“This is the territory we’ll be living in from now on. Just like how I have dreamt of. I’m so happy, that I could puke. Isn’t that right, Matilda?”

“That’s exactly what you say, Noein-sama.”

Noein Arkvist threw away his impressions in front of the forest that continued deep and dense like some fool.

The one who showed her agreement beside him was Matilda, a rabbit woman who was a slave owned by him and also his only follower as of now.

“No point in lamenting, then. Let’s take our first steps into this lovely fucking territory right away, Matilda. “

“Hai, I will serve you to the fullest extent, Noein-sama.”

That said, there isn’t even a beast trail in this untouched forest let alone any humans.

It’s not Noein who takes the actual first step, but the wood golem that he controls. In other words, a wooden doll.

There are two dolls that are over two meters tall and have the strength to match their size. They stand in front of him, pulling out bushes, snapping off branches that get in the way, and stomping on grass as the dolls walk forward.

Behind it was Noein, behind whom was Matilda and at the end, another wood golem that imitated a horse, drawing a small wagon.

Three months earlier, in the southern part of the Kingdom of Lordberg. In the territory of Count Kivileft, Noein confronted Count Maximilian Kivileft, the current head of the Count Kivileft family and his own father.

There is no ease or familiarity as a father and son, but rather a rough atmosphere that can best be described as ‘confrontation’.

“…It’s been a long time, Noein”

“Yes, father…No, His Excellency Count Kivileft.”

“Although you were born to a servant, you still share my blood. It’s really annoying…That’s why I fed you until you came of age at 15. This is the end of it. So, this is the last time I see that hateful face today. “

Noein keeps a smile in front of the nervous man who wears a bitter expression. The man continues to say

“… But for the time being, you’re also a blood-split son. I’m not sure if you’ve seen it before, I’m going to give you a small enclave of land that was once given to our count family by the king, and the Title of Knighthood with it. You can cultivate it or do whatever you want with it.”

Count Maximilian smirked while speaking graciously.

It sounds good to hear ‘Enclave of land and a knighthood’, but in reality, it’s just a piece of forest on the outskirts of the kingdom and a curse to be tied to.

This is the land that the Count family had been holding on to because they couldn’t leave the land given to them by the king, also they didn’t want to get involved in a project like cultivating an enclave that would cost a lot of money and provide little to no benefit.

If he gave it to Noein and severed ties with him, he could dispose of his son and the land at once. Count Maximilian thought so.

Of course, Noein knew that such a twisted situation was involved.

“I’ll give you some money for your trouble…now is that clear.?”

“I have only one more request…May I have one slave of the Count family?”

Noein’s father was Count Kivileft, who ruled one of the best territories in the southern part of the kingdom, but his mother was a poor commoner woman.

His mother, who worked for the Count’s family as a servant at the time, was a good-looking woman in her own right. Maximilian Kivileft, who was younger and more thoughtless than he is now, tried his hand at the woman with the intention of snacking on her.

And the boy that was born was Noein.

Normally, even if a child is born to a servant, it is usually just a matter of paying a small fee or consolation money to get rid of the relationship.

Noein’s mother, however, was very clever. As soon as she was pregnant with the Count’s child, she spread rumors about it within the house and the Count’s territory, and created a situation where the Count had no choice but to recognize Noein as his bastard child.

Her mother, who had managed to become a concubine, lived a life of luxury, a great success for a woman from a poor background, while showing no affection for her child Noein, who was nothing more than a ‘tool to become a concubine for a great aristocrat’. She died due to an epidemic when Noein was nine years old, and the life that awaited Noein was simply boring.

The Count of Kivileft is an anxious man, as his son Noein would say.

Although he feels that Noein is a hindrance to him, he does not have the guts to commit the forbidden act of ‘killing his own blood-related child with his own hands’, a child who is known to everyone around him as a bastard child.

However, he can’t resist the complaint of his wife, the Countess, who says,

“Keep that concubine’s child away from our family.”

As a result of this, Noein was confined to a remote house built on the edge of the count’s property, given a small allowance, and kept as a tame child, spending the next six years of his adult life without seeing his father, stepmother, or half-brother.

Books and golems helped to alleviate the boredom of these days.

Noein sent his slave Matilda, who had become his caretaker, on errands to borrow books from the Count’s study and absorb various knowledge from them – knowledge that would be useful after he grew up and was kicked out of the Count’s house.

He also received a “blessing” at the church when he was ten years old, as all royal citizens do, and learned that he had a not-so-pleasant ability called “puppet magic talent”.

In order to make the most of his magical talent, he saved up the allowance his father gave him to create a golem and became obsessed with learning to control it.

On his fifteenth birthday, his father visits Noein at his remote house built on the edge of the count’s property, and for the first time in six years the father and son meet face to face, and the story jumps back to the previous scene.

It’s not that Noein is not grateful to his father for feeding him until he reached adulthood, even if it was for twisted reasons.

At the very least, he could say that his father did a much better job as a parent than his mother, who was greedy and thought only of her own amusement.

On the other hand, he also harbored resentment towards his father, who had taken away all of his freedom as a boy for reasons that were beyond Noein’s control, such as the fact that he was the ‘child of a concubine’.

He also despised his father’s petty and anxious nature, who simply lacked the dignity and sense of responsibility as the head of a large noble family.

In addition, at the time of farewell, the tone of gratitude and graciousness was used to impose Noein to the title to chain him to the remote area.

(Noein’s Perspective)

Even though I owe him for keeping me alive and feeding me, I hate him more.

Nevertheless, I am now cut off from that house. I would never have to feel the existence of my father again.

About three months had passed since I left home, and I arrived at the northwestern edge of the Kingdom of Lordberg, in the Viscount Konitz territory.

Dividing the Kingdom of Lordberg and its neighboring country to the west is the great forest of Bezel, which stretches out a long way in the north-south direction.

A piece of it, just west of the Viscount Konitz’s territory, was the territory given to Baron Noein Arkvist.

After greeting the current Viscount Konitz, who was to be my “neighbor as a nobleman,” I went into the forest that I own.

As he traced the path trodden by the golem, Noein was determined to “live a happier and more loving life than that fucking father.”
