Chapter 42

The Medicine Spirit Ghost responded to Hu Donghan through the Soul Chart and immediately followed his instructions, entering the center of the three-acre medicinal field. Since the Medicine Spirit Ghost was a ghost that loved spiritual medicines, it became visibly excited once it entered the field.

The Medicine Spirit Ghost first circled around the surrounding spiritual medicines, then returned to the center. With a strange howl, the ghostly spirit grass-like soul body on its head flew up and slowly descended into the medicinal field. Soon, a strange medicinal fragrance-laden yin energy began to emanate around the ghostly spirit grass. As soon as this yin energy appeared, it spread out, eventually covering about one acre of the medicinal field before stopping.

The spiritual medicines within the range of this strange medicinal fragrance-laden yin energy clearly became more vibrant.

The Medicine Spirit Ghost, on the other hand, floated excitedly within the range of the yin energy, moving back and forth.

"The size that can be managed by the Medicine Spirit Ghost is now about one acre..." Hu Donghan inquired through the Soul Chart whether the Medicine Spirit Ghost could expand its control range further.

However, the Medicine Spirit Ghost clearly replied that if it continued to expand its control range, it might damage its soul body. The current Medicine Spirit Ghost had no intelligence and spoke whatever came to mind, so Hu Donghan naturally did not doubt it.

"One acre is already quite good for me. After all, the Medicine Spirit Ghost has just formed. As long as it can be continuously cultivated, the range it can control will naturally increase over time."

"Moreover, the Medicine Spirit Ghost controls the yin energy through the spiritual medicines during the body change, which I did not expect. Although the 'True Interpretation of Ghost Dao' details the cultivation methods and usage of the Medicine Spirit Ghost, it does not describe the unusual effects when the Medicine Spirit Ghost is active, only mentioning 'strange effects.'"

"However, since the Medicine Spirit Ghost does not need to constantly watch over the medicinal field, it means that it can do other things during the remaining time. Hmm... of course, the most important thing now is to see how long the yin energy on the Medicine Spirit Ghost can last."

The yin energy with a strange medicinal fragrance continued to spread in the medicinal field. Hu Donghan frowned, observing the situation in the medicinal field and the condition of the Medicine Spirit Ghost. Occasionally, he also divided some of his attention to check if anyone was secretly watching.

Unconsciously, four hours had passed. The sky was beginning to turn white, and the yin energy in the Medicine Spirit Ghost's body was almost completely depleted.

Suddenly, the Medicine Spirit Ghost transmitted a message to Hu Donghan through the Soul Chart, stating that if it continued to consume yin energy, it would damage its soul body. Hu Donghan immediately ordered the Medicine Spirit Ghost to stop using its ability.

Following Hu Donghan's command, the ghostly spirit grass in the medicinal field quickly flew back to the Medicine Spirit Ghost's forehead. The Medicine Spirit Ghost, now very weak, asked Hu Donghan for food.

Hu Donghan touched the soul ring and released a few wandering souls from it. The Medicine Spirit Ghost quickly pounced on one of the wandering souls and devoured it frantically. In just a few seconds, the Medicine Spirit Ghost had finished devouring one wandering soul, but its yin energy had only recovered by less than one percent! It continued to devour yin souls, and even after devouring all the remaining wandering souls on Hu Donghan's body, its yin energy had only recovered by half. Without any more wandering souls to devour, the Medicine Spirit Ghost looked weak and lay on the ground to rest.

Hu Donghan glanced at the resting Medicine Spirit Ghost and ordered it to start cultivating the spiritual medicines again. The Medicine Spirit Ghost immediately transmitted a message through the Soul Chart, stating that the yin energy it had just absorbed needed some time to convert into the special yin energy. This process would take at least half an hour.

Hu Donghan was somewhat disappointed but also felt it was within his expectations.

Squinting his eyes, Hu Donghan continued to observe the condition of the Medicine Spirit Ghost, roughly calculating in his mind.

"After the Medicine Spirit Ghost's yin energy is basically depleted, it needs to consume about 150 wandering souls to fully recover. If the Medicine Spirit Ghost is to fully cultivate the spiritual medicines, its cycle is about five hours. There are twelve hours in a day, so it will consume at least 300 wandering souls a day..."

"Of course, the Medicine Spirit Ghost's method of directly devouring wandering souls is rather crude and wasteful, and it also swallows a lot of impurities. Strictly speaking, the Medicine Spirit Ghost is just trying to recover its yin energy. Therefore, if a place similar to a solidification site can be built nearby to create a 'dining area' for the Medicine Spirit Ghost within a certain range, it would only need to consume about 100 wandering souls to have a full meal..."

"Moreover, if the Medicine Spirit Ghost can spare some time, it can also use part of its soul power to further purify the yin energy, which will better nourish its soul body and separate the impurities it accidentally absorbed during solidification."

"The number of wandering souls consumed is not a big deal; it's just some spirit stones. The growth of the Medicine Spirit Ghost is the key!"

Hu Donghan thought, already planning the future life on Xiaocui Slope.

The Medicine Spirit Ghost is different from the Fragrant Medicine Ghost. The Fragrant Medicine Ghost can increase the growth rate of spiritual medicines by 20%, while the Medicine Spirit Ghost can double the growth rate. The difference is obvious. Therefore, in Hu Donghan's view, this small medicinal field must be completely isolated from the other two medicinal fields!

At least, the strange growth phenomenon of the Medicine Spirit Ghost must not be seen by the miscellaneous disciples!

"Looks like the next step is to have the miscellaneous disciples build a fence or wall around the small medicinal field. As for my residence, I will also move to the small medicinal field. Once the small medicinal field is protected, there will only be one entrance, which is my residence. The front door will connect to the outside world, and the back door will connect to the medicinal field..."

"Also, a secret room should be built inside the house to serve as a 'dining area' for the Medicine Spirit Ghost. My own cultivation place should also be prepared. When the Medicine Spirit Ghost is cultivating the spiritual medicines, it only needs to release the ghostly spirit grass. Therefore, during the cultivation of the spiritual medicines, the Medicine Spirit Ghost can also practice the Profound Yin Heart Method to assist my cultivation..."

Hu Donghan thought intermittently, quickly summarizing a general plan.

With a thought, Hu Donghan activated the Soul Chart and returned the still resting Medicine Spirit Ghost to the Soul Chart before leaving the small medicinal field.
