Chapter 56

Relinquishing control over Chen Yang's body, Chen Yang, who had been observing the entire time, was finally able to move again.

But he immediately groaned in pain: "Ouch, Screw Commander, you should have waited until my body wasn't in pain before handing it back to me."

"Host, leave this place."

"Wait, Screw Commander."

Chen Yang rubbed his shoulder, watching the flesh on his arm scar over, detach, and regenerate at a visible speed, making his scalp tingle.

"Screw Commander, are you just letting the other side escape?"

This was a failure when success was almost within reach. How could he just give up like this? Chen Yang, the observer, was not willing to let it go.

"Host, it won't escape..."

The right hand didn't seem as disappointed as Chen Yang: "It will reappear in that place."

"That place?"

Chen Yang had a sudden idea: "You mean it will reappear in that tunnel? But why..."

"Because something is hidden there..."

The right hand didn't seem to want to say more: "In any case, if it returns there, it proves that something important is hidden there, which might be a good thing for me."

"A good thing?"

Chen Yang's heart stirred, understanding why the right hand didn't continue to search for the component.

Chen Yang didn't say more, instead, he turned his gaze to a car that had been flipped by the explosion.

Under the illumination of the surrounding flames, a hand was struggling to reach out from the broken rear window of the overturned car. Despite the severe accident, the hand was still moving slightly.

Although this had nothing to do with Chen Yang, it was still a traffic accident caused by the right hand using his body. With just a glance around, Chen Yang knew that this terrifying accident would result in hundreds of casualties.

Fortunately, there were no surveillance cameras on this highway, and the speed at which the right hand and the component fought exceeded human imagination. The accident investigation team would never figure out what happened just by looking at the scene.

Chen Yang hesitated for a moment, then approached the overturned car and crouched down. In the back seat, there was only one female passenger, while the driver in the front seat had a metal rod through his forehead, dead as could be.

"Help... me..."

The woman was slumped in the car, weakly moaning for help.

This woman had quite good luck.

Chen Yang didn't immediately pull the woman out but first checked her body, finding only minor abrasions and no other serious injuries.

With that, he didn't have to worry about causing more harm by moving her. Chen Yang didn't hesitate and pulled her out of the car.

"Ouch..."

As he pulled her out, Chen Yang realized she was a beauty, and her weak, closed-eyed murmurs were pitiful.

"You're lucky."

After carrying the woman to an open area and setting her down, Chen Yang was about to leave.

Earlier, he had seen the right hand controlling his body and performing beyond human limits. Now, he itched to try the same, leaping forward and sprinting, then jumping onto the guardrail and soaring up.

"Damn!"

He leaped forward, but without the right hand's coordination, his powerful body didn't perform well. He slid and almost fell flat on his face after jumping about seven or eight meters.

"Idiot, hurry up and leave. Other humans will be here soon."

The right hand scolded.

Alright, alright, he couldn't compare himself to an alien. Chen Yang obediently used his own speed, ran forward, and jumped down from the guardrail.

Below the bridge was a two-lane road. A drop of four or five meters was nothing to the current Chen Yang. He landed and easily absorbed the impact.

In that direction...

Determined to head back the way he came, Chen Yang quickly ran forward. It took him about five minutes to get there, but it took over twenty minutes to return. For a normal person, it would take more than an hour to get back.

Passing through the trees and shrubs, he reached the slope where the electromagnetic sniper rifle was left, lying quietly.

Looking toward the distant construction site, it was dark and quiet, with no one yet aware of the incident.

"Screw Commander, is it in there?"

Chen Yang picked up the electromagnetic sniper rifle and asked softly.

"It has hidden its pheromones and synchronization rhythm projection system, but it doesn't matter. As long as it engages in parasitic or devouring activities, it can't hide."

"But what if it continues to hide?"

"Can humans hold their breath or go without food forever?"

"How long can it hide?"

Chen Yang pondered for a moment and asked.

"After being injured and fleeing, the component will urgently need to replenish its energy. It can hide for at most two days."

The right hand was increasingly pleased: "This time, it was severely injured during its recovery period, making its recovery even more difficult. We just need to wait. As long as it can't hold out and exposes itself..."

Chen Yang breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that this operation wasn't a complete failure, at least achieving ninety percent of its purpose.

"Then, Screw Commander, what about the bodies left there?"

Looking at the construction site, which looked like it had been hit by a tornado, Chen Yang analyzed: "This incident is so big that the police will definitely seal off the area, making it difficult for us to return."

"Even if we dispose of the bodies, the disappearance of so many people, including the police, will still attract high attention from the Public Security Bureau."

Chen Yang frowned, troubled by this: "But if we don't clean up the scene, there are many suspicious points..."

Chen Yang understood that even with the severe damage and numerous suspicious points, this was reality, not a movie. The crime scene investigators would likely never figure out the cause.

"Host, in human terms, of two evils, choose the lesser. We should clean up the scene."

The right hand thought for a moment and gave the order.

Chen Yang nodded and headed to the construction site.

At the site, he cleaned up the severely damaged areas and dragged the badly damaged bodies to the forest for burial.

With so many deaths, especially of innocent people, Chen Yang felt a bit disheartened, gaining a deeper understanding of the component's primitive and brutal nature.

The workers were relatively lucky, just having their necks twisted. But the police officers died in a horrific manner, their brains sucked out, their bodies shriveled, a sight that would haunt anyone.

Using a shovel, he quickly dug a large pit and buried the bodies one by one, his hands trembling.

After finishing everything, Chen Yang looked up to the sky and sighed. What kind of world was this? In the past, he would be at home, eating snacks and watching movies. Now, he was out in the middle of the night, burying bodies in the wilderness. The unpredictability of life was evident.

Although he tried to handle the smell, how long could it be hidden?

Chen Yang didn't know. Taking advantage of the deepening night, he disassembled the electromagnetic sniper rifle, carried the electric scooter, and took another route. Finally, he buried the electric scooter in the forest, several miles away, completely erasing the trail.

Although there were no surveillance cameras on the suburban roads and the electric scooter wasn't captured, Chen Yang, being cautious, wouldn't be careless for just a few thousand dollars.

He was handling the traces when a major traffic accident on the highway sent the Party Secretary of Donghai City into a cold sweat.

"What did you say? Say it again?"

Hu Zeming, who had just returned home to rest, was instantly wide awake, a cold sweat breaking out on his back after receiving a call from his secretary.

How could he not be shocked! Just a few minutes ago, a major traffic accident occurred within the jurisdiction of Donghai!

According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Public Security on Revising the Standards for Dividing Road Traffic Accidents," road traffic accidents are divided into four categories. A major accident is defined as one that results in three or more deaths, or 11 or more serious injuries, or one death and eight or more serious injuries, or two deaths and five or more serious injuries, or property damage exceeding 60,000 yuan.

However, the preliminary statistics indicated that this highway accident was expected to result in over a hundred casualties!
