Chapter 25 of 100
Chapter 25: Isn't it great to have someone carry you?
7 min read1,754 words
If you were to ask an adventurer what kind of change they most look forward to in their abilities, their answer would most likely be just one thing.
That is, leveling up.
It's not about gaining supernatural miracles like magic, or acquiring skills with peculiar effects, or even significantly enhancing their basic abilities. It's about the evolution of mind and body, the elevation of their level.
Especially for new adventurers at level 1, leveling up is undoubtedly what they look forward to the most.
Because, from this step onward, they truly begin to walk the path of the extraordinary.
The Divine Favor exists as a growth accelerator, a booster for becoming stronger.
In other words, it doesn't enable those who can't grow to break their limits and become strong, but rather accelerates the growth of those who can continue to grow.
Therefore, whether a person can grow actually depends on whether they have the potential to grow.
If they have the potential, then the Divine Favor can accelerate this process, promoting growth through the accumulation of experience points, serving as the nourishment for growth.
If they lack the potential, then unfortunately, even with the Divine Favor, they cannot grow.
This is also why the number of people who can train their basic abilities to the S stage is extremely rare, and even those who can train to the A or B stages are few and far between.
Their potential is exhausted, and they can no longer grow. As such, no matter how many experience points they accumulate, they cannot increase their proficiency by even a single point.
Given this, although there are differences in strength among level 1 adventurers, they still fall within the realm of "mortals."
They can grow to the limits of the human body and the human race through the accumulation of experience points, but they still cannot truly transcend and possess superhuman power.
Especially for humans, who have no racial advantages, even if they train to the limits of the human body, they can at most shatter a rock. Could they split a mountain?
It's impossible.
The human body ultimately has its limits, and no matter how much it grows, it will never become superhuman.
But once they experience leveling up, it's different.
The so-called "evolution of mind and body" is exactly as the words suggest, a genuine transcendence, officially entering the realm of the superhuman.
Whether human or demi-human, even if their potential is exhausted at level 1 and they have reached the limits of the human body, once they successfully level up, they will undergo a transformation that can be called a "mental and physical evolution."
This transformation is not only reflected in increased strength but also in the expansion of one's "vessel."
After leveling up, one ascends to another level, where new potential and new possibilities are unleashed, allowing the self, which had reached a bottleneck and could no longer grow, to have the opportunity to grow and become stronger again.
This is leveling up.
Loki once said that leveling up is getting closer to their (the gods) level.
The higher the level, the more times one ascends, and the more fully the mind and body evolve, the closer one gets to their parents (the gods).
Therefore, leveling up can also be seen as a step-by-step process of becoming a god.
Who wouldn't yearn for leveling up?
However, levels cannot be raised casually.
"Generally speaking, to level up, two conditions need to be met."
Loki swayed the wine bottle in his hand, speaking as if unintentionally.
"One is to raise one of the basic abilities to the sixth stage, the D stage."
"The other is to obtain more advanced experience points, achieving great deeds."
The first condition provides a solid foundation for leveling up.
If the foundation is not solid enough, it would be like a high-rise building with an unstable foundation; no matter how much you build on top, it will only collapse.
Similarly, to promote the evolution of mind and body and the ascension of the individual, a certain foundation (foundation) is necessary.
The second condition provides sufficient nourishment for leveling up and evolution.
Just as ordinary experience points can serve as nourishment to promote the growth of basic abilities and even awaken magic and skills, to level up, one also needs sufficient experience points.
However, the experience points required at this point cannot be satisfied by ordinary experience points but must be advanced experience points, as Loki mentioned.
These advanced experience points are what Loki calls great deeds.
In other words, defeating a stronger opponent.
In other words, undertaking a life-and-death adventure.
In other words, launching a heart-wrenching challenge.
Once these actions are accomplished, the person receiving the favor will obtain more advanced experience points, achieving what is called great deeds.
When the accumulation of great deeds is sufficient, the evolution of mind and body will be triggered, allowing people to advance to a higher realm and enter a higher domain.
This is leveling up.
"Defeating a stronger opponent, huh?"
Lige's lips curled involuntarily.
Seeing Lige like this, Loki sobered up.
"Good guy, not only did this not scare you, but it even excited you?" Loki teased, "Generally speaking, when people hear that they need to defeat a stronger opponent, they would back down, right?"
"You, on the other hand, are so eager that you're almost ready to sound the battle horn."
Isn't that right?
Fighting a stronger opponent usually means no chance of winning, right?
No chance of winning means a high possibility of death.
Who wouldn't shrink back upon hearing the conditions for leveling up?
Only Lige actually smiled.
"It's okay," Lige quickly controlled his lips, saying, "Even if the opponent is stronger, there are examples of the weak defeating the strong, and there are many of them. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many high-level adventurers in the world."
Indeed, although the requirements for leveling up are strict, many people still manage to achieve their goals.
Why?
Because even if one is weaker than the opponent, they can make up for it with skill, reverse the situation with tactics, and even use many cunning schemes.
More directly, isn't magic a miraculous killer?
If one truly encounters a stronger opponent, using a long incantation to cast a wide-area destruction spell, unleashing the power to boil the sea and burn the sky, wouldn't it be possible to burn a stronger opponent to death in one go?
These are all possibilities for the weak to defeat the strong.
Of course, there is an even simpler method.
"I suggest you form a team with someone," Loki advised, "Facing a stronger enemy, challenging them as a team, and using the combined strength to tackle the opponent is the shortcut to obtaining advanced experience points and achieving great deeds."
In short, if you can't win a one-on-one fight, then a group fight will do.
Challenging a stronger opponent in this way can also achieve great deeds.
However, doing so will distribute the experience points among all members of the team, possibly leading to insufficient accumulation of advanced experience points, preventing a one-time level-up.
But if once doesn't work, a few more times will, right?
This is why, despite the strict conditions for achieving great deeds, many people in the world can still successfully level up.
Challenging as a team is both safe and steady.
"Fortunately, this family has many members, and you have many high-level seniors who can carry you forward, allowing you to level up safely," Loki looked at Lige, saying, "If you need it, you can ask me directly."
The meaning of these words was clear; if Lige needed it, Loki would arrange for teammates to carry him.
This is also one of the benefits of joining a large family, having someone to carry you, someone to take care of you, someone to guide you, and someone to protect you, ensuring you don't have to worry about not progressing, only about whether your potential is sufficient.
In a small family, finding a companion to form a team would be a big problem.
In this sense, Lige's choice to join Loki's family was undoubtedly a wise one.
Otherwise, why would so many people yearn to join a large family?
Isn't it because of the rich resources and connections?
However,
"Forming a team?"
Lige subconsciously frowned, leaving Loki speechless.
"Isn't it great to have someone carry you? You must be a bit off, kid!" Loki barely restrained the urge to smash the wine bottle on Lige's head to see what was inside, breathing heavily, "Forget it, expecting you to grow steadily and systematically is out of the question. Since your abilities haven't reached their peak yet, I'll arrange for you to adapt to team combat first. We'll plan in detail when you need to level up."
Judging by Lige's growth, it's clear that his potential at level 1 has not been fully realized.
At this rate, Lige will definitely be able to raise his basic abilities to the A stage, and even the highest S stage is a possibility.
And the strength after leveling up from the S stage is certainly different from leveling up from the minimum D stage.
Even if the strength gained from leveling up is the same, the person with higher ability values at the previous level will be stronger.
"I'm actually a bit excited to see if you can achieve the miracle of all S ability values."
Loki laughed.
"All S ability values?"
Lige murmured softly.
That is indeed a miracle.
At least, as far as Lige knows, even in the original story, only one person approached this achievement.
The legendary figure, hailed as the ultimate weapon of Orario, with a level as high as 7, had four of their ability values at the S stage, just one short of the all S achievement.
Apart from that person, no one else in the original story had such terrifying potential.
Of course, the original protagonist is an exception.
That person, not only achieved all S ability values, but even surpassed it, reaching a realm that even the gods have never heard of or seen.
Lige looked at the parchment in his hand, his eyes flickering.
Compared to that person, could he touch the possibility that makes the gods rejoice?
"Indeed, a bit exciting."
