When he received the call, it turned out to be his homeroom teacher. Wang Bo had saved her number when school started, but they had never spoken on the phone before. He picked up the call with a puzzled mind, wondering what Teacher Xu could want from him. Could it be that she wanted to stay a few more days at Kaiden Castle?

He said, “Teacher Xu, this is Wang Bo. What’s up?”

“You scoundrel!” For some reason, Teacher Xu’s tone was unfriendly from the start. “Come to Kaiden Castle right away!” She hung up without even checking if it was convenient for him.

Wang Bo thought to himself, What did I do wrong?

When he arrived at the Kaiden Castle hotel and entered Room 630, after listening to Teacher Xu’s complaints, he finally understood. It turned out that Teacher Xu had been enjoying her stay at Kaiden Castle, with comfortable accommodations and daily meal vouchers. In the past, she rarely came here, and when she did, it was only for a special occasion. Now, she could enjoy it every day with thorough service.

As a result, she stayed for a full seven days. On the last night, she inquired about the prepaid expenses at the front desk because she had promised to pay them back. To her surprise, the total cost for seven days was over 6,800 yuan, which was equivalent to several months of rent outside.

Originally, this wasn’t too much, and she could afford it. However, after leaving home, she only had a few credit cards and her salary card. In the past few days, she had been shopping wildly due to her depressed mood, and her credit cards were maxed out. The remaining money in her salary card was for rent. Her property division with her ex-husband wasn’t settled yet, and now she was facing a financial crisis.

Hearing that the room cost so much, she immediately felt a pang of regret and blamed Wang Bo. Why did he arrange for her to stay in such a luxurious hotel? And why did he book a suite for her?

However, Xu Wushuang didn’t intend to shirk her responsibility. After venting her frustration, she said, “I can’t pay you back right away. I’ve decided to give you extra tutoring to offset the cost. Don’t worry, I won’t cheat you. I’ll charge you the market rate, 50 yuan per hour.”

Wang Bo quickly calculated in his head. At this rate, it would take over 130 hours of tutoring. Even if he did two hours a day, it would take more than two months to pay it off! He was too busy to have the time for such special treatment, so he immediately declined, “No need, Teacher Xu. I’m not in a hurry for the money. You can pay me back whenever you want.” His implication was that if she didn’t want to pay, she didn’t have to.

Xu Wushuang didn’t want to take advantage of him, so she started to haggle, “Too expensive? How about 40 yuan per hour? I really can’t go any lower, or it would make me look incompetent.”

Oh no, that would take even longer, Wang Bo shook his head, “Really, no need. I think my Chinese is good enough. I don’t need extra tutoring.”

“You’re not good enough,” Xu Wushuang scolded, “You’ve made great progress in English and Math recently, but your Chinese needs to catch up. Otherwise, it would make me look incompetent.”

It seemed she really cared about her reputation. No matter how much Wang Bo tried to persuade her, she insisted on giving him extra tutoring. He had to compromise and agreed to accept a maximum of one month of tutoring.

The tutoring location was temporarily set in Teacher Xu’s office. After they agreed, she asked him to help pack her clothes because she had to move out after one more night.

After everything was packed, they went out together to start the first class at school. However, as they walked down the hallway, they saw a few flashes of light from a distance, as if someone was taking photos.

Xu Wushuang immediately became alert. She covered her face and looked closely, her eyes almost spitting fire. She stormed towards the man with the camera, shouting, “Bastard! What are you taking pictures of!”

The man was wearing a bright yellow suit and sneered, “Hmph, Xu Wushuang, I thought you were so pure, but it turns out you’re no better. You’re fooling around with your student in a place like this. Looks like you’ve been cheating on me for a long time!”

“Watch your mouth, you dog! What proof do you have?” Xu Wushuang was very agitated. She never expected her ex-husband to secretly follow and wait for an opportunity to take photos, a truly despicable act, fitting for a tabloid news producer.

“Hmph, do you think I only have these photos?” The man in the yellow suit raised an eyebrow, “I’ve already gotten firsthand testimony from an informant, proving that you and he were seen together in this hotel late on Monday night! You were drunk, and he carried you into this room! Tell me, what did you do in there?”

“We didn’t do anything!” Xu Wushuang said firmly.

“Nothing? Ha!” He laughed, “Whether others believe it or not, I don’t. And I bet the readers of those tabloids won’t believe it either. Rest assured, I’ll write your story as spicy and sensational as possible, boosting the newspaper’s sales. Ha ha ha... Teacher Xu!”

“You’re despicable!” Xu Wushuang gritted her teeth, knowing that if he said it, he would do it. He had climbed to his current position through such underhanded tactics.

“Say whatever you want,” the man shrugged, “When you’re ruined, it won’t be my problem.”

Xu Wushuang was trembling with anger. She knew he had a purpose, so she asked, “What do you want to stop?”

He had already gotten everything he wanted from her, and the only thing left was money. As expected, the man smiled and pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, saying, “This is a supplementary agreement. Sign it, and you’ll automatically give up all your property and leave with nothing.”

“You’re the one who cheated on me! Why should I leave with nothing!” Besides the marital property, she had a lot of pre-marriage property at home. If she gave it to that fox, she couldn’t accept it.

“Then be prepared to face public condemnation,” the man sneered.

Xu Wushuang frowned, staring at the man who had hurt her time and time again. She had once loved him unconditionally, but he had discarded her like a used rag. Now, he was using this to extort her property, making her deeply regret her decision to marry such a heartless person.

Wang Bo, standing nearby, clearly heard everything. He thought that Teacher Xu’s ex-husband was not worth sympathy, a complete scumbag. Any excuses he made were just that—excuses. This man was a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“Fine, I’ll sign!” Xu Wushuang said through gritted teeth, “But why should I trust you to not spread rumors after I sign this agreement?”

“Once you sign this agreement, it’s useless to me,” he said indifferently, “I can give you the memory card with the photos and the informant’s testimony. See, I have them with me.”

“Give me the agreement.” Xu Wushuang took the supplementary agreement, signed it, and then exchanged it for the memory card and the testimony from her ex-husband. In front of him, she crushed the memory card with her high heel and tore up the testimony.

Finally, she shouted, “Get out! Get out of here!”

The man in the yellow suit looked at the agreement, his face showing a strange expression. He laughed, “I’m leaving, I’m leaving! Take care, see you later, ha ha ha...” He pocketed the agreement and left the hallway, laughing.

Xu Wushuang, overwhelmed with grief and anger, collapsed on the ground, sobbing. Wang Bo had been an observer throughout, knowing it was their private matter and not wanting to interfere. He could have seized the so-called evidence, but he didn’t, thinking the man hadn’t told the whole truth. Given his despicable nature, he probably had a backup plan in case Xu Wushuang acted rashly. If that happened, it would backfire, and the man might spread the rumors, which would be devastating for Xu Wushuang, who valued her reputation.

He hoped the man would stop after getting the property. If he pushed further, Wang Bo wouldn’t let him off.

After crying for a while, Xu Wushuang wiped her nose and dried her tears, standing up. She turned to Wang Bo, “I’ve been tricked. That scumbag, using such despicable tactics against me.”

She didn’t know what to do next. Her credit cards were maxed out, and she had left with nothing after the divorce. Her salary for this month had just been paid, but the next one was far off. After paying the rent and deposit, she would only have a few hundred yuan left for food, not enough to pay her credit card bills. How could she survive?

“Ahhh!” Xu Wushuang scratched her head in frustration, then suddenly said, “I can’t take it anymore, I need to drink! Wang Bo, go buy a dozen beers for the teacher! You’re partly responsible for this, don’t even think about running away!”

She walked back into the room and slammed the door, not even giving Wang Bo money for the beer.

Given the situation, Wang Bo could only comply. Drinking in the room wouldn’t cause any trouble, and he could just sleep until morning. He went downstairs, bought a dozen Budweiser beers, and went back up. He knocked on the door, entered, and sat down to watch Teacher Xu drink.

She drank while complaining about her ex-husband’s various faults.
