Chapter 1: Red and Gold

7 min read1,798 words

During the Qingming Festival, the drizzle was light and continuous.

Yin Jian, with a tinge of sorrow, went to attend the funeral of a roommate who had died suddenly in the middle of the night.

But while crossing the crosswalk,

a dump truck, whether intentionally or by accident, suddenly entered his field of vision, heading straight for him.

"I'm probably going to die."

In his terror, Yin Jian felt as if time had slowed down.

His field of vision was first filled with the truck's hood, then a dizzying spin, and finally he fell into endless darkness.

*

Saijia New Era 2077.

(The Saijia planet entered a new era of superficial peace, marked by the signing of a non-aggression pact by the Cloud Empire, the Mechanized Empire, the Natural Empire, the Beast Empire, the Holy Empire, and other empires, establishing the High National Council.)

Buzz, buzz, buzz

When Yin Jian regained consciousness, the darkness in his field of vision gradually dissipated. He felt a fuzzy mind, still lingering with the pain of being crushed and the roar of the heavy truck.

His vision was filled with distorted and overlapping shadows, and his ears were filled with countless overlapping noises.

As time passed, these noises gradually faded away.

Yin Jian's consciousness slowly cleared.

"Am I not dead?"

Yin Jian thought, somewhat bewildered.

At the same time, the ground lightly trembled, as if a massive creature had moved.

As the tremor occurred, a heavy breathing sound reached Yin Jian's ears.

Accompanied by the breathing, a warm and slightly scorching breath, mixed with bright sparks, sprayed onto Yin Jian's body from the side.

When he felt this breath, he still turned his head in a daze.

The next second, a pair of vertical red pupils appeared in Yin Jian's eyes.

In addition, there were crisscrossing fangs and a pair of rugged, winding dragon horns.

Sss!

Like being splashed with a bucket of cold water in winter, Yin Jian suddenly shivered, drew a sharp breath, and his heart almost stopped.

A terrifying red dragon appeared in Yin Jian's real field of vision.

The red dragon was over thirty meters long, like a red hill lying horizontally, with a fierce appearance.

Its two pupils were like hot lava balls, and its tightly packed dark red dragon scales resembled gems, like clusters of burning flames, emitting a faint luster. Many layers of dragon scales were closely interlocked, exuding a strong sulfur smell, revealing an impregnable defense.

Sparks spurted from the red dragon's nostrils and fang gaps.

Its breathing was so real, and each red scale was so vivid that the overwhelming pressure almost felt tangible, making Yin Jian feel as if he were falling into an abyss.

The red dragon stared at Yin Jian quietly, as if waiting for something.

Yin Jian, filled with fear, instinctively moved his claws, taking a few steps back, and at the same time, heard the sound of something being crushed.

Huh?

Claws?

Yin Jian was slightly stunned.

He looked down and saw a pair of dragon claws, covered with scales like tiny diamonds, entering his field of vision.

"This..."

Before Yin Jian could think more, a large amount of information suddenly burst into his mind, like a tidal wave, overwhelming his spirit.

His eyes instantly became blank and dazed.

"You are a gold dragon, the leader of metal dragons, the leader of benevolent dragons."

This first piece of information quickly disappeared, incomplete. Then more complete information flooded into Yin Jian's mind.

"You are a red dragon, the leader of the five-colored dragons, the leader of malevolent dragons, the most powerful race in the endless worlds of the multiverse."

"From the moment of your birth, you are destined to be a king. The world awaits your rule, and all races await your enslavement."

"..."

"Before you, all beings will bow down, either out of fear or loyalty."

"Earthly creatures should obey your commands. The only purpose of all races is to please you and serve you as king. Otherwise, they should not exist."

"..."

A flood of information surged into Yin Jian's mind, continuously washing over his soul, merging with his existing knowledge, gradually forming a unique worldview.

Looking back at the red dragon in his field of vision, Yin Jian's eyes returned to normal.

He gradually understood everything.

At this moment, he was no longer human.

He had become a dragon.

The red dragon before him was his dragon mother, the leader of the five-colored dragons, the red dragon.

The red dragon mother stared intently at Yin Jian.

Under her gaze, Yin Jian quickly opened his dragon mouth and, in a deep tone, said a long string of words: "Sarga Gatanjea Atrox Diablo Nekserus Targaryen Alzues!"

The long string of names he spoke was his true dragon name.

A dragon's true name is often very long.

There was once a widely known story about a dragon's true name.

A seasoned thief, after enduring great hardships and losing an arm and a leg, finally sneaked into an adult dragon's lair and stole a book rumored to contain the source of a true dragon's power, the "Book of Dragons." When he excitedly brought the "Book of Dragons" to a spellcaster who knew dragon language for analysis, he was shocked to find that the entire book was just the dragon's name, recorded out of boredom.

At the end of the "Book of Dragons," the dragon wrote in a mocking tone that the rumor about the "Book of Dragons" was intentionally spread to amuse himself. The thief, upon learning the truth, died of shock and anger.

To return to the main point.

The information he just received is called the Dragon Heritage, which is the certification of a true dragon's identity and the power that allows a hatchling to understand the world from birth.

All true dragons, upon birth, immediately receive the Dragon Heritage and then speak their true name, proving that they are intelligent beings who have received the Dragon Heritage, rather than mindless dragon beasts.

If a hatchling cannot speak its true name, it will be abandoned by the dragon mother.

Without the protection of a dragon mother, a hatchling cannot survive long in this perilous world.

All true dragons are intelligent magical creatures, at the top of the food chain, and are born knowing dragon language and the common language of the continent.

As for dragon beasts, they are true dragons who failed to receive the Dragon Heritage, with their brains damaged, or unfortunate individuals who underwent malignant mutations.

"Sarga Gatanjea Atrox Diablo Nekserus Targaryen Alzues."

He repeated his true name in his mind, feeling somewhat complex.

"Since Yin Jian has reincarnated as a dragon, this name is no longer suitable for me."

"From now on, I will be known as Sarga, the true dragon Sarga."

"In the Saijia New Era 2077... I, Sarga Alzues, will begin a new dragon life, good or bad, on this planet called Saijia, with the body of a true dragon."

The Dragon Heritage is the knowledge passed down from generation to generation by true dragons, including their understanding of the world, self-awareness, and methods of combat and survival.

The content of the heritage, accumulated over thousands of years, is vast and extensive.

Compared to this, Sarga's twenty years of human experience are like grains of sand in a river. Even though he had an independent worldview before receiving the heritage, and the Dragon Heritage is not all transmitted at once, he was still significantly influenced.

In fact, Sarga was somewhat unclear whether the human named Yin Jian had received the dragon's heritage and occupied the body of a true dragon, or whether the soul of the hatchling named Sarga had devoured the human's will and gained the human's memory, or whether the two had merged into one, indistinguishable from each other.

However, these things were not important. Sarga was good at putting things he couldn't understand out of his mind, and time would naturally give him answers as he grew.

"However, there was a message in my heritage that flashed by."

"It seemed to say that I am a gold dragon."

"Could it be because my dragon father is a gold dragon? Or do I have a weak gold dragon bloodline in my ancestry?"

There was no dragon father in the lair, and Sarga only saw the red dragon mother.

In the heritage he just received, there was no mention of any information about Sarga's dragon father.

"But the gold dragon heritage was just one sentence, and the rest was all red dragon heritage."

"I should be a red dragon, right? Something is not right."

Sarga recalled the heritage he received and, with the help of the reflections from some transparent firestones embedded in the lair, saw his appearance, feeling somewhat astonished.

The newly hatched dragon hatchling had a large head, a short neck, and small wings. His body was round and somewhat short and thick. He had three pairs of small, sharp dragon horns on his head, which were not fully grown but already looked very unique, as most dragons only have one pair of horns, and the lowest of the five-colored dragons, the white dragons, have no horns at all.

The little hatchling flapped his small wings and jumped, but could not fly, only managing to hover a few inches off the ground.

Compared to the majestic and powerful red dragon mother, the newly hatched dragon looked somewhat cute, with every movement endearing.

What troubled Sarga the most was the color of his scales.

Little Sarga's scales were not the fiery red of a red dragon, but a dazzling, brilliant golden color.

"Why am I golden?"

"Am I a red dragon or a gold dragon?"

"Do I really have gold dragon ancestors?"

"No, gold dragon scales are not like mine."

Sarga pondered.

The hatchling's body was covered with golden scales, like tiny diamonds, tightly interlocked, unlike the scales of ordinary red dragons. The face mask, covered with fine scales, had a pair of golden eyes, like those of a gold dragon, emitting a brilliant light, like burning golden flames, adding a touch of authority to the cute little hatchling.

To describe it specifically,

Sarga's appearance resembled a red dragon covered in golden, diamond-like scales.

The golden scales made Sarga look like a gold dragon, but gold dragon scales are irregularly embedded circles, more like fish scales.

Sarga's scales, however, were like countless irregular, multifaceted crystals, uniquely and unprecedentedly combined and embedded. Each scale seemed to have countless irregular, asymmetrical, and interlocking small facets, with a texture like a dreamy and beautiful diamond, reflecting light, sparkling and bright, and emitting a dazzling and brilliant golden luster.

Young reader, congratulations, you have discovered a treasure.
