First Chapter: War is about to break out. How will a group of rookies survive in this war? Let's wait and see!

"Father, don't come in. I don't know what happened, but there's an elemental overflow," a voice came from inside just as the middle-aged man was about to enter the kitchen.

"Huh, elemental overflow? Can you control it?" The middle-aged man was taken aback, then took a few steps back and asked loudly.

"Yes, I discovered someone with a natural awakening talent. Now I have a good student," the voice inside answered with a slightly magnetic tone.

"You, can your level even teach such a disciple?" The middle-aged man asked with a slight smile.

"Hmph, isn't there still Grandfather? If you don't teach me, I'll go to him," the voice inside huffed, threateningly.

"Alright, I'm afraid of you. But to take someone as a student, they have to be willing, right?" The middle-aged man's face showed a smile, but he argued back.

"Fortunately, I arrived in time, or this person might have been ruined. Ah, it's the fur of a water rabbit. I guess eating the water rabbit's meat caused the reaction, leading to this situation," a voice then came, sounding surprised.

"Water rabbit?" The middle-aged man was slightly taken aback, then showed a look of understanding.

"Someone, bring this person back," the voice inside shouted, and Cook saw several large men rush in.

"Get lost, you guys, roughhousing, who asked you?" But these large men were then pushed out by an invisible force.

"Go, call a few maids," the middle-aged man frowned and instructed someone. Cook recognized him as Captain Quev.

"Right away, right away," Quev's voice hadn't even faded when he was already gone.

"Clang! Clang! Clang! Master Meliv, Viscount Locke requests an audience," but at that moment, the sound of weapons clashing and boots thudding on the ground echoed, followed by a voice from afar.

"Hehe, no need!" The middle-aged man in a fiery red robe chuckled.

"Master, it's not intentional. I was ordered by the Count...!" Viscount Locke's anxious voice immediately came.

"I'm coming out, it's a bit cramped in here," the middle-aged man, who was Meliv, added.

Several maids soon arrived, trembling as they entered the kitchen. A figure was carried out, and Cook saw it was indeed Mitch. However, Cook's expression was very strange. Then a woman with fiery red hair, whose age was hard to guess, appeared. She looked to be in her late teens or early twenties, giving off a vague aura. Following her were Lady Hill and Lady Puen.

"Alright, let's go. Viscount Locke is waiting for us," Meliv glanced at Mitch and said indifferently.

"Clang, clang, clang!" Dozens of guards quickly left, leaving behind a few frightened people.

"Ah!" Little Boai finally burst into tears, and Lady Puen also cried.

"Don't cry, it's fine. Mitch is in luck. She has a magical talent, which we should thank Old Hill for. If you hadn't invited us to eat the water rabbit, Mitch's talent wouldn't have been awakened. People like us don't have the chance to go to the Mage Guild for testing," Puen, recalling the situation, became more clear-headed and stopped the crying of Lady Puen and Little Boai, speaking softly.

"Hehe!" Old Hill also laughed excitedly.

"An Archmage, we met Master Meliv!" Old Hill then said to Cook and Puen.

"Puen, Viscount Locke wants to see you," a guard rushed over, his face strange, and shouted.

"Coming, coming, coming!" Puen quickly stood up and followed the guard.

"Who is Old Hill? Viscount Locke wants to see you!" The same guard, still with a strange face, shouted again.

"Uh! It's me!" Old Hill quickly stood up.

"Who is Cook? Is it you?" The guard then looked at Cook with a strange face.

"Uh, it's me!" Cook was puzzled.

"Sigh, brother, take care!" The guard's expression was rich, with joy, helplessness, and other emotions, but he patted Cook's shoulder and advised him.

Cook watched the guard's retreating back, feeling a bit uneasy, but Cook was a man who had seen many great things and wouldn't be easily scared.

"Damn, damn, damn!" The next day, Cook understood why the guard had said that. Now, as he walked on the road, he was surrounded by mounted guards, while he only had the job of leading a horse. Cook had been demoted from a guard to a follower, a position similar to a squire but for a mage instead of a knight. The horse he was leading was his own Yalan horse, and on its back sat Mitch.

"Uncle Cook!" Mitch was completely covered in a gray robe.

"Mitch, what are you saying? You're my student, don't lose face for me, Lori," a voice came before Cook could react.

"Mitch, don't call me that, or that tigress will find an excuse to beat me up again," Cook quickly whispered.

"Cook, go see if there are any good fruits, and bring back a couple of game animals," a voice that made Cook's scalp tingle came.

"Yes, Master!" Cook couldn't help but laugh bitterly. What fruits were there in this season? And wild fruits, who would eat them?

"Also, use your trash talent to check if there are any fierce beasts around. I, the lady, no, the mage, will eliminate them," Lori then ordered.

"Yes, Master!" Cook laughed bitterly. Are the beasts more fierce than you? A fireball almost destroyed the castle's back gate, but the situation was stronger than people, so Cook had to agree. After all, Cook's family was now attached to Mage Lori, and so was Mitch's family. Lori had taken them in out of curiosity about Cook's trash talent, the ability to speak with animals. Cook's and Puen's families had already gone to the legendary capital, while Cook accompanied Lori and Mitch, the teacher and student, to the battlefield for training, which was essentially following the main force to gain experience. Of course, Viscount Locke had saved Lori on the battlefield before. It was said that Lori was terrified and almost killed by a knight. At that time, Viscount Locke didn't know Lori's identity, as she was just a magic apprentice. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, he stopped the knight and killed him. Once Viscount Locke learned of the mage's identity, he easily obtained the viscount title.

"Also, bring me some fresh cassava leaves, buddy!" But a call from the Yalan horse almost made Cook faint.

"Do you want some ale too?" Cook shouted angrily in the animal language, which humans couldn't hear.

"Just a bit dizzy, that's why I asked for cassava leaves. They have a refreshing effect," the Yalan horse explained.

"Uh!" Cook was speechless. The Yalan horse actually knew this.

"Cough, cough, bring me some red-tailed grass, I'm a bit indigestive," a large creature under Lori coughed.

"You, a meat-eater, are indigestive?" Cook grumbled as he walked, helpless. The animal's hearing and voice carried farther than humans, and Cook's words were heard by Lori's mount, a lion as big as two water buffaloes.

"Hehe, the food hasn't been good lately?" The lion laughed.

"Not good, you damn thing, you ate two antelopes in one meal, that's a gold coin's worth of food," Cook grumbled as he walked in the forest.

"But where is that damn red-tailed grass?" Cook muttered to himself, looking at the dense forest.

"I know, but I won't tell you," a voice came from above. Cook realized he had been muttering in the animal language and felt depressed. Looking up, he saw a clever squirrel looking down at him.

"Little guy, I have golden thread bread, you...," Cook tried a friendly smile.

"Deceitful human, put away your tricks. I've seen it all, and I don't eat bread," the squirrel replied, not giving Cook any face.

"Uh!" Cook was extremely depressed, being called "brother" by a squirrel.
