Chapter 65

Liu Zhongyi and Wang Xinhua were taken aback, still not reacting when a black shadow flashed before their eyes, and they fell into unconsciousness.
The black shadow stood still, gradually revealing Chen Yang's figure under the dim moonlight.
Chen Yang silently approached the corpse, looked down, and saw that the back of the head had been blown apart by a special bullet, leaving nothing but a shattered mess, and the trachea below the neck was torn apart.
He squatted down, and his right hand transformed into dozens of tentacles, plunging into the neck wound. Soon, a jet of black, viscous liquid shot out from the ruptured belly, attempting to escape, but it was instantly enveloped and swallowed by the prepared right hand.
Chen Yang's body trembled, and he felt a sharp pain in his head, as if a large amount of images and memories were flashing by like a slideshow, but he couldn't clearly see what they were.
The pain came and went quickly, and before Chen Yang could even groan, the pain had receded like a tide.
"Commander Luosi, what just happened...?"
"It's nothing, you just felt some fragments of memory."
The right hand, having reabsorbed the component, felt very pleased. "As I expected, that thing is hidden inside."
Chen Yang's pupils changed, and his body was temporarily controlled by the right hand again.
Ignoring the two police officers lying on the ground, "Chen Yang" walked to the depths of the tunnel and looked up.
There was a pipe, not yet filled with cables. "Chen Yang" lightly jumped and grabbed it with a large hand, which clamped down like a vise, instantly bending and breaking the pipe. A black sphere fell out, landing perfectly in "Chen Yang's" raised palm.
This black sphere was dull and lifeless, about the size of a ping-pong ball. It was unclear what use this item, so valued by the right hand, had.
"Commander Luosi, is this... the thing?"
Chen Yang regained control of his body and looked at the black sphere in his palm with great curiosity. From the feel of it, the sphere seemed to be made of a metal similar to steel, very hard. However, strangely, a steel sphere the size of a ping-pong ball would be quite heavy, but this one was as light as a feather, making it clear that this was no ordinary item.
"Let's go, don't waste any more time here."
Having absorbed the component and found the important item, the right hand was eager to leave. But before leaving, it commanded, "Host, kill those two humans."
"What?"
Chen Yang's face changed. "No."
Fearing the right hand's anger, Chen Yang quickly explained, "Commander Luosi, those two police officers didn't see us. We don't need to kill them. Besides, if we kill them, the situation might get even worse."
After explaining, Chen Yang realized the flaws in his argument. The situation was already serious, and killing the two police officers would only result in two more missing persons.
But the two police officers were innocent, just doing their jobs, and Chen Yang couldn't bear to harm them.
The right hand didn't get angry as Chen Yang expected, but simply said, "Dispose of the corpse, then let's go."
Chen Yang was slightly stunned, then quickly reacted, forcing himself to pick up the thoroughly blown-apart corpse and carry it a few kilometers away to dispose of it.
After that, he hurriedly packed up his equipment, rode his bicycle in a large circle, and finally returned home at 1:30 AM.
"Commander Luosi, why did you let those two police officers go?"
Finally back in a familiar environment, Chen Yang relaxed a bit but still asked the question hesitantly.
"Didn't you explain the reason? What more do you want me to say?"
The right hand's counter-question left Chen Yang speechless, unsure how to respond.
In fact, the right hand didn't care much about the lives of the two police officers. As Chen Yang had said, it didn't matter whether they were killed or not since they hadn't seen them. Chen Yang's roundabout plea for mercy wasn't something that would anger it. Any intelligent species has a natural tendency to help its own kind, which isn't a significant issue.
Having successfully absorbed one of the components, the right hand was in a good mood and looked at Chen Yang, its partner, more favorably.
"Commander Luosi, can you tell me what this thing is now?"
Holding the black sphere, Chen Yang's breathing quickened. This item, stolen from an alien race and equivalent to the nuclear weapon codes of humans, was not something to be taken lightly.
No matter how rich Chen Yang's imagination, he couldn't fathom an item that could determine the survival of a civilization light-years away.
So, he was incredibly curious.
"You don't need to know about this item now. When the time comes, you'll know. You might even regret it then..."
The right hand's cryptic words left Chen Yang feeling a chill, his skin breaking out in goosebumps. The right hand's ominous tone not only killed his curiosity but also made him want to throw the black sphere as far away as possible.
The farther, the better!
But even if given dozens of dragon hearts, Chen Yang only dared to think about it, not to actually do it. He wouldn't dare to do such a thing unless he wanted to die.
When a person has something to fear, their behavior and attitude change dramatically, especially when that fear is not from a human.
Though it was late at night, Chen Yang, having just returned from such a significant event, was wide awake with no sleepiness. Since it was the middle of the night, he couldn't go out, so he took off his shirt, revealing his well-built upper body, and turned on his old computer to go online.
It had been a long time since he had used his old friend to go online. Chen Yang touched the mouse, looking at the computer screen, feeling moved to tears.
Heaven knows how pitiful he was. Since being parasitized by the right hand, his deep friendship with his old friend had been severed, and all friendly interactions were strictly forbidden.
This was a cruel thing for a man!
But he had to submit... and deeply resented the unfairness of fate.
Shaking his head to clear the heavy thoughts, Chen Yang casually browsed some forum pages and suddenly saw a forum member recommending a mobile game. Curiously clicking on it, he found it was his own "Endless Stars."
Chen Yang slapped his forehead. He had been so busy with the component that he had forgotten about the game. He had been negligent, but the right hand must remember. The right hand only needed the game to plant a backdoor and earn some activity funds, not caring much about the game itself.
"Endless Stars" had been out for less than a week, but the number of daily new players exceeded ten thousand, growing at an alarming rate and attracting media attention.
Articles with titles like "A Personal Development of a Godly Game?" and "Chinese Game Developers Surpass International Standards" attracted readers. Chen Yang browsed a few similar news articles, shaking his head.
He wasn't dissatisfied with the content of the news but with the comments below. Many commenters clearly hadn't played the game, leaving either insults or disbelief, their low quality of comments was unbearable to read.
Chen Yang's displeasure lasted only a moment. This phenomenon wasn't unique to "Endless Stars." In any news comment section, there were always a group of people cursing and venting their anger. The current state of online culture was such that getting angry was futile.
"Should I set up an official website?"
Chen Yang stroked his chin, muttering to himself.
"Endless Stars" was now like a golden goose. It would be foolish not to put effort into its operation.
