Thus his right eye became a Predictive Eye. His vision was crystal clear. Age felt a familiar feeling towards his right eye, totally unlike the one on his left.
“Cover your left eye with this eyepatch.”
Nanashi gave him a black eyepatch taken from Ponko’s ‘mouthbag’.
Age wore the eyepatch, covering his right eye, leaving only the blue future-predicting eye visible to the world.
“It’s only a matter of time before those magicians regroup. It’s fortunate there were only small fry, non-magicians this time, but there are definitely magicians among our pursuers. As for fighting magicians before getting used to the evil eyes? One way ticket to hell. We need to get out of this city immediately.”
“Wait. There’s a place I want to stop by before leaving.”
Age had a lot of loot, like daggers and armors, from the dead pursuers. “There is a bounty hunter guild that we can sell these stuff to.”
“To get Garcia, we have to cross the sea by boat. We need money for that. This won’t be enough, but it’ll help chip in.”
“
“Agreed. But we’re still lacking a lot.”
“
“Let’s just strip them of everything we can sell, clothes and all. Let that be a lesson to not mess with a weak maiden like me.”
A pissed off Nanashi is scary.
“Errr… The armors and weapons aside, I’m not too sure if the guild would be interested in clothes.:
“Is that so? Darn.”
“AH! What about their wallets?! Or about yours, Age~”
Nanashi started rummaging through the dead men’s clothes and soon had their and Age’s wallets in her hands. Upon seeing the contents inside, she sighed.
“Wow, these people… and even you…”
—
Together with Nanashi, Age went back to the guild he visited earlier.
“Wait here”
“Okay~”
Age entered. There were men drinking everywhere he looked.
This place looked like this, huh?
It was his second time here, but it’s the first he’s actually seeing it. When the Gauche, bartender/guildmaster saw Age, he let out a sigh.
“Fucking hell, so you were faking it earlier?! Makes sense.”
“Oh, um… My body’s changing constantly… Puberty, eh?
Feeling they shouldn’t dwell on such a troublesome subject, Age tried to make an excuse.
“Really? Meh, I don’t really care. So what brings you back here?”
“I’m leaving the city today, but I really need money… so, want to buy these equipment off me?”
“Well well. These are pretty nice. Especially this dagger…”
“All the stores were already closed, so I could only go here.”
“I see… How does 30,000 for everything sound?”
The amount is small compared to the actual value, but I’m not exactly in a position to negotiate.
“Deal”.
After getting paid, Age headed for the door.
“Heehee~”
The man who put his foot out earlier, did so again.
Age could have easily avoided him, but decided to just step on the man’s foot.
The man fell off his chair.
“I’m gonna beat your ass, punk!”
Age looked at the man and smiled.
“Oh I’m sorry~ I couldn’t see your foot there…”
.Mid-sentence, Age’s smile disappeared, to be replaced with a menacing glare.
“We good?”
“Y-yes…”
The man got visibly spooked and immediately changed his attitude.
Age walked past him and out the building without giving him a second glance.
“Sold for 30,000. Now we have 85,000.”
“That’s nowhere near enough. We need about 80,000 to 100,000 per person!”
“Isn’t it too dangerous to leave now?! To get to the port city of Umineko, we have to go through the Eastern Forest. There are a lot of monsters that come out at night… Even though we have Evil Eyes, it’ll be suicide for us who neither have magic power or emblems to deal with them. Can we at least wait for dawn?
“What are you talking about? Evil eyes produce magic power the same way as emblems. Your body should already possess some magic power from the Evil Eyes.”
“I have magic power?!”
Age tried to feel his hands.
He felt something coursing through him… other than his blood.
“Evil Eyes are called as such because magicians hated the fact that someone else could do magic other than them.”
“So… I can use magic?”
“Not only you. Even I have an emblem. Though it’s not for combat. Even Ponko has one, though it’s also useless in combat.”
Age once again realized the overpoweredness of Evil Eyes.
Having the ability to create magicians. This is definitely why Nanashi is being chased.
100 Evil Eyes could possibly result in 100 magicians. It’s an amazing ability.
“If you don’t have any more complaints, let’s leave now. Empty Throne always ensures there’s at least one magician in each of its units.”
“Fine. Let’s get going then.”
