Chapter 11: Unaccustomed Concern
7 min read1,756 words
The next day, early morning.
The sky was just beginning to lighten, and Li Ge had already woken up.
Looking around the somewhat unfamiliar room, Li Ge was dazed for a moment before he finally reacted.
"Almost forgot, I've moved into the Dusk Manor."
This was one of the many towers of the Dusk Manor, a room on one of the upper floors.
Yesterday, after completing the ability value update with Loki, Li Ge was assigned to this room.
This was Li Ge's room in the Dusk Manor, his residence in the base of the Loki Clan.
From now on, unless something unexpected happens, this room would belong to Li Ge, for him to use as he pleased.
Li Ge got out of bed, glanced at the dimly lit window, and then began to wash up.
After finishing his morning routine, Li Ge noticed a set of clothes placed at his door.
"This is what the Lord God asked me to prepare for you."
Looking at the note left on top of the clothes, seemingly from a senior member of the clan, Li Ge was silent for a while before silently thanking them and putting on the clothes.
As for his own clothes, there was no way he could wear them again.
As a result of fighting for a day and a night, the bloodstained, muddy, and dusty clothes were in tatters, beyond repair, and had to be thrown away.
In the absence of a change of clothes, Li Ge had no choice but to accept the kindness of the clan's Lord God and the senior members.
However, the clan's kindness seemed to extend beyond just a set of clothes; there was also a heavy cloth bag filled with golden coins.
There was a note in the bag as well.
"There are 100,000 Falis in here, which can be considered your startup funds. Use them well, and don't enter the dungeon until you complete the task I gave you last night!"
No need to guess, this note was most likely left by Li Ge's Lord God.
This reminded Li Ge of the task he was ordered to complete after updating his ability values last night, and a slight bitter smile appeared on his face.
"It seems Loki won't allow me to enter the dungeon until I complete those preparations."
So be it.
Since it's for my own good, I should follow the Lord God's instructions.
Li Ge picked up the somewhat heavy money bag, thought for a moment, and ultimately decided not to carry it with him but to store it in the dimensional cube's storage space.
According to the "Dimensional Cube User Manual," the third rule states that the dimensional cube comes with a storage space that can be opened and used at any time.
Li Ge had already tried opening the storage space of the dimensional cube while lying in bed and recovering in his original world.
Therefore, he was not unfamiliar with this operation.
"Store."
With Li Ge's silent command, the money bag disappeared from his hand.
It had entered the storage space of the dimensional cube.
The method to store items in the storage space was simple: touch the item and silently say "store."
To retrieve an item, one would first immerse their consciousness in the storage space, find the desired item, and silently say "retrieve."
Once familiar with this operation, the storage space of the dimensional cube would provide great convenience to the user.
Li Ge had become familiar with the storage space during his month of recovery, and now both "store" and "retrieve" took less than a second, making it convenient and quick.
After doing this, Li Ge opened the door, walked out of the room, and stepped onto a long corridor.
Upon closer inspection, this corridor was suspended in the air.
As the headquarters of the Loki Clan, the Dusk Manor was a collection of many towers.
The lower halves of several spires were connected, while the upper halves extended out to form stone corridors connecting the towers. From the outside, it looked like a complex network of corridors between the towers, with no discernible order.
Li Ge was walking on one of these suspended corridors, which overlooked the courtyard and had a simple appearance.
"Good morning."
"Good morning."
A few early-rising clan members, who seemed to be busy with some work, greeted Li Ge as they passed by.
"Good morning."
Li Ge naturally did not ignore them and returned their greetings politely before walking down the corridor, out of the Dusk Manor, through the courtyard, and to the main gate of the base.
"Good morning, new member. Are you going out early in the morning?"
"Don't come back all tattered like you did last night, okay?"
The two clan members guarding the gate recognized Li Ge, greeted him, and gave him some advice.
"Of course not, please don't worry, seniors."
Li Ge felt a bit awkward but managed a polite smile and left.
Once he was on the main street, he felt the gazes on his back disappear.
"The seniors in the clan are quite enthusiastic and kind."
Li Ge let out a slight sigh, feeling a bit moved.
In his previous life, the people around Li Ge were mostly those with ulterior motives, who only smiled at him insincerely. Few people cared for him as genuinely as the members of the Loki Clan.
Therefore, Li Ge was still quite unaccustomed to this.
Including the fact that Loki had been in a bad mood all night because Li Ge had been out for a day and a night, Li Ge was not used to it, which made him more silent than usual.
Of course, this was because Li Ge knew that these people genuinely cared for him, which made him feel unaccustomed.
This was something he rarely experienced, so it was normal for him to feel unaccustomed.
Fortunately, during his month of recovery in the original world, Yurie's attitude towards him was not bad, so he was not completely at a loss on how to deal with the situation. Otherwise, he might have felt quite at a loss.
Overall, the atmosphere within the Loki Clan made Li Ge quite comfortable.
"Although I had some understanding of the Loki Clan from the original story, and I chose to join the Loki Clan partly because of the friendly atmosphere, the experience is still different when you experience it firsthand."
Li Ge could only sigh, then shook his head to clear his thoughts.
However, his mood inevitably improved, and his steps became a bit more forceful. He silently remembered the help and concern of everyone, and made a promise to repay them when he had the chance.
He was the kind of person who would always remember the kindness and good intentions of others and take them seriously.
Perhaps it was because he had rarely encountered people who only had pure intentions towards him in the past.
Thinking of this, Li Ge felt a bit self-deprecating.
"Never mind, let's not think too much about it."
Since he had already decided to let go of the past, thinking about those things would only add to his troubles.
Li Ge quickly switched his thoughts and began to focus on his tasks.
"There's a lot to do today."
Last night, Loki gave him several orders that he had to complete.
"First, I need to prepare a new weapon and a set of equipment for the dungeon."
"Second, I need to finish reading the books I found in the base's library last night and memorize the terrain, map, and monster information of the upper levels of the dungeon."
"Finally, I need to go to the guild and register as an adventurer."
These were the three tasks Loki gave Li Ge to complete.
Only after completing these tasks could Li Ge enter the dungeon again.
In fact, people who wanted to enter the dungeon would usually complete these preparations before considering entering the dungeon. Li Ge had disrupted the order by entering the dungeon first and then coming back to do these preparations, which was quite surprising.
If it weren't for Li Ge awakening a magic spell and three powerful skills, and the ability value update last night almost driving Loki crazy, Loki might have ordered Li Ge to find a team and not enter the dungeon alone.
Now, just asking Li Ge to complete these three preparations was already quite lenient.
"As for the books, I've read them almost completely. At least, I've memorized the information about the first few levels of the dungeon."
Li Ge's memory was exceptional, so he had already completed this task last night.
The remaining tasks were to register at the guild and use the startup funds to buy a weapon and equipment.
"Let's go to the guild to register first."
Li Ge recalled the city map he had memorized last night and headed northwest.
The main street was already quite lively early in the morning, with many shops open and stalls set up on both sides.
On the road, many people were moving about, including humans and various demi-humans, many of whom were fully equipped and looked formidable.
Li Ge walked down the street, went deeper, and eventually arrived at a magnificent temple with many others who had the same destination.
It was a building constructed with white pillars.
In the spacious entrance hall made of white marble, many fully armed people were moving about, making the hall crowded.
This was the guild, the official institution managing the labyrinth city of Orario.
Most of the people here were adventurers, whose job and purpose was to conquer the dungeon.
Li Ge mixed in with them and approached a counter.
"Hello, please register me as an adventurer."
Li Ge spoke to the lady at the counter.
"Sure, please wait a moment."
The lady immediately took out a piece of parchment and began to register.
"Name?"
"Li Ge Brihaut."
"Race?"
"Human."
"Age?"
"17 years old."
Li Ge wanted to report his age from his previous life, but it felt a bit off with his current appearance, so he hesitated and reported his age in this life.
"Which clan do you belong to?"
The staff member, unaware of Li Ge's complex feelings, continued to ask.
"Loki Clan."
Li Ge didn't hesitate and reported it directly.
At that moment, there was a brief silence in the hall.
