Chapter 50

In the vicinity of the Zeat fort, a group of determined soldiers, led by Barbarot, were holding back the monster panic.

Numerous corpses littered the ground, and above them, monsters and knights were engaged in battle. While the knights were superior in quality, the monsters vastly outnumbered them. The group of monsters, starting with goblins, was growing larger, and it seemed that the determined soldiers alone could not hold them back.

Several monsters were already heading towards Zeat. The fort, functioning as a defensive stronghold, had not been breached, but the gate, the entrance to Zeat, was deformed by the monsters' attacks.

"AAAAAAAAAA!!!

Do not let them break through any further!

If the gate is broken, it's all over!"

Barbarot swept away the monsters attacking the gate. However, no matter how hard Barbarot fought, the sheer number of monsters made it only a matter of time before the fort was breached.

The situation was already dire, and then came an even more devastating report.

"We've spotted Goblin Mages and Goblin Knights!"

"What!?

Higher-level types are here...!"

"It's Trolls!

Trolls have appeared!!"

"What!?

Damn... this far, huh."

Goblins with job titles exist and are recorded as higher-level types among goblins. Goblin Mages, as their name suggests, can use magic and can even kill higher-level monsters, but they are extremely weak in close combat. The standard procedure is to approach and kill them before they can cast spells. Goblin Knights, on the other hand, are goblins equipped with armor and swords, similar to knights. They excel in close combat, and the standard procedure is to kill them from a distance with arrows or magic.

"Damn, damn!"

A knight fighting a Goblin Knight cursed. Normally, Goblin Knights would not make reckless charges, but now, having lost their reason, they were rampaging like beasts.

"GYAAAAAA!?"

"GGGGGGGGGGGGG!?"

"What!?

He cast a spell and hit his own allies!"

The knight fighting the Goblin Knight was enveloped in a fireball that suddenly flew towards him and rolled on the ground. The Goblin Knight, on the other hand, was reduced to ashes by the fire.

"These... these bastards!"

The knights felt a deep anger at such inhumane behavior. However, unlike a parade of monsters, the monsters here had lost all sense of camaraderie, and the knights were reminded once again of their cruelty.

"Trolls! Surround them!!!"

Elsewhere, the knights were dealing with the appearance of Trolls. Trolls are considered weaker than Ogres, but in reality, they are more troublesome. Trolls have a regenerative ability, making them difficult to kill without magic. To kill a Troll without magic, one must either continue to kill it until its magic power is exhausted or cut it into pieces so small that it cannot regenerate.

Therefore, as long as they have magic power, Trolls are more formidable enemies than Ogres.

"Cut off their legs! We have to immobilize them and buy time!"

Trolls appeared one after another, mocking the knights' desperate efforts. There was no hope left; only despair remained.

Then, to make matters worse, Ogres appeared. One, two, three, and more emerged from the forest.

The determined soldiers were prepared to die, but they had not anticipated such a dire situation. They were about to drop their swords, resigned to being trampled by the monster army.

But at that moment—

"Do not give up!!!

We are the proud knights of the Algabein Kingdom!

Will our pride be shattered by mere monsters?

We have dedicated our swords to our homeland and those we love!

Therefore, it is time to stand with pride!

I will gladly offer my life if it can be the foundation of peace!

But my life will not be so easily taken by the likes of you, monsters AAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

—Barbarot, who had been defending the gate alone, shouted and charged forward.

Wearing armor stained with blood and wielding a blood-soaked sword, Barbarot leaped into the center of the gathering monsters.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Like a demon, Barbarot rampaged. The battlefield, where only enemies existed, freed Barbarot from all restraints. As Barbarot swung his sword wildly, fresh blood splattered and rained down.

Barbarot's eyes, now completely red, glared at his next target. His speed, enhanced by physical reinforcement, was too fast for the mindless monsters to catch.

One, two, three heads of monsters flew through the air. The sight was terrifying, but it gave the knights a great boost of morale.

The flame of determination, which had almost been extinguished, reignited in their hearts. With renewed resolve, the knights faced the monsters.

*We are here!

With pride in our hearts!

We will wield our swords!

Let us go forth!!!*

The determined soldiers had decided to make this their final stand. They had always known this would be their end, but deep down, they had hoped for reinforcements. However, seeing Barbarot's efforts, that hope vanished.

Reinforcements were unnecessary.

We will show our strength here.

The final confrontation between the mindless monsters and the determined soldiers, filled with fiery resolve, began.

Barbarot, displaying a lion's fierce effort, was fighting multiple Ogres alone. The Ogres tried to kill Barbarot, but they were no match for his speed. One by one, the Ogres were slain.

Barbarot then stopped targeting the Ogres and turned his attention to the Trolls. Trolls have a troublesome regenerative ability, but they are not as strong as Ogres. However, compared to orcs, they are still quite powerful. If caught, they could be crushed and killed instantly.

But catching the current Barbarot was an impossible task. Trolls could not capture him. However, Trolls were not easy to deal with. No matter how many times Barbarot cut them, they would regenerate.

"So what!?

If that's the case, I will cut you faster than you can regenerate!!!"

No matter how many times the Trolls tried to regenerate, Barbarot cut them faster. He repeatedly cut them, eventually surpassing their regenerative speed and reducing them to pieces.

His words were backed by action. Barbarot, without slowing down, reduced the next Troll to pieces. The knights, inspired by Barbarot's overwhelming strength, were also spurred on.

The battle between the monsters and the determined soldiers intensified.
