Chapter 70

Chapter 69: Strategic Planning (Part 1)

"Ridiculous, using power for personal gain! The sect absolutely does not allow such things!" Before the other elders could speak, Cao Xiong immediately shouted in response to Li Qiyi's request.

Imperial techniques, these could be considered exclusive to the elders. Even enforcers were not allowed to practice core imperial techniques. Now, a third-generation disciple was demanding to practice core imperial techniques, which Cao Xiong naturally found unacceptable.

Li Qiyi glanced at him and slowly said, "Elder Cao, if you can recover the core imperial technique, and if the disciples could make the decision, I would agree, not just for Elder Cao's disciples, but even for Elder Cao's grand-disciples to practice this core imperial technique. Oh, I forgot, Elder Cao no longer has any disciples, let alone grand-disciples."

Li Qiyi's words stung Cao Xiong, who immediately changed his expression, his face contorted, and he stood up, shouting, "Little brat, you're courting death!"

"Elder Cao—" the Great Elder Gu Tieshou sternly said, "Qiyi is just a child, there's no need to take him seriously!"

If it were before, Cao Xiong wouldn't have taken the Great Elder Gu Tieshou too seriously. Now, knowing that the Great Elder was not only a king but a seasoned one, and had even cultivated the 'Six Transformations of Kunpeng,' Cao Xiong became extremely wary. He was absolutely no match for Gu Tieshou.

"Senior Brother Gu, you are being too lenient with this rebellious brat. He will eventually become a thorn in our side!" Cao Xiong said resentfully.

"Words of a child, Elder Cao, there's no need to take them to heart." At this moment, Gu Tieshou was clearly favoring Li Qiyi. Not only Gu Tieshou, but the other four elders also openly favored Li Qiyi, which made Cao Xiong inwardly furious.

After discussing Li Qiyi's request, the Great Elder and the others finally agreed to it. They told Li Qiyi, "Since you are using your own merits to offset this matter, after the council's discussion, we agree to your request. Mo Enforcer has been loyal to our sect for so long, and he has always been devoted. He can now practice the 'Ten Suns of Purple Yang.' As for Nan Huairen, he can also practice it, but not now. We will test him for a few more years, and if there are no issues, he can practice this technique."

The happiest person was Elder Sun. Mo Enforcer was his disciple, and Nan Huairen was his grand-disciple. Now, both had the资格 to practice the 'Ten Suns of Purple Yang.' As a master, how could he not be delighted?

Cao Xiong was inwardly furious. Now, he was almost alone. His disciples, Hu Enforcer and He Yingjian, had both been killed by Li Qiyi. He wanted to tear Li Qiyi to pieces, but at this critical moment, Li Qiyi had just achieved a great feat and had become a key figure for the sect to cultivate and protect, making it difficult for him to seek revenge for his disciples.

Upon hearing the news, Mo Enforcer and Nan Huairen were so excited they couldn't speak. At this moment, they were deeply moved. Not long ago, Li Qiyi had said that he would definitely let them practice the 'Ten Suns of Purple Yang' within a year. They never expected it to happen so quickly, and it felt like a dream to them.

At this moment, they felt that choosing to follow Li Qiyi was the wisest decision of their lives. If others had known about their decision, they would have laughed at them for being crazy, as enforcers following a third-generation disciple, especially one with an ordinary body and fate.

Now, their efforts had finally paid off. Li Qiyi had rewarded their loyalty and dedication with generous returns!

"Senior Brother, how did you manage this?" Nan Huairen, upon receiving the order, was extremely excited and came to see Li Qiyi with his master.

"It's a small matter, what's the difficulty?" Li Qiyi smiled and said.

Nan Huairen was overjoyed. Imperial techniques, core imperial techniques—such things were highly coveted. He said in disbelief, "Senior Brother, how did you recover the imperial technique? Was it really because the ancestor appeared in a dream?"

The news of the ancestor appearing in a dream was kept secret by the upper echelons of the sect, and Nan Huairen had only learned about it from his grandmaster, Elder Sun.

"Would I benefit from lying to you?" Li Qiyi smiled and said.

"Senior Brother's great kindness I cannot repay. Whenever Senior Brother gives an order, I will face any danger without hesitation," Nan Huairen said excitedly.

Li Qiyi glanced at him and said, "Flattery again. If you were not loyal to me, would I grant you the imperial technique?"

Despite being scolded by Li Qiyi, Nan Huairen was not offended and laughed. As for Mo Enforcer, he was naturally a man of few words and not good at formalities. He only bowed deeply to Li Qiyi without saying anything else.

Li Shuangyan, who had become Li Qiyi's sword servant, had been observing everything coldly. She was speechless, as she had been a bystander to all the recent events.

What Li Qiyi had demonstrated was not astonishing talent or innate abilities, but rather extraordinary means and astonishing strategies.

With his actions, he had reversed the situation, becoming the most important resource of the Xianyan Ancient Sect. He had killed three hall masters, Hu Enforcer, and He Yingjian, and had managed to escape unscathed, effortlessly foiling Cao Xiong's plot and resolving the crisis. It seemed like a casual move, but in fact, it was filled with remarkable wisdom.

Such seasoned and decisive actions, such fluid planning—was this still a thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy? Everything he did was incredible, from killing He Yingjian to forcing Cao Xiong. Each step was executed with the grace of a flowing cloud, leaving no trace, not at all like a young man, but rather a wise sage who saw through everything.

This made Li Shuangyan inwardly moved. Before coming to the Xianyan Ancient Sect, she thought her master, Lunri Demon Emperor, valued Li Qiyi for his knowledge of some secrets. Now, it seemed that was not the case!

At this moment, Li Shuangyan recalled a saying: in the long journey of cultivation, the most important thing is not one's constitution, lifespan, or destiny. It seemed that this saying was being proven true in Li Qiyi.

Li Shuangyan remained silent. She had been with Li Qiyi for some time, but the longer she stayed, the more she found him unfathomable.

As a genius and a pride of heaven, she had always been proud of her talent and insight. But now, observing the ordinary-bodied and fated Li Qiyi, even she was speechless! If she were in his place, she might not have such means, such a comprehensive grasp of the situation, and such a decisive strategy. This was not about talent or insight, but great wisdom, the sedimentation of time.

The most frustrating thing was that such wisdom appeared in this thirteen or fourteen-year-old boy, which left Li Shuangyan, the pride of heaven, feeling powerless.

If Li Qiyi had been born with a royal body and a holy destiny like her, he would have already swept through the nine heavens and ten earths!

However, this matter was not over. Killing three hall masters, one enforcer, and the sect's most outstanding disciple, He Yingjian, was a huge event in any sect.

To resolve this matter, the six elders of the Xianyan Ancient Sect specially convened a meeting, and Li Qiyi was allowed to attend.

Undoubtedly, in the hearts of the elders, Li Qiyi had become extremely important. Except for Cao Xiong, the other elders believed that Li Qiyi would be the key to the revival of the Xianyan Ancient Sect!

"This was a misunderstanding," the Great Elder Gu Tieshou concluded. In fact, before making this conclusion, the Great Elder and the others had privately discussed it, but they had excluded Cao Xiong from their discussions.

In the past, the other four elders had been somewhat disappointed and shaken by the Great Elder's decline. However, after this incident, the four elders had united and strongly supported the Great Elder. This incident also made the four elders suspicious of Cao Xiong, as he had been too close to Dong Shenglong, which left a bad impression on the elders.

The Xianyan Ancient Sect and the Holy Heaven Sect were mortal enemies. Although the two sects had not engaged in war for ten thousand years, the Xianyan Ancient Sect still viewed the Holy Heaven Sect as a great enemy!

Cao Xiong's closeness to Dong Shenglong had drawn the disapproval of the other elders.

"Although this was a misunderstanding, if we let it go, it might be hard to convince the disciples. The deaths of three hall masters, one enforcer, and a talented disciple are a heavy loss for our entire sect!" At this moment, Cao Xiong was inwardly bleeding, but he was helpless. He had lost everything in this matter and had even brought trouble upon himself. After this incident, he knew that the four elders had turned against him!

"What more does Elder Cao want?" Gu Tieshou said discontentedly.

In fact, the other elders and even the enforcers now suspected that this entire incident was orchestrated by Cao Xiong. However, without concrete evidence, they could not accuse him and could only call it a misunderstanding.

"Brotherhood turned to fratricide is a misfortune for the sect. If Li Qiyi is not punished at all, it might make all the disciples uneasy and think we are acting rashly and disregarding human life. Since it was a misunderstanding, we will not severely punish Li Qiyi, but a light punishment is necessary to maintain the trust of the disciples," Cao Xiong said solemnly.

Cao Xiong's words made the five elders exchange glances. Although they were suspicious of Cao Xiong, they admitted that his words made sense. They had also had similar thoughts, as the deaths of three hall masters, one enforcer, and He Yingjian were too significant to be dismissed as a mere misunderstanding.

Gu Tieshou and the others had considered giving Li Qiyi a trivial punishment as a way to account to all the disciples.
