Chapter 95

"Yife?"

Dressed in clothes darker than the night, the girl walked alone ahead, as if she hadn't heard the words behind her, or perhaps she was pretending not to notice the person following her.

"Ah..."

This was already the fifth time Levi had tried to talk to Yife since they left Chao Lingyin. Though a man who had seen the girl's body had no right to complain, he had been framed. Reflecting on it, he realized Chao Lingyin had clearly set him up, deliberately choosing that time to awaken Yife.

Why had he fallen for it so easily? After careful consideration, Levi realized Chao Lingyin had actually warned him. If he had thought about her words instead of dismissing them, he wouldn't have ended up in this situation.

He touched his right cheek, which was noticeably swollen. Yife's punch after waking up had been somewhat restrained, but it still left a mark on his face. Levi wanted to slow down to give himself time to recover, but the girl walking ahead didn't give him the chance. Though she was walking, her speed was fast enough to compete in the Olympic racewalking event. He could only hope his supposedly miraculous self-healing ability would kick in. What would Eileen think if he returned home with a big bump? Levi didn't dare think too much about it; at the very least, he would probably be accused of molesting a servant for a while.

This can't go on! They were more than halfway home, and his face still stung. Levi decided to find a way to make Yife stop and buy some time. He had been beaten up by Eileen that morning, and it hadn't even been 24 hours yet. He didn't want to go through that again.

Once he made up his mind, he acted immediately. Killers never lack decisiveness. Levi silently teleported in front of Yife, now only half a meter away. The girl couldn't pretend not to see him anymore.

Yife stopped, her head lowered. Her thin bangs covered her eyes, making it impossible for Levi to guess her mood. But even if he could see her eyes, what difference would it make? Was there a woman in this world who could act as if nothing happened after being seen naked by a man? Even if there were, it wouldn't be Yife, absolutely not. In the information Levi had gathered about the Golden Darkness, it was clearly noted that she "hates h," with a special emphasis!

The two stood straight in the forest, neither speaking nor moving. From a distance, they looked like a quarreling couple. Yife probably noticed this too, as the roots of her hair, hidden by her bangs, gradually turned red.

Left, right, turn. No matter which way the girl went, the damned man always blocked her path like a wall. Levi felt nostalgic for this childish game, but the girl, who had never raised her head, was getting angry.

Yife was very angry.

If the phrase "hair standing on end" was an artistic exaggeration for others, it was a fitting description of Yife's current state. The girl, unable to tolerate the man's harassment any longer, had her long, golden hair, which reached the ground, moving without wind, responding to her mood, and dancing fiercely in the air.

Thud, thud, thud...

A series of sharp sounds, and the ground behind Levi was pierced by her hair, which had turned into golden needles. After dodging the attack, he looked at the tattered hem of his coat and shouted at Yife with lingering fear.

"Hey! At least give a warning before attacking!"

As before, the girl ignored the noise. Her near-ambush attack only grazed the man's clothing, making her anger even more intense. It was clear that no matter how many years of experience one had, it didn't change their foolish nature. Despite living with Eileen for so long, Levi still didn't understand women. If he were a seasoned player, he would have deliberately let himself get grazed, and Yife probably wouldn't have continued her attack even after being seen naked.

Now, Levi's agile and cool dodges only fueled Yife's fighting spirit. This spirit was reflected in a series of rapid and fierce attacks.

In just a few seconds, a ten-meter radius around Yife became an open space. Whether it was towering trees or tiny weeds, nothing could survive the onslaught of thousands of sharp blades. Finally finding a place to rest, Levi's stylish coat was now in tatters, pitifully fluttering as he landed.

At least it wasn't a gift from Eileen. He didn't realize what he had done wrong and was still relieved that it was a cheap coat he had bought himself. Little did he know that his smile at the tattered cloth was the worst provocation in Yife's eyes!

"Disrespectful..."

The girl repeated this phrase, then suddenly crouched, her legs pushing her forward like a swift, charging at the hateful man who was still adjusting his clothes.

"Yife! Stop it!"

"I'm not playing!"

With a whoosh, the air seemed to tear as the girl's right hand, now a sharp blade, sliced across Levi's chest, forcing him to jump to the side.

She hadn't intended to hit him with one strike, as the distance between them when she started was too far for him to react. Yife's downward slash had too many openings, with a narrow attack range. Moving left, right, or even backward would have been enough to dodge. But that was only true for ordinary people. Levi, focused on his coat, forgot the description of the girl by his colleagues.

"Every part of her body is a weapon," capable of changing at will. You could never predict her next move, which was the most terrifying aspect of the cosmic killer, Golden Darkness. Yife didn't need to predict Levi's direction; she didn't even pull her right hand out of the ground. Her long, golden hair, floating behind her, suddenly turned into hundreds of sticks, attacking Levi from all sides. If he moved, he would be hitting the sticks head-on, no matter which direction he chose. This was Yife's strategy: simple, brutal, and hard to defend against. But she had held back, choosing blunt weapons over sharp ones, giving Levi a chance to survive.

Yife's attack was so sudden that Levi didn't even have time to use his teleportation. Skills requiring mental power were not as quick as the body's reflexes. He raised the black decorative gun he had been holding, swinging it like a dagger. The clanging of metal echoed as he deflected the sticks from the left, then took advantage of the brief pause to leap out of the golden hair's encirclement in an ungraceful manner.

"Yife, I'm sorry, stop it, let's go home and eat!"

After escaping, Levi, drenched in cold sweat, leaned against a tree and pitifully apologized to the girl. Chao Lingyin's technology had once again been proven effective. The young killer, whom he had never considered a significant threat to heroes, had, after just a few hours of treatment, put him in a difficult battle.

The girl's speed, transformation speed, and flexibility were far beyond what he had seen initially. Especially the process of changing her body through willpower, which happened without any warning, truly made her a weapon from head to toe, impossible to guard against. More importantly, the force of Yife's attacks, the heavy impact of the iron rods, though not as powerful as those of a Berserker or Cloud, compensated with their density. Levi was grateful that he had used his left hand, which he was most skilled with, rather than his right hand, which had been broken twice in just a few days. Otherwise, he might not even be able to hold his gun now.

Chao Lingyin, truly a terrifying genius!
