Just as he stepped out of the shack, Chen Ang first saw a half-finished landspeeder. It was just a rough frame with many exposed parts and wires, looking quite ugly and dilapidated. Around it were piled up parts that Anakin had collected. Chen Ang could tell that Anakin was a very talented person.
The parts he collected always looked old, but their performance was relatively stable.
Anakin, somewhat embarrassed, went up to support it, trying to clear a path, "I always wanted to build a landspeeder myself, but Watto would never agree to it, so I hid it here. Hey!"
He struggled to lift the parts but accidentally touched something. There was a loud clatter, and the landspeeder tilted and suddenly collapsed, parts scattering everywhere. Anakin looked at the mess in front of him, at a loss, and scratched his head in frustration.
"Your design is quite good, it just lacks a bit of structural optimization," Chen Ang said with a smile, picking up a broken part from the ground. "Let me help you put it together!"
A light screen flickered before Chen Ang's eyes. He gathered all his energy to collect knowledge about mechanics from the communication waves in the sky. Clearly, Tatooine was not a developed planet, and the internet was not even widespread. Chen Ang spent a lot of time searching through the corners before finding a maintenance book called *Mechanical Basics — Tatooine Garbage Collection*.
In fact, according to Chen Ang's habits, he should have started with the basics, but Tatooine was clearly not a peaceful place. Not only was the technological information backward, but it was also dominated by pragmatism (Tatooine people only needed to know how to use weapons to kill, not how to make them).
On this planet in the space age, there were too many weapons that could threaten Chen Ang. Fortunately, the people of Tatooine did not have the habit of wearing armor or exoskeletons. If he encountered stormtroopers, Chen Ang would not be able to break through their armor. He urgently needed an identity to survive on Tatooine.
"Anakin is still a child, and the landspeeder is not yet complete. It seems there is still a long way to go before the arrival of the Jedi. Here, technology and the Force coexist, and spirit and science intertwine. It's a magical world with much to learn."
Fortunately, the parts Anakin collected were all common types on Tatooine. In fact, Anakin could not get his hands on uncommon types. He could only pick up parts that Watto didn't care about from Watto's junk shop or collect garbage in the desert. Both sources were included in the book *Tatooine Garbage Collection*.
From Anakin's perspective, Chen Ang thought and hesitated for a long time at the beginning, possibly because he was not familiar with the mechanical style and models of Tatooine. But soon, Chen Ang showed his superb skills as a mechanic and took the lead in the repair. He was familiar with every part and always used them appropriately.
Anakin watched intently, almost in awe of Chen Ang. "You must be the best mechanic on Tatooine. If I had your skills, I could definitely redeem my mother and myself."
At this point, the landspeeder in front of them was beginning to take shape. Compared to its previous messy and dilapidated state, it now had a mechanical order and beauty. During the repair, Chen Ang also took the opportunity to maintain and clean the parts. Now they looked like slightly used second-hand goods, completely different from their previous shabby appearance.
"In fact, it could be better. It's still just a collection of parts. The only creative structure is the one you designed. I just put them together reasonably; it's not a big deal," Chen Ang said, wiping his hands with a cloth, somewhat dissatisfied.
The technology in this world far exceeded that of Earth. There were many principles he did not understand, which limited his performance. In the end, Chen Ang only dared to effectively use these components, restore their state, and combine them according to the parameters. He did not even dare to change the structure Anakin designed.
"But that's the coolest part! You used them so perfectly! I dare say, there's no other mechanic like you on all of Tatooine. Those clumsy guys can't even tell the difference between a condenser and an activator. The blasters they modify can even explode!"
Anakin picked up a small crystal tube and excitedly gestured in front of Chen Ang. "Look, these crystal prisms are everywhere in blasters, but a complete activation module is worth hundreds of credits. An activation module is just a crystal plus some parts, but no one on Tatooine dares to assemble it themselves."
He looked at Chen Ang with great anticipation. "You must be a mechanic from another planet. You are the best I've ever seen."
"But you are much better than me!" Chen Ang teased the embarrassed Anakin. "When I was your age, I was just a clueless child!"
Anakin lowered his head in embarrassment, pretending to suddenly realize something. "Let's go! The Quarian food sellers are about to leave. They are always lazy and greedy, but they have the best cooking skills here."
"But I don't want to eat Quarian food. If you introduce your family to me, I would be very happy!" Chen Ang smiled and patted his head. "Do you want to learn these things from me? We can discuss and learn together. To be honest, I am also learning."
"Really?" Anakin looked up in surprise, his eyes shining. "You really want to teach me these things?" His mechanical knowledge was self-taught in Watto's shop. On Tatooine, only the masters would teach slaves some skills to increase their value.
"Don't call me with such respect. You can call me by my name, Chen Ang!" Chen Ang smiled and held his hand, teaching him to pronounce his name syllable by syllable.
"No, I can't be so disrespectful. I'll call you teacher!" Anakin looked at Chen Ang with determination, enthusiastically pulling his hand. "My mother will be so happy to know you are here!"
Chen Ang looked at this stubborn child and suddenly laughed. Since you call me teacher, I will take on this responsibility! Outstanding Jedi apprentice, future Dark Jedi, light and darkness, the choice is yours.
The town of Tatooine was full of thugs with ill intentions. Fortunately, with Anakin's guidance, Chen Ang avoided any conflicts. Although Anakin was very young, he had very good relationships here, possibly due to his excellent mechanical talent and helpful personality.
In the space age, even Jedi could not underestimate technological weapons. Chen Ang was too unfamiliar with this place. A slight mistake could lead to trouble. Earthlings in this universe were like ignorant natives, with too many incredible technological products and racial abilities far beyond Chen Ang's imagination.
This was a dangerous but full of opportunities world. Chen Ang believed he could quickly become powerful, but he needed time to develop. This period of peace was very precious. He was rapidly learning and understanding this world, every minute and every second.
Although there was a plot guide, a real universe had too many things that movies could not express. The history and culture of a planet were far more vast than one could imagine. This was a real, complex society. Chen Ang reminded himself: this was not a single-player adventure game with you as the main character, nor was it a movie centered around a few main characters.
It was a universe, a vast empire spanning thousands of planets. It was complex, ever-changing, and destinies were not fixed by a few plots. Human behavior influenced each other, and relationships were intricate.
Only when truly facing it would Chen Ang be amazed by this starry world. There were too many different races, cultures, and deep historical backgrounds. Looking up at the starry sky, he realized this was a vast world beyond his imagination on Earth.
Anakin's home was not as poor as Chen Ang had imagined. Instead, it was filled with warmth. Small decorations and unobtrusive details gave a sense of home, making Chen Ang feel more comfortable than in that cold laboratory.
Hearing the door open, a gentle female voice came from inside the house. "Anakin, come in! Try the new sauce I made." Chen Ang saw a gentle mother walk out of the kitchen.
Seeing Chen Ang, she was not surprised but warmly invited him to sit down. "We haven't had guests in a long time. Since the last time Anakin drove away that rude guy, he hasn't brought anyone home. He must trust you a lot."
Shmi Skywalker, with a smile in her eyes, slightly raised her eyebrows and pulled out a chair for him, offering him a cup of hot tea. "Our kitchen has nothing to offer guests. Anakin, go buy some meat frogs. Don't bring back bantha meat. I'll prepare some mushrooms."
Anakin responded and happily left. Shmi sat in front of Chen Ang, smiling and adding hot water for him. "Anakin respects you a lot. He was so mischievous at seven that I couldn't control him. It's surprising to have someone who can manage him."
"Hello, ma'am!" Chen Ang smiled. "My ship just crashed in a storm, and he saved me. Fortunately, I have the skills to repair things and can teach him some mechanics." Chen Ang knew what she wanted to ask but did not feel offended. A mother's concern for her child was only natural.
Chen Ang was not the type to feel insulted or belittled easily.
"He finally has a real teacher!" Shmi was very happy. "You know, I've always been worried about how to raise him. He likes these things, but I can't help him at all. Come, sir, I'll prepare a room for you! It will be next to Anakin. I hope you won't find him too noisy."
"That's perfect. I'm currently penniless. Without your help, I would have to sleep outside!" Chen Ang smiled. "I'll open a repair shop in town and hope for good business."
"That's for sure. Anakin doesn't admire just anyone!"
