Second update!
Cook's casual gesture made a middle-aged man in a red robe, who had just walked out, nod slightly. However, the middle-aged man in the red robe walked through the central large door, while Cook and his group walked through a smaller side door. Behind the middle-aged man were two young men in gray robes, and behind them was a large group of fully armed warriors and knights, their gleaming swords making the surrounding people shudder.
"Viscount Rock, please fill out this form." Viscount Rock led Cook and his group to a young man in a gray robe. The young man was sitting behind a large desk, and to Cook's surprise, he had no insignia on his body, yet he sat there and handed a form to Viscount Rock, speaking in a formal tone without any sign of respect, as if Viscount Rock were an ordinary person.
"Thank you!" Viscount Rock took the form without hesitation, filled it out carefully, and then handed it back to the young man.
"A total of five people for the bloodline test, the cost is 150 gold coins. After paying, you can proceed with the test." The young man looked at the form, wrote something, and said in a commanding tone.
"Yes!" Viscount Rock quickly handed over 150 gold coins to the young man, who didn't even count them before tossing them into a box, the clinking sound indicating that there were probably many gold coins inside.
"Alright, go straight, turn left at the third fork, here is your token." The young man handed Viscount Rock a metal badge with some strange twisted patterns. Cook knew these were the characters of this world, but he couldn't recognize any of them.
"Thank you, sir." Viscount Rock held the metal badge and thanked the young man with respect, then led Cook and the other four into a large corridor, while Quev and the others waited outside.
Although Cook had many questions, seeing Viscount Rock's cautious demeanor, he couldn't help but feel nervous and forced himself to hold back.
"Sir!" Viscount Rock quickly led Cook and his group into a hall that was about a hundred square meters in size. The thickness of the stone walls by the door was at least several meters, which amazed Cook, as the entire building seemed to be carved out of a single block of stone with no cracks. Even more surprising was that the stone had some strange patterns, which appeared to be made of metal.
"How bizarre, using so much metal to decorate the walls. Don't they know how valuable metal is?" Cook silently complained to himself, but he only dared to think it, as he believed such things happened in that era.
Viscount Rock faced an old man wearing a blue robe with a silver star on it. The old man was carefully examining a raised platform in the center of the hall, which had more metal patterns than the walls.
"Hmm! Bloodline test?" The old man looked at the metal badge in Viscount Rock's hand and asked in a very arrogant tone.
"Yes, sir." Viscount Rock appeared very restrained.
"Alright, one bottle each, then drop some blood into it." The old man gave Viscount Rock five slender bottles, which looked like glass test tubes but were not very transparent.
"Cook, come over, each of you drop some blood into the bottles, be careful, they are made of crystal." Viscount Rock carefully handed the test tubes to Cook and the others, then whispered instructions.
"But...!" One of the guys traveling with Cook looked helplessly, as there were no knives or anything to cut with, and he didn't know how to draw blood.
"Sorry, I always forget." The old man picked up a silver knife and handed it to Viscount Rock, but he wasn't really apologetic, just saying it casually.
Now the five of them gritted their teeth and drew blood. Viscount Rock handed each test tube to the old man, and Cook was even more surprised because the old man clearly didn't care about the crystal test tubes. Cook knew that the Viscount's wife had a crystal bracelet on her wrist, which was said to be worth hundreds of gold coins. Clearly, these test tubes were more intricate than the bracelet, and Cook regretted not knowing how to read, silently resolving to learn to read in the future to avoid being at a disadvantage.
"朤捌囍叁ぁ弐〥卄氺〤太厘艾仟〧弍弎〧卄卐〤〥〢〨巜!" The old man placed the five test tubes into some slots on the central platform and recited some difficult words, causing the metal patterns to emit a faint white light.
"Tokka, one-fifteenth orc werewolf bloodline, eight-fifteenths human bloodline, and one-fifteenth barbarian bloodline. Uh! In short, there are no conditions for awakening a bloodline talent, recommended to become a knight." After reciting the spell, the old man held a fist-sized transparent crystal ball, and a faint blue light emitted from his hand, which also shot a blue light over the first test tube. He said a few words and then summarized impatiently.
"Harreg, nine-thirty-eighths orc pigman bloodline, fifteen-thirty-eighths human bloodline, and... the bloodline is too mixed, but there is a possibility of awakening the pigman bloodline talent, recommended to become a warrior." The old man then said the second one.
"Kopei, nine-thirteenths human bloodline, and one-thirteenth elf bloodline... no possibility of awakening a bloodline talent, but recommended to become an archer."
"Cook, seven-eighths human bloodline, one-eighth orc bloodline, specifically rabbit orc bloodline. The bloodline is simple, with a possibility of awakening a talent. The recommended profession is hard to say. If it's the rabbit orc's talent for identifying herbs, then he could become an alchemist. If it's something else, it depends on the talent." The old man unusually said more.
"Really!" Viscount Rock immediately became excited upon hearing the profession of alchemist.
"Kato, nine-twelfths human bloodline, one-twelfth barbarian bloodline, one-twelfth elf bloodline, and one-twelfth orc bloodline. What a pity!" The old man said with a sigh.
"Sir, why is it a pity?" Viscount Rock asked in surprise.
"Barbarian bloodline and elf bloodline are incompatible. Barbarians are generally strength-based, while elves are agility-based, so the possibility of awakening a talent is low. If it were just barbarian and orc bloodlines, the chances of awakening would be high." The old man explained with a slight sense of pride.
"What a pity." Viscount Rock also sighed.
"Then do you decide to awaken the talents?" The old man then asked Viscount Rock, clearly referring to Cook and Tokka.
"Alright, let's do it." Viscount Rock nodded without hesitation.
"Five hundred gold coins!" The old man said with a smile.
