When the keeper came to check, Feng Yi had already left. Only a few visitors were standing at a distance, looking over, seemingly puzzled as to why they couldn't see the golden python.
Visitors who had come with high expectations were indeed confused. According to the internet, the golden python, Niuniu, was usually very active, but now there was no sign of her. They had originally planned to take some photos to share on social media, but now they were disappointed.
The keeper sized up the visitors who had passed by, thinking none of them seemed capable of upsetting Niuniu. He returned to the back and, after some thought, called his colleague who was in charge of the surveillance.
"Check the footage for Niuniu's area and see who was there just now, and what they did. Look at the footage from two minutes ago."
The zoo took the sudden mood change of the golden python very seriously and quickly reviewed the surveillance to find the cause, hoping to prevent it from happening again.
Soon, the surveillance team gave a response.
"Two minutes ago, there was indeed a young man there, and he was alone. He was wearing a mask, so his face wasn't clear, but he didn't do anything unusual. He just stared at Niuniu for a long time and waved at her. After he waved, Niuniu got upset and left... That's about it. I'll send you the footage."
The footage was sent over.
The keeper watched it and confirmed that there was no threatening behavior or anything that could easily cause a misunderstanding.
"That's strange. Niuniu was really upset just now, and she hasn't calmed down yet. Could it be the wave? But that doesn't make sense."
The keeper went to check the facilities in the indoor enclosure, but found no issues with the forest-style mansion.
"That's really odd."
While the keeper was still trying to figure out why the golden python had suddenly become upset, Feng Yi had already left the snake area and was looking at other reptiles.
In comparison, furry animals were cuter.
Before leaving the zoo, Feng Yi saw some small shops selling animal-themed items, including golden python car decorations. One item caught his eye—a tower-shaped spring snake that would bounce up and down when touched.
There were different materials for the same design, including a realistic one with detailed scales and a plush version that was less realistic but cuter.
Feng Yi chose the plush version. When he drove home, he could see the snake bouncing up and down in his car.
After dealing with the venom and venom issues, and taking a walk around the zoo, Feng Yi was in a good mood. Before heading home, he found a restaurant and had a big meal.
During the meal, he received a call from Wu Ji, asking about the tea.
"I brought the tea you gave me to the shop. You said to let it sit for a couple of days before drinking it, but I forgot about it. Yesterday, Old Liu came to my shop to show off his new fishing catch. He found the tea interesting and hadn't tried it before, so I brewed some for him to try."
Wu Ji sounded excited, "As soon as we tasted it, we knew it was special! The aroma and flavor were incredible, and the most important thing is that it made us feel refreshed and invigorated! It washed away all the fatigue! I'm not talking about the kind of stimulation from drugs, but rather like having a refreshing hot spring bath and a full-body massage, followed by a good night's sleep, waking up feeling light and energetic!
"Old Liu said that drinking this tea felt like having a sauna. He used to love saunas when he was young, but now that he's older, he can't do it as often due to various restrictions. He usually needs a few days to rest after fishing. Yesterday, after drinking the tea, I gave him a little bit, and today he went fishing again! He even called me to say he wants to buy more tea!"
"Of course, I didn't give him any! I brewed it for my parents, and after they drank it, they said their backaches and leg pains were gone! Of course, that's an exaggeration, but the relief was real. Feng Yi, is this some kind of... secret traditional tea-making technique? This tea must be quite expensive, right? Can the person who made it sell more? I'll buy it!"
Feng Yi was surprised. The tea had such effects? He hadn't felt that much when he drank it. It mainly helped with pain relief and mental clarity.
"I'll ask. But the chances of him selling are low. I tried to buy some from him before, and he refused," Feng Yi said.
"Alright, just check if he has more and if he's willing to sell. The price is negotiable!"
Wu Ji really liked the tea. Such good tea was clearly limited in quantity. If he could buy it, he would keep it for his own use and not sell it in the shop.
After the call with Wu Ji, Feng Yi sent a message to Uncle Ya, who couldn't speak and thus couldn't use voice messages.
Uncle Ya quickly replied: "Not much! Not for sale! Not short of money! [Proud] [Smoking]"
Looking at the last two emojis and thinking about the high-end phone Uncle Ya had when they first met at Xiaofeng Mountain, Feng Yi sent the screenshot to Wu Ji, "Give up."
Wu Ji was disappointed but asked, "Can you satisfy my curiosity? What's the price of this tea?"
Feng Yi relayed the question.
Uncle Ya replied: "Global limited edition! Priceless! Drinking it is a privilege!"
Wu Ji gave up.
However, Feng Yi still had questions for Uncle Ya.
"Uncle Ya, I'm almost out of this tea. A can of tea only lasts about a month. Do you have more?"
The last time Feng Yi wanted to buy, Uncle Ya said to wait until it was finished.
Now that it was almost finished, could he sell a box to him?
Uncle Ya replied: "After a month, it won't be effective for you anymore. Drinking it would be a waste."
Feng Yi was taken aback.
There was more to this than met the eye!
When he drank the tea, the intense pain had gradually lessened, and he had assumed it was due to the tea. Now, hearing Uncle Ya's words, the tea had some effect, but there was another reason?
Feng Yi asked, "What's the deal with this tea?"
Uncle Ya replied: "It clears the mind, improves vision, refreshes the spirit, quenches thirst, reduces swelling, relieves pain, and promotes metabolism. What else? It's just that!"
Feng Yi: "…"
Uncle Ya: "Tea isn't a magic potion. Be rational! That's all. I'm busy."
Feng Yi couldn't pursue the question further.
He carefully read through Uncle Ya's responses, pondering them.
A person who could protect the ancestral home and keep so many secrets was definitely not ordinary. Uncle Ya definitely knew about the changes happening to him.
After a month, the tea would no longer be effective. Did this mean it couldn't relieve the pain anymore?
Or did it mean that in a month, he would complete all his evolutionary changes and no longer need to endure such intense pain?
Uncle Ya's words were half-spoken, leaving Feng Yi's mind in turmoil.
Regardless of the meaning, a month was a critical period. Before the month was over, he would have to undergo more changes.
After the teeth and cheeks, which other parts would he have to endure the pain of evolution?
Thinking about this, Feng Yi lost his interest in wandering around. He immediately drove home and also stocked up on supplies at the supermarket. He estimated that he would have to stay home and endure the pain of evolution for the next while.
That night, Feng Yi had nightmares.
Perhaps it was because he had thought too much during the day and had observed the golden python at the zoo, he dreamed that he had a row of heat-sensing pits on his mouth and a forked tongue...
