Chufeyue held back Qinyue, who was a bit worried, and almost got dragged over by her.
"Don't worry, didn't you see that they're not worried at all?"
He pointed to the old man Aike who was watching the show and the old man Dick who was calmly observing the magic wall opposite his own flame wall.
"They can't possibly kill each other. That old man in the white coat will definitely be fine... at least he won't die."
Sure enough, after a gust of wind blew away the dust, Link still stood firm.
"Hah—" A black mist was expelled from his mouth.
"Damn it... Dick, I won't let you off." After saying this, he collapsed and fainted. His clothes turned to ash and scattered as he fell, leaving only a black, trash-like object behind.
"Ha ha ha, the mayor's dazzling missile is truly powerful; Link had no chance to resist." Dick walked over, laughing, and poked Link with his staff a few times. "Get two people to carry him back; he won't wake up for a while."
After watching a few elite NPC extras carry the fainted Link away, Dick turned to the mess in the magic guild hall and started to feel a headache.
"Really, every time you come, you make such a mess... and we have to wait for Aike to clean up... Oh, Aike, you're just in time, did you bring a guest?"
He finally noticed Aike and our protagonist, who had been standing aside for a long time.
"Thanks to you, we got to enjoy a feast of scheming." Aike nodded at Dick, pulled out a small purple-golden magic wand from his chest, and waved it casually. Suddenly, everything in the room came to life: books flew back to the shelves, the fallen crystal chandelier stood up and flew to the ceiling, candles rolled and jumped back into their holders, and papers and quills floated back to their original positions. Even the crater where Link had stood was filled in by jumping stones. With just a couple of waves, the room that had been in ruins was restored to its former order.
These old men are really amazing.
Chufeyue and Qinyue looked at each other and read the same thought in each other's eyes.
"Tsk tsk, every time I see your restoration magic, I get so frustrated... our research these past few days was for nothing." Dick picked up a notebook from the table, waved it at Aike, and then threw it back down. While staring at Aike, he also glanced at Chufeyue, and his gaze was drawn to her like a magnet.
"Oh my, a goddess candidate! Aike, why didn't you say so earlier? I don't believe Link would still be acting up if he knew a candidate was here." Dick took a few steps closer and carefully examined Chufeyue. "You look so much like her, except for the hair..."
"Yep, the candidate has arrived... I just came to watch the show, what can you do about it? Ha ha." Aike wrapped himself in his cloak and disappeared with a "poof."
"Hello, Grandpa Dick, we were introduced by Sister Aurelia. She said you could teach us some things." Chufeyue explained their purpose.
"You?" Dick looked around and frowned. "You met Aike at Lady Aurelia's?"
"It's me and my sister... can't you see her?" Chufeyue looked at his sister, who was tiptoeing to pinch Dick's big nose, and instinctively dodged.
"Can't see her, is someone invisible nearby? Impossible, the mage tower's built-in detection can even see demons." It seemed Dick really couldn't see Qinyue, and no one knew why.
"Let's just leave it, Grandpa. My sister's situation is quite special." Chufeyue interrupted Dick, who had already started closing his eyes and feeling around.
Actually, Chufeyue found this old man quite likable. He never forgot to research and would immediately dive into a new problem, a spirit that every outstanding mad scientist possessed.
But, that also meant he would forget about them... which wasn't a good feeling.
"Alright, listen to the grown-ups." Dick opened his eyes, a bit disappointed. "You just came out of the beginner's village, right? I teach new skills to beginner mages every 10 levels before level 30. How many you can learn depends on your aptitude."
Saying this, he pulled out a key and opened a door next to the bookshelf. The locks clicked, and the door fell straight to the ground, turning into a book.
A book that can disguise itself as a door...
Dick had dodged a bit too slowly and almost got hit by the "door." Fortunately, Chufeyue used the Mage's Hand to prop it up, giving him time to escape.
"Phew, I'm getting old, really old." Dick pounded his old back and caught his breath. "The magic you used to help me move the book just now is the Mage's Hand, a mental magic. It's called the most useful and the most useless magic."
"The most useful and the most useless? Why is that?"
"Because it's incredibly useful in daily life, but if you want to use it in combat, the mana cost is too high. Only the goddess has ever used it in battle." Dick said casually, put on his reading glasses, and started flipping through the huge magic book. "Oh, oh, found it, here. The skills you can learn at level 10 are on page 8642."
After struggling to flip to the page, Dick gestured for Chufeyue to place his hand on it.
"Legacy of Estori Magic Book (Original): Epic. Codex. Touch it to learn the skills suitable for you, more effective than a copy."
As Chufeyue pressed "True Fantasy" on the book, two white lights appeared on the "door" and his forehead.
A large amount of information flowed through Chufeyue's head via the two connected white lights and was absorbed by his brain.
"You have learned the following skills from the Legacy of Estori Magic Book: Psionic Arrow, Bursting Fireball, Frost Nova, Whirlwind Armor, and Earth Spike."
"Psionic Arrow: Form an invisible arrow with mental energy to shoot enemies, suitable for stealth and assassination. The power depends on your mana output, no incantation, no cooldown."
"Bursting Fireball: An upgraded version of the small fireball, with enhanced explosion power and range. The power depends on your mana output and elemental concentration."
"Frost Nova: Accumulate a frozen elemental cluster and detonate it when needed to freeze surrounding enemies. The power depends on your mana output and crystal elemental concentration."
"Whirlwind Armor: Summon wind blades around your body that automatically launch to counterattack when you are attacked. The number and damage of the wind blades depend on your mana output and elemental concentration."
"Earth Spike: Summon earth spikes from the ground to pierce enemies. The power depends on your mana output and elemental concentration, and it has a fast activation speed."
So, skills can be learned from books, can they be learned from library books as well?
But the Bursting Fireball and Earth Spike... it seems Chufeyue has already used them before.
