The sun was high in the sky, and five people stood on a small island in the middle of a pond. One of them resembled a dwarf, another had a face full of scars, a woman with a white scarf around her neck, and a thin man. In the center stood a broad-shouldered man in a blood-red robe with a blue cross on it.
"Boss, hehehehe..." The dwarf in green plaid clothes laughed strangely, "The most important task is already completed. There are many little kids here, hehehehe, can we play with them? Hahaha."
Clearly, the tall man in the center was the boss, but he didn't speak.
"Boy, hahaha, you're quite playful. Do you want me to play with you?" The woman with the white scarf caressed the dwarf's face with her delicate hand, touching his neck and even inside his clothes.
The dwarf, called Boy, seemed very afraid of her. He stood there, not daring to move, his voice trembling, "W-White Fox, I-I haven't provoked you. Boss, she..."
"White Fox, you're getting more and more desperate. You even want to eat this disgusting 'monster'?" The scar-faced man said.
White Fox released her hand and walked up to the scar-faced man, smiling seductively, "I want to eat you. Will you let me?"
The scar-faced man glanced at the thin man beside him and said guardedly, "I don't want to end up like 'Firewood.' What did you do to him? He was once a strong man."
Firewood glared angrily at the scar-faced man but immediately lowered his head when he saw White Fox's expression, not daring to say a word.
The scar-faced man clapped and laughed, "Once a fierce warrior, now you're afraid of a woman? White Fox, your methods are too powerful. I'm curious, if you want to eat me, you'll have to eat the boss first."
White Fox laughed seductively and looked at the boss, "Such a strong man, I can't handle him."
The scar-faced man said, "Hey, I didn't think you, White Fox, would be afraid of anyone. I thought you ate all men."
"Enough, stop arguing," the boss said, "We have the Ice Crystal Crystal. Do what you want. Meet back at the usual place in the city in five days. Whoever doesn't show up, the Blue Cross Mercenary Group will lose a key member!"
Boy was the first to jump up, "Yes, boss, I'm off." He leaped and landed on the shore dozens of meters away, dragging his giant sword and fleeing into the distance.
The scar-faced man laughed, "Running so fast, must be eager to play! White Fox, your touch made him run away in a panic."
"Do I look that scary? I'm going for a walk, bye." White Fox didn't jump like Boy but walked away on the water's surface without causing a ripple.
The scar-faced man said, "Ah, going to play, come on, Firewood, I'll keep you company."
Firewood didn't even look at him and left alone.
The scar-faced man found it boring and left reluctantly.
The boss took out a mission request from his chest, "Egilusi Pipikang, kill this person?" Suddenly, he extended his left hand, palm open, and a yellow magical light shone from his palm.
Soon, the light faded, and a golden eagle's head and a snow-white lion's body appeared in the air. A griffin, larger than a four-person bed, roared and flapped its huge wings, stirring the calm water. Another long roar, and it carried its master far away.
In a dense forest, Vain and his group had been walking along the river for many days. They walked leisurely, thanks to the intermediate poison mage, Emma.
Emma's various magic skills made the monsters old, fearful, blind, poisoned, mad, and paralyzed, making their battles very easy. Except for Hesmingfen, who was still timid, no one else was seriously injured.
Vain, walking at the front, turned back and praised, "Emma, your magic is so powerful, I'm starting to want to learn magic, especially poison magic."
"Enough, enough, you've praised me hundreds of times on the way. If you keep saying that, I'll be embarrassed," Emma laughed happily. After all, being praised like this was a beautiful thing.
Shana was a bit jealous and said unhappily, "What, it's not just her who's working hard."
"Huh?" Vain was indeed straightforward and asked, "Who else?"
Shana couldn't take it anymore, rushed up, and kicked him, shouting, "Die!"
The teacher, Crab, sighed, "Ah! If she had kicked me, how happy I would be."
Emma and Hesmingfen both looked at him with disdain.
Shana no longer wore such revealing clothes. There were many mosquitoes in the forest, and even with insect repellent, they were still annoying.
Vain, kicked hard, decided not to provoke the two women and ran to the front to scout.
"Vain, w-wait for me," Hesmingfen, afraid of Shana and Emma, quickly followed Vain. He was afraid of them because he was too timid and was always bullied by the two women.
Vain sang loudly, swinging his large spear to clear the way. Vain didn't carry a spare weapon; this large spear was taken by force from another member. He wasn't satisfied with just taking it; when the other person tried to take it back, Vain beat him up, leaving him with a bruised face and three missing molars.
After that incident, Hesmingfen admired Vain even more, vowing to learn from him. Vain was delighted and often called himself "big brother," making Hesmingfen serve him tea, wash his clothes, and cook for him. Hesmingfen did all this happily, calling Vain "big brother" repeatedly.
"Hey, big brother, big brother, look at that," Hesmingfen hid behind Vain and pointed ahead.
"What? It's just a snake," Vain said, "Don't be afraid, it's not poisonous. Didn't we eat one this morning?"
Hesmingfen shook his head, "No, not that, I mean the thing in front."
"In front?" Vain looked carefully and saw something. He took a few steps forward, "It looks like... a big rock."
"Big rock?" Hesmingfen relaxed and came out from behind Vain, "It's just a rock."
Vain walked a bit further, "No, it doesn't seem like a rock."
Hearing this, Hesmingfen was scared and hid behind Vain again.
As they got closer, they finally saw what it was, "It's a house."
Hesmingfen sighed in relief, looking at the stone house, "Big brother, how can there be a house here? Is someone living here? This house is strange, it's one big rock. If it weren't for the door, who would know it's a house?"
"Hmm..." Vain pondered, "It is strange. How can there be a house in the dangerous Dattam Grand Canyon? No ordinary person would live here. Could it be a monster's home?"
At the mention of a monster, Hesmingfen turned pale and ran back the way they came, shouting, "Run, the monster is eating people, help, someone save me..."
Vain sweat-dropped, "I was just joking, no sense of humor. Is anyone there?" He walked to the house and noticed the ground had turned into cold white rock. On closer inspection, the house was part of the ground.
The rocky ground was pitted, as if something had chopped it repeatedly. The roof was the same. Vain became even more curious and saw a pile of broken axes next to the large rock. He thought, "Could this house have been chopped out with axes? That's crazy!"
Vain knocked on the wooden door, "Is anyone there?" After a while, no one answered, and there was no sound inside. Thinking it might be abandoned, he prepared to kick the door open. Before he could, he felt a cool sensation on his neck, and an axe was already at his throat.
"Help, help!" Hesmingfen ran and shouted, seeing Emma and Shana, he ran towards them but was stepped on the face by Shana.
Shana glared, "Don't try to take advantage of us, little pervert, like a certain teacher."
Crab was deeply hurt and squatted on the ground, drawing circles.
Hesmingfen said angrily, "It's bad, go save Big Brother Vain, he... he's going to be eaten by a monster!"
Everyone was shocked and didn't ask what happened, just asked him to lead the way.
They rushed to the stone house, and Shana's eyebrows twitched, "Is this the monster eating him?"
Vain was sitting on a wooden stool, eating a sweet watermelon, and waved to Emma and Shana, "Come... come over, help me chill the watermelon..."
"Chill your head!" The two women kicked Vain, making them worry for nothing, and he was eating a watermelon.
