by magical beasts.
The highest grade is fourth year, and the curriculum covers not only combat but also research, politics, and other fields to produce versatile talent.
Students are divided into classes from 1 to 10 based on their abilities, and their treatment varies accordingly.
First-class students have priority access to training grounds and magical experiment facilities and can receive individual instruction from specialized teachers when necessary.
The academy is merit-based, and it is common for students who do not meet certain standards to be held back or even expelled.
Additionally, as the academy cultivates future leaders of various countries, it also serves as a political arena influencing the balance of power between nations.
The protagonist, due to ability suppression, has poor practical skills and relies on written exams to maintain his grades.
Magic
A technique that uses one's mental power and incantations to manifest various phenomena by raising magical elements from the atmosphere or one's body.
It is generally divided into incantation magic and array magic, but there are also various other techniques.
Spirit Magic
The magic of the spirits, who are the world's attendants.
Unlike the magic used by humans and demi-humans, spirit magic does not require incantations or arrays to interfere with the external world.
Qi Techniques
A technique that raises one's life force to manifest various phenomena.
Unlike magic, qi techniques generally do not require incantations or arrays, but they are less capable of producing large-scale phenomena.
Since qi is life force itself, complete depletion of qi means death.
Rank
A system used on the continent to evaluate the individual abilities of adventurers, soldiers, and others in stages.
To advance in rank, one must defeat magical beasts, complete quests and missions, and be evaluated based on their actions.
Rank E
The lowest rank, including new adventurers, new soldiers, and most first-year students at the academy.
Rank D
A lower rank for adventurers and soldiers, and an appropriate rank for second-year students at the academy.
Rank C
A mid-level rank for adventurers and soldiers, and a rank for third-year students at the academy.
Rank B
An upper-level rank for adventurers and knights, equivalent to fourth-year students at the academy.
Rank A
A top-tier rank for elite adventurers, royal guards, and those involved in the core of politics, economics, and military affairs.
Rank S
A rank given to top-tier individuals, of which there are only a dozen or so on the continent.
Rank SS
A rank held by only a few individuals on the continent, and most countries do not have anyone of this rank.
Dragons
The strongest creatures on the continent.
While they are biological, they are actually a type of spirit.
Unlike spirits, they have a physical body, but this body is the source of the spirits and is a mass of the world's fundamental material, the source element.
However, because they have a physical body, their biology is similar to that of other living beings.
When they die, they pass on their power to their descendants or the one who killed them.
Dragon Slayer
A person who has killed a dragon and inherited its power.
Only a few such individuals have existed in history, and their power is immense. Some also awaken to special abilities.
None have appeared in the past few hundred years.
Wyverns
A type of magical beast.
While they have superior combat abilities among magical beasts, they are far inferior to dragons, who consider them insignificant. However, they are a significant threat to humans and are embodiments of terror.
Source Element
The fundamental element of this world. When this source element gathers and transforms into mental energy, it becomes magical elements or magical power, and when it transforms into life energy, it becomes qi.
